Netanyahu isn’t looking for a long-term solution now. He doesn’t believe one exists with the Palestinians, besides what he call “peace of deterrence” – another word for bullying the Palestinians until they give up. He’s perfectly aware that won’t happen in the foreseeable future and he’s prepared to wait even for another generation if that’s what it takes.
(15.10.2018) If Israel is dragged into a military operation in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing clashes on the Israel-Gaza border, it should be called the “Mahmoud Abbas War,” Energy Minister and security cabinet member Yuval Steinitz said on Monday.
Speaking at the Maariv Leaders Conference in Jerusalem, Steinitz reiterated his warning last year that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has a “strategic program to embroil Israel in a conflict in Gaza, and he wants to manipulate us into a conflict Israel is not interested in at a time that isn’t desirable.”
(9.11.2018) Haaretz’s crime reporter and defense expert answer questions on the corruption case in which the police seek indictments on people close to the prime minister
(1.11.2018) Speaking to reporters Thursday after talks with his Bulgarian counterpart, Netanyahu said radical Islam is a threat to the world, and that Israel has recently revealed a number of Iranian plots to carry out attacks on European soil.
The Trump administration announced Friday that its powerful sanctions would snap back against Iran, effective Sunday, on banking, oil, shipping and other economic sectors where the penalties were lifted by the Obama administration in 2015 as part of the JCPOA nuclear deal.
(3.März 2015) REP. JAN SCHAKOWSKY: [Netanyahu] made the same argument over the Iraq War, that it was time for the United States to not pay attention to any world opinion, but just to go it alone. What I heard today, felt to me like an effort to stampede the United States into war once again.
(3.März 2015) MSNBC’s Chris Matthews reacts to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Minister’s speech to a joint session of Congress. Matthews said Netanyahu was trying to „take power away from the president.“
„This was a takeover attempt by Netanyahu with his complying American partners to take American foreign policy out of the hands of the president,“ Matthews said.
(3.März 2015) „And I also resent the fact that he was telling us how to negotiate when the administration and their representatives have been at this for two years now with the cooperation, participation of five other major nations in the world. This speech was straight out of the Dick Cheney playbook. It was fearmongerring at its ultimate. Phrases like essentially saying nuclear war is inevitable if this deal were to be accepted, phrases like this would pave the way to Iran having a nuclear bomb, these are things that I think are, again, part of what Dick Cheney would have done and did. This has been the Prime Minister’s pattern. He’s gone to the U.N. and done the same thing. „
I have touched on the problem of the Middle East that is largely undemocratic, and part of it is strongly anti-democratic. Specifically, it is being radicalized and terrorized by a number of unreconstructed dictatorships whose governmental creed is based on tyranny and intimidation.
The most dangerous of these regimes is Iran, that has wed a cruel despotism to a fanatic militancy. If this regime, or its despotic neighbor Iraq, were to acquire nuclear weapons, this could presage catastrophic consequences, not only for my country, and not only for the Middle East, but for all mankind.
(4.3.2015) The prime minister has been warning for over 20 years that Tehran is close to achieving its pursuit of nuclear weapons.
(2.10.2018) But as Jerusalem Post correspondent Benjamin Weinthal reported, Merkel and her foreign minister, Heiko Maas, also back the European Union’s “special purpose vehicle (SPV)” mechanism to permit financial transactions with Iran. The SPV undercuts the US financial sanctions on Iran’s regime that are due to go into effect on November 5.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided Saturday that the evacuation of the Palestinian Bedouin village, Khan al-Ahmar, would be postponed.
Mrs. Netanyahu appeared before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court wearing a dark jacket and white shirt, her hair coiffed into curls. She flashed a nervous smile to a courtroom packed with reporters but made no remarks before the press was asked to leave.
On Sunday morning, she appeared composed as she arrived at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court for her trial on charges of fraud and breach of trust, focusing on the alleged misuse of taxpayer dollars at the couple’s official residence at Balfour Street.
From April 2009 until March 2013, Sara Netanyahu ordered approximately $100,000 in meals from some of Jerusalem’s top restaurants, according to an indictment filed in June, which painstakingly detailed each transaction by month.
