MK Odeh in Berlin: Germany – Recognize Palestine

According to Odeh, “Every hostage returned from Gaza is a victory. Every child and family who survived Gaza is a victory. But that is not the victory Netanyahu wants.” He said, “What has been achieved and at what price? Palestinian cities have been erased from the map. Tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza were killed, including 20,000 children. Hundreds of thousands were left without homes. This is not a victory. This is devastation,” and called on “those responsible for crimes against humanity” to be held accountable.

“The Israeli state was already like Sparta – now it has become a super Sparta. If this is victory, what does defeat look like?” Odeh wondered. Odeh also urged Germany to recognize a Palestinian state, saying that the only request he had of U.S. President Donald Trump when he came to address Israel’s Knesset in October was to recognize a Palestinian state. “So, I ask you too: Germany – recognize Palestine! Recognize that there are two people in our shared homeland, both with the right to self-determination,” he cried out, to great applause.

Regarding Germany, Odeh said that Berlin “carries the scars of the 20th century and stands as a living reminder of how far human cruelty can go when power is absolute. When racism is normalized and people are dehumanized. But a city like Berlin can be both a graveyard for history, resistance culture and rebirth,” he said. Odeh also said the history of Berlin teaches that “silence in the face of injustice is deadly. It was silence that made the greatest crime of the century possible. And yet, today we see silence return, dressed up in diplomatic language.”

One target at a time: The logic that helped Israeli liberals commit genocide

Yet to see the past two years not only through the prism of genocide but also as a second Nakba — a sustained project of erasure aimed at destroying both a people and the space they inhabit — may bring us closer to grasping the nature of Israel’s actions. Whereas genocide is often understood as violence for its own sake, the Nakba represents violence with a purpose: the removal and replacement of a people.

And yet, as a Jewish-Israeli faced with the horrors of the past two years, I cannot help but think in Holocaust terms. The destruction of Gaza has enabled me to better understand not only the stories of the victims but also of the perpetrators — the silent majority who facilitated atrocities through their actions and the stories they tell themselves to justify it all.

Israel is waging a holocaust in Gaza. Denazification is our only remedy

What Israel is doing in Gaza City is not the tragic byproduct of chaotic events on the ground, but a well-calculated act of annihilation, executed in cold blood by “the people’s army” — that is, the fathers, sons, brothers, and neighbors of us Israelis.

How is it that, despite the mounting testimonies from Gaza’s concentration and extermination camps, no mass refusal movement has taken root in Israel? That after two years of this carnage barely a handful of conscientious objectors sit in prison is truly inconceivable. Even the so-called “gray refusers” — reserve soldiers who do not oppose the war on ideological grounds but are simply exhausted and questioning its purpose — remain far too few to slow the killing machine, let alone bring it to a halt.

Who are these obedient souls who keep this system running? How can a society so deeply fractured — between the religious and the secular, settlers and liberals, kibbutzniks and urbanites, veteran immigrants and new arrivals — unite only in its willingness to slaughter Palestinians without a moment’s hesitation?

How Israelis turned atrocity denial into an art

(August 22, 2025)

Meanwhile, the reprehensible refusal by the vast majority of the Israeli media to show what is actually happening in Gaza means that when images do manage to slip through, the public response is often little more than a collective shrug of dismissal. Yet almost every time, that shrug is accompanied by “they deserved it,” as denial and justification intertwine in what may seem like a paradox but actually reflects two sides of the same coin.

How Gaza‘s aid sites have morphed into Israel‘s cruellest form of psychological torture

We are witnessing a reshaping of the individual, of society, of the market, and of the social fabric that binds people together. What remains of meaningful human agency is being dissolved, with Palestinians left to face uncertain fates.

In this open-air theatre, Israel is carrying out a systematic policy of dismantling individuals and structures alike, paving the way for a final phase – one of collective submission, of psychological dependence on the oppressor, and of collapsed trust in society itself.

This, in turn, paves the way for a new order in which people attach their hopes to whoever appears stronger, more capable, more able to feed them. We will by then have become pliable clay, to be shaped by Israel at will or discarded, left as broken human wreckage under the control of warlords and looters.

Bringing down the terrorism laws: „WE DO NOT COMPLY“

Civil Disobedience

One may well ask: „How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?“ The answer lies in the fact that there are two types of laws: just and unjust. I would be the first to advocate obeying just laws. One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that „an unjust law is no law at all.“

Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Plan

We will not comply with this unjust law. Many people from celebrities, to artists, to writers, to journalists to activists are intending to break this unjust law. We will do it together. Unjust laws are no laws at all. Mass lawbreaking is the heart of classical civil disobedience. The law you disagree with, you break en-masse.

The most effective, powerful and damaging to the state is mass civil disobedience all together in one place. This has power both visually, from a media perspective and also from a problem for the state. Arresting a mass of people together under terrorism laws will be tricky for them. Equally ignoring them and allowing them to flagrantly flout the law in public is equally undesirable for the state.

There are two different levels of risk.

In a public place, wear an item of clothing or item that „would arouse reasonable suspicion that they are a member of a proscribed organisation“. This means wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt or jumper. Read the legal risks. This can only be tried in the magistrates court and comes with a maximum sentence of 6 months in prison, and the likely outcome if prosecuted would be far less (e.g. fines or conditional discharge).
Express your explicit support for Palestine Action. Read the legal risks. If this is tried in magistrates, the max sentences is the same as above. The risk here is if the case is moved to crown court the maximum jumps up to 14 years in prison.

