Ahead of the votes—including on separate versions asking for a 5-year and then 18-month extensions of Section 702—opponents of any clean extension, including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), said anyone opposed to warrantless spying on Americans must vote no.

ל‘ מספרת: „הכל התחיל כשחייל-מתנחל ניגש אלינו וביקש את הדרכונים שלנו. לא מסרנו אותם מיד. שאלנו אותו – ‚מי אתה בכלל? אתה חייל? יש לך סמכות לעשות את זה?‘ הוא חזר על הבקשה, ואז פשוט התחיל לקרוא לאנשים. הגיעו חיילים, לקחו את הדרכונים שלנו, החזירו אותם ונראה כאילו הכל בסדר. אבל אז הגיע מתנחל שהיו לנו כבר מפגשים איתו, ואמר להם משהו על רמאללה. הוא המשיך להתעקש, וגם רצה לראות שוב את הדרכונים שלנו. הרגשנו שהוא מסית אותם“.

מ‘ ממשיך: „בסופו של דבר האשימו אותנו ב‘הפצת תוכן תומך טרור‘ ברשתות החברתיות או משהו כזה, וזה היה קשור לצילום שלנו בהפגנה ברמאללה. זו היתה התמונה שהמתנחל זיהה, והיא כנראה נלקחה מסרטון שפורסם בפייסבוק של הבחור שנאם שם. הוא העלה תמונה של כל האנשים שעמדו שם בעמוד הפייסבוק הפרטי שלו, שלא היו לו הרבה עוקבים או לייקים, והם איכשהו מצאו את זה והשתמשו בזה כהוכחה נגדנו.

I feel like it‘s obviously meant to intimidate, to target individuals, to show that ‘we see you, internationals.’ And especially with this entire police apparatus, the goal is for us to be on their radar and to be hunted down.”

South Africa Asks U.N. Court to Intervene to Avert ‘Genocidal Starvation’ in Gaza

Israel has strenuously denied the genocide allegation, and on Thursday its foreign ministry called on the court to reject South Africa’s latest request.

“South Africa continues to act as the legal arm of Hamas in an attempt to undermine Israel’s inherent right to defend itself and its citizens, and to release all of the hostages,” Lior Haiat, a spokesman for Israel’s Foreign Ministry, said on social media.

It was not immediately clear when the court would respond to the request.

Dozens of Israeli physicians signed a letter urging the military to destroy the “hornet nests and the hospitals shielding them” in the Gaza Strip. The letter indicates that its authors consider the civilians in these hospitals to be legitimate targets – as if they can choose to leave; as if there’s a safe way out and another hospital able to take them in.

Following their appeal, we drafted the response letter below, undersigned by physicians and health professionals working in hospitals and in the community: (…)

No person with a conscience can remain indifferent to the massacre of civilians, including men, women, and children, carried out on October 7, 2023, by Hamas militants – the scale of which has yet to be fully revealed. However, our deep outrage must not be transformed into a carte blanche for killing civilians in the Gaza Strip, where residents are also counting the wounded and dead – certainly not when physicians are the ones demanding this. Fortunately, the letter’s signatories represent only a small minority of the health community, while the vast majority remains busy saving lives – no matter whose lives it may be.

Man hätte diese Liste der „braven“ Künstler laut dem Artikel noch erheblich verlängern können: Unter dem Stichwort #impfenschuetzt hatten einige Veranstalter und Künstler dafür geworben, sich impfen zu lassen – mit dabei waren Bands wie Die Toten Hosen, Beatsteaks, Tocotronic, Element of Crime, Isolation Berlin und Silbermond, die mit der Beteiligung an der Kampagne auch die durch die Corona-Politik und die aggressive Impfkampagne hervorgerufenen gesellschaftlichen Verwerfungen indirekt gerechtfertigt haben.

Auch die Band Die Ärzte gliederte sich auf ihrer Webseite voll in die dominante offizielle Darstellung ein: In einer Band-Mitteilung sollte wohl eine Schockwirkung mit Formulierungen wie „qualvollem Ersticken“ erzielt werden, die „Zukunft der Kultur“ wurde vom Impf-Fortschritt abhängig gemacht, ebenso war das Impfen laut „Die Ärzte“ (ganz Regierungslinie) Voraussetzung für „normale Bedingungen“ und dafür, dass „das Leben weitergeht“.