The premier announced that he and the Russian leader agreed to meet while speaking at a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, where he also extended his condolences to the families of the slain Israelis who were killed earlier on Sunday in a West Bank shooting attack.
In view of the visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which began Wednesday, the government decided to put off the demolition and evacuation of the Jahalin Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar for a few days, so as not to embarrass her.
Each day that has passed since May 1999, Europe in general and Germany in particular have crossed another red line in the normalization of the status quo.
Jerusalem am Abend. Israels Premierminister Benjamin Netanyahu empfängt Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel.
Netanyahu arrived in New York late on Tuesday evening, missing speeches to the UN by Trump and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Trump will meet Netanyahu at the United Nations headquarters in Turtle Bay at 9:15 a.m. (4:15 p.m. Israel time), according to the White House.
Risky Israeli behavior threatens everyone
(21.09.2018) An Israeli military official says its „deconfliction line“ with Russia for their air forces in Syria will be improved after a Russian plane was hit by Syrian forces responding to an Israeli raid.
He spoke anonymously according to protocol Friday after an Israeli delegation returned from Moscow where they briefed officials on the incident that killed 15 Russians.
He proceeded to say that Moscow had halted the delivery of S-300s to Damascus back in 2013 at Israel’s request, but the situation around the delivery has changed „through no fault of Russia.“
Editor’s note: Fake translations of this story are on the internet. This is a real one and Israel’s story about it’s pilots not seeing the Russian plane are cast aside as the total bullshit they are.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday described the downing of a Russian plane in Syria as the result of “tragic chance events,” appearing to dial back a rare flare-up in tensions with Israel.
According to Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov, the Russian transport plane was shot down Monday night, local time, as Israel F-16’s attempted to use it as cover while carrying out a bombing mission against targets in the Latakia region of western Syria near the Meditarranean coast.
„By using the Russian plane as cover the Israeli air pilots made it vulnerable to Syrian air defense fire. As a result, the Ilyushin-20, its reflective surface being far greater than that of the F-16, was downed by a missile launched with the S-200 system,“ Konashenkov told reporters.
There is a global struggle taking place of enormous consequence. Nothing less than the future of the planet – economically, socially and environmentally – is at stake.
At a time of massive wealth and income inequality, when the world’s top 1% now owns more wealth than the bottom 99%, we are seeing the rise of a new authoritarian axis.
While these regimes may differ in some respects, they share key attributes: hostility toward democratic norms, antagonism toward a free press, intolerance toward ethnic and religious minorities, and a belief that government should benefit their own selfish financial interests. These leaders are also deeply connected to a network of multi-billionaire oligarchs who see the world as their economic plaything.
(11.5.2018) Israeli PM has lobbied hard to keep Russia from providing advanced anti-air system to Syria. Top aide to Putin now says Assad has all it needs.
(14.1.2018) Taxation and economics prosecutor Liat Ben Ari and State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan must submit their opinions to Mendelblit within a month or two.
Speaking at a conference organized by Hadashot TV news, Mandelblit said, “A free press is an essential component of a democratic society and it is of utmost importance to protect and guard it.”
He added that the role of the media was similar to that of the police and law enforcement.
(31.8.2018) On Thursday, a police representative to a Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court judge confirmed that Sara Netanyahu is a suspect in the affair known as Case 4000. The prime minister was named a suspect six months ago.
(31.8.2018) It is significant that Netanyahu made the fiery remarks at the country’s top-secret nuclear research facility. Israel is the only state in the Middle East to possess nuclear weapons, though its policy of “strategic ambiguity” makes it difficult to say how large its atomic armory is. Estimates reach as high as 400 nuclear warheads.
(23.8.2018) Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday during a visit to Jerusalem, John Bolton said: „We now see plans for the Syrian regime to resume offensive military activities in Idlib province.
„We are obviously concerned about the possibility that Assad may use chemical weapons again.
„Just so there’s no confusion here, if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time,“ he added.
Netanyahu made his remarks after US National Security Adviser John Bolton said the issue is not currently under consideration by Washington.