Steps to take before you take action

Print off and bring a bust card with you. See bust cards on GBC‘s website.
Clear out tech (laptop, desktop, phone) from your home before taking action. This is to protect all of your friends and family as well as keeping your devices safe from the police
Bring some money (cash) and a book in case you are arrested.
Make sure someone is there to film what happens, and send it in to us.

This Dystopia Would Never Be Accepted Without Extensive Indoctrination

It takes a lot of education to make us this stupid. Our minds require a whole lot of training to accept this horrific dystopia as the baseline norm. That’s why the empire we live under has the most sophisticated domestic propaganda machine that has ever existed.

In order to have clarity, we need to learn to look with fresh eyes. Uninitiated eyes. Eyes that have not been educated out of their initial healthy impulse to weep at what we are doing and how we are living here. We need to get in touch with that intuition within us which rejects the sickness of our society as though it was meeting it for the very first time.

Imagine If Gaza Was Jewish And The People Bombing It Were Muslims

In the eyes of the western empire, there are some people who may be murdered with mass military violence, and others who may not be. There are some types of children who can be photographed with their ribcages sticking out because of deliberately inflicted starvation without causing much of a stir, and there are other types of children for whom such photographs would shake the earth.

In the eyes of the western empire, Jews are considered fully human, while Muslims and Arabs are not. A massacre of Jews is a terrible, unforgivable atrocity which cries out to the heavens for limitless vengeance, while Israel’s daily massacres of Palestinians merit nothing more than a footnote.

Will AI become God? That’s the wrong question.

(April 7. 2025)

I really want to emphasize, from a metaphysical point of view, I can’t prove, and neither can anyone else, that a computer is alive or not, or conscious or not, or whatever. All that stuff is always going to be a matter of faith. That’s just the way it is. But what I can say is that this emphasis on trying to make the models seem like they’re freestanding new entities does blind us to some ways we could make them better.

So does all the anxiety, including from serious people in the world of AI, about human extinction feel like religious hysteria to you?

What drives me crazy about this is that this is my world. I talk to the people who believe that stuff all the time, and increasingly, a lot of them believe that it would be good to wipe out people and that the AI future would be a better one, and that we should wear a disposable temporary container for the birth of AI. I hear that opinion quite a lot.

Wait, that’s a real opinion held by real people?

Many, many people. Just the other day I was at a lunch in Palo Alto and there were some young AI scientists there who were saying that they would never have a “bio baby” because as soon as you have a “bio baby,” you get the “mind virus” of the [biological] world.

Spying, hacking and intimidation: Israel’s nine-year ‘war’ on the ICC exposed

(May 28, 2024)

Thanks to their comprehensive access to Palestinian telecoms infrastructure, the sources said, intelligence operatives could capture the calls without installing spyware on the ICC official’s devices.

“If Fatou Bensouda spoke to any person in the West Bank or Gaza, then that phone call would enter [intercept] systems,” one source said. Another said there was no hesitation internally over spying on the prosecutor, adding: “With Bensouda, she’s black and African, so who cares?”

The surveillance system did not capture calls between ICC officials and anyone outside Palestine. However, multiple sources said the system required the active selection of the overseas phone numbers of ICC officials whose calls Israeli intelligence agencies decided to listen to.

According to one Israeli source, a large whiteboard in an Israeli intelligence department contained the names of about 60 people under surveillance – half of them Palestinians and half from other countries, including UN officials and ICC personnel.

In The Hague, Bensouda and her senior staff were alerted by security advisers and via diplomatic channels that Israel was monitoring their work.

How the war on Gaza exposed Israeli and western fascism

Just one example: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the Palestinians as “Amalek” – a reference to a biblical story well known to every Israeli schoolchild, in which the Israelites are ordered by God to wipe an entire people, including their children and livestock, off the face of the earth.

Anyone engaged on social media will have faced a battery of similarly genocidal statements from mostly anonymous supporters of Israel.

Those genocide cheerleaders recently gained a face – two, in fact. Video clips of two Israelis, podcasting in English under the name “Two Nice Jewish Boys”, have gone viral, showing the pair calling for the extermination of every last Palestinian man, woman and child.

One of the podcasters said that “zero people in Israel” care whether a polio outbreak caused by Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s water, sewage and heath facilities ends up killing babies, noting that Israel’s agreement to a vaccination campaign is driven purely by public relations needs.

In another clip, the podcasters agree that Palestinian hostages in Israeli prisons deserve to be “executed by shoving too large of an object up their butts”.

They also make clear that they would not hesitate to press a genocide button to wipe out the Palestinian people: “If you gave me a button to just erase Gaza – every single living being in Gaza would no longer be living tomorrow – I would press it in a second … And I think most Israelis would. They wouldn’t talk about it like I am, they wouldn’t say ‘I pressed it’, but they would press it.”

“You’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop,” he said. Soon the students would flood into a campus administration building.

That scene played out 60 years ago at the University of California, Berkeley. The words were directed at the university leadership, and referring to its restrictions on campus political activity. But the speech, from the student leader Mario Savio, and the sit-in that followed could have happened yesterday.