Technological developments are obliging espionage agencies to adopt diverse methods of operation: not only to dispatch agents to enemy countries and to recruit local sources for intelligence, but also to dupe people into serving as agents without their knowledge, to use mercenaries and to rely on new capabilities, such as cyberattacks. To avoid biometric identification, as well as to evade security cameras, espionage organizations are being compelled to make increasing use of unwitting local agents.
(17.8.2018) Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was questioned in his home today (Friday) by police investigators, regarding an alleged tit-for-tat between himself and media mogul Shaul Alovich, who served as Communications Ministry Director under Netanyahu.
Netanyahu is now convinced that the case – known as Case 4000 – „has collapsed for good,“ according to sources close to him.
(5.8.2018) Supreme Court Justice Isaac Amit on Sunday ordered police to return jewelry worth 600,000 shekels ($162,200) to Shaul and Iris Elovitch because it was seized without a court order.
The jewels were confiscated during the investigation of Case 4000 (the Bezeq bribery case). Amit said that taking the jewelry without a court order was illegal, thereby overturning rulings by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s and District courts, and contrary to the state’s position.
Hamas leader Ismail Haniya said an end to Israel’s decade-long blockade of Gaza was „around the corner“ as talk of a possible truce deal intensifies.
Indirect negotiations between Gaza’s Hamas rulers and Israel brokered by Egyptian and UN officials have reportedly included discussion on easing the blockade, but by no means a complete lifting of it.
U.S. National Security Advisor, Ambassador John Bolton meets Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for dinner at the Prime Minister’s Residence, Jerusalem, August 19, 2018.

Reza Aslan says he was asked about his views of Netanyahu by Israeli interrogator; Shin Bet denies the Iranian-born author was threatened
Netanyahu was quick to distance himself from an incident that was totally outrageous and completely predictable at the same time
As those crises and controversies accumulate, the explanations stretch and strain but cannot cover the concern that what we’re witnessing is our democracy under assault from within.
Israel cares little for American sovereignty. It’s prime ministers Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu have both boasted how they control the United States.
There is no limit to his demagoguery. As if this were the story; as if civil rights were conditioned on loyalty tests.
The opposition leaders in general, and Labor chairman Avi Gabbay in particular, repeatedly fall into the traps Netanyahu sets for them, allowing him to dictate the public agenda while they participate in the discourse of incitement. Instead of attacking Netanyahu for the nation-state law, the leader of the opposition finds himself babbling about the right of return, as if this is the most burning issue now.
(1.8.2018) Indeed, the ‘special relationship’ between Netanyahu and Orban is only the tip of the iceberg. For years, Netanyahu’s Israel has been ‘flirting’ with radical right movements in Europe.
The unmistakable Israeli strategy, of course, has its own logic. Israeli leaders feel that Europe’s move to the far-right is irrevocable and are keen to benefit from the anti-Muslim sentiment that accompanies this shift as much as possible.
Moreover, the EU’s resolve to label illegal settlement products and refusal to heed calls for moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is pushing Netanyahu to explore these new routes.

In her speech, Livni railed against the right-wing government, called for early elections and said the opposition would pass the Declaration of Independence as a basic law in lieu of the nation-state law passed by the right-wing coalition on July 19.
As part of the war that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is waging against the “enemy within” – that is, anyone who thinks differently than he does – the state has adopted the despicable practices of a thought police in its attempt to intimidate and silence opponents of the occupation from Israel and abroad.
Netanyahu’s zealous dissolution of democratic norms is a critical moral and political mistake. It’s leading U.S. Jews to question even attenuated support for the Jewish state, while framing Israel as an unreliable, undesirable ally for America
Livni is right. The left has been the victim of incitement for a generation now, which Netanyahu began as opposition leader when he led opposition to the Oslo Accords. And the unbridled incitement against the left didn’t die down following Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination. On the contrary, it spread and become fashionable political discourse and the main agenda of the right, especially Netanyahu.
On Wednesday, during a speech at a naval parade in Haifa, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to deploy the Israeli military to Yemen if the country’s resistance movement blocks the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Yemen’s western coast.
(17.7.2018) Netanyahu does not explain in the video aired by Kan how he convinced Trump to exit the deal. Trump had vowed to scrap what he assailed as the “worst deal ever” before becoming president.
BINYAMIN NETANYAHU is a perfect diplomat, a clever politician, a talented leader of the army. Lately, another jewel has been added to his crown: he is also a gifted story-teller.
The Union of Journalists in Israel said that it „takes seriously the decision to fire cartoonist Katz from The Jerusalem Post because of his critical cartoon. Causing harm to a journalist because he expressed an opinion, lte alone when it was approved by his editors, is a dangerous step that must not be accepted. We call on Katz’s editors to retract this unacceptable step.“
As a result of the firing, Tel Aviv’s upcoming Animix Festival, which celebrates animation, comic books, and cartoons, will feature an exhibit on freedom of speech.
According to a statement made by the Russian embassy, „The talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were very constructive.“
(23.7.2018) While American politicians and pundits fumed at President Donald Trump’s performance at his much-anticipated meeting this week with Russian President Vladimir Putin, lost in the clamor was one small but crucial moment: Israel emerged from Helsinki a winner.
Trump said that he and Putin had reached a “really good conclusion” for Israel in regard to the situation in Syria.
(11.5.2018) Israeli PM has lobbied hard to keep Russia from providing advanced anti-air system to Syria. Top aide to Putin now says Assad has all it needs.
Trump’s unflinching support for Israel — perhaps a result of evangelical enthusiasm for the country, ideological nudging from his Jewish daughter and son-in-law or the continued need to rebuke all things Obama — is well documented.
But Putin’s continuing support for the Jewish state is unexpected, especially since he backs Syria’s Bashar Assad, a war criminal whose prosaic regional interests often defy Israel’s.
Netanyahu also referred to the ideological tie linking the two governments: „Both of us understand that radical Islam presents a true threat“ to Europe, Israel and Arab countries.
„Iran is the greatest threat and we are the front-line protecting Europe as well,“ Netanyahu said.
President Reuven Rivlin, who represents the liberal part of the Israeli right wing and has publicly criticized parts of the nation-state law, also understands this link.
Look around. The country looks the same. But it doesn’t feel the same. Not even close. A day of mourning has come
(10.7.2018) Benjamin Netanyahu has a message for you. ‚Jewish‘ is not what this state is. Our message, our mission has become something else. And it starts with an F.
With the backing of his ideological partner, Hungary’s leader has used the refugee crisis to erode his country’s democracy. First of a three-part series
The U.S. president says Russian counterpart ‚helps Israel and will continue to help Israel. This is good for all of us‘ and claims Putin is a ‚great believer in Israel, a fan of Bibi‘
The State of Israel has no oil wells. It has no gold mines. What has it got? It has the ownership of the remembrance of the Holocaust.
That is worth a lot. Everyone who wants to clean himself from the stain needs a certificate from the State of Israel. Such a document is worth very much. And the larger the guilt of the applicant, the higher the price of the dispensation.
However, the prime minister had to make it look like something was being done, in light of the fires that keep raging in Israeli border communities. The media and right-wing critics have already pushed Netanyahu into a military operation he didn’t want in the Gaza Strip, twice: Operation Pillar of Defense (2012) and Operation Protective Edge (2014). This time, he looked better prepared to stand firm in the breach, but not to take responsibility.
Assad has been the world’s leading villain for years, but Russia’s involvement changes the picture. Israel wants to protect its security interests – and democratization will wait
(9.4.2018) PM previously discussed possibility of Israel hosting a meeting of the Visegrad group, four countries whose governments are considered the most right-wing in Europe
Ausgerechnet Israels Premier Netanyahu nimmt Ministerpräsident Orbán in Schutz.
Velayati took the opportunity to censure a „rebellious“ President Donald Trump, who abandoned a historic nuclear deal with Iran and five major world powers in May. He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who met with Putin on Wednesday, just as Velayati arrived in Moscow. Velayati said on Wednesday that Netanyahu’s visit to Putin would not affect his own discussion with the Russian leader.
Moscow had earlier invited the Israeli prime minister to attend the final game of the FIFA World Cup on July 15, where Netanyahu could have found himself in the stadium together with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Yet Netanyahu, who is reluctant to meet with Abbas, opted for an earlier visit, while the Palestinian leader will come for the final as originally planned.
