Oil prices rise 5%, and stocks drop worldwide after Trump says ceasefire with Iran is ‘over’

Oil prices rose, and stock markets dropped in shaky trading worldwide Wednesday after President Donald Trump raised doubts about the temporary truce in the war with Iran.

The S&P 500 fell as much as 1.1% after Trump said the agreement to pause fighting was “over,” but the index then trimmed its loss to 0.3% after Trump said the most recent exchange of fire with the Islamic Republic did not herald a return to full-scale war. They’re his latest mixed messages on what will happen with the war, which threatens to worsen inflation for the world.

When the Ayatollah Said No to Nukes

(September / October 2014)

A few Iranian sources have previously pointed to a fatwa by the Islamic Republic’s first supreme leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, prohibiting chemical weapons as the explanation for why Iran did not deploy these weapons during the war with Iraq. But no details have ever been made public on when and how Khomeini issued such a fatwa, so it has been ignored for decades.

Now, however, the wartime chief of the Iranian ministry responsible for military procurement has provided an eyewitness account of Khomeini’s ban not only on chemical weapons, but on nuclear weapons as well. In an interview with me in Tehran in late September, Mohsen Rafighdoost, who served as minister of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) throughout the eight-year war, revealed that he had proposed to Khomeini that Iran begin working on both nuclear and chemical weapons — but was told in two separate meetings that weapons of mass destruction are forbidden by Islam.

Iran’s rejection of nuclear weapons based on religious beliefs, fatwa: Pezeshkian

(February 26, 2026)

President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated Iran’s opposition to nuclear weapons, saying the policy is rooted in “theological“ beliefs and a religious decree issued by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei banning nuclear arms.

„When the religious leader explicitly states that we will not pursue nuclear weapons, this is a position rooted in theological and jurisprudential beliefs, not a political tactic that can be changed,” Pezeshkian said while speaking during a visit to the northern province of Mazandaran on Thursday, highlighting the fatwa (religious decree) that had been issued by Ayatollah Khamenei forbidding nuclear arms.

Netanyahu says ‚there is no room for two states‘

“Another principle of the government, of the broad national government that I intend to lead, is that there is no room for two states. Between the sea and the Jordan River, there is no room for two states,” he told reporters.

“Now, you ask me, three years ago, before the war, the public was divided on this issue. Although I believe that most of the public was opposed, a significant portion supported it. I think that has changed. This is now a basis for agreement.”

Earlier, he described the framework agreement with Lebanon as a „historic accomplishment“ and a „massive blow to Iran and Hezbollah“.

Netanyahu said the understandings reached with Lebanon and the US recognise Israel‘s right to maintain a security zone inside southern Lebanon for as long as it considers necessary.

Tabu hinter „Verschwörungstheorie“: Hierarchie und Befehlskette

(May 2, 2017)

Beispiel 3:

PrĂ€sident A will sein „Einflussgebiet“ („Area of Influence“) vergrĂ¶ĂŸern.

Man will doch nicht streiten. Wo doch alle profitieren, von der Lage.

Eine Verschwörung hat nicht stattgefunden. Es sind einfach alle vernĂŒnftig.

Why has Iran’s air defence network failed so badly?

(March 3, 2026)

Iranian air defence sites have been subjected to aggressive electromagnetic spectrum operations but in tandem, its defences have also been targeted kinetically.

For long-range defence, Iran has developed the Bavar-373 which has comparable capabilities to the Russian S-300. For short range air defence, the country has reverse engineered the Chinese HQ-7 as the Ya Zahr, and in 2021 the Zoubin system was unveiled.

Besides these copy cat systems, the country also leans on ageing Russian air defences, most notably the S-300PMU-2 battery.

Magnetic effect on CO 2 solubility in seawater: A possible link between geomagnetic field variations and climate

(August 2008)

Correlations between geomagnetic-field and climate parameters have been suggested repeatedly, but possible links are controversially discussed. Here we test if weak (Earth-strength) magnetic fields can affect climatically relevant properties of seawater. We found the solubility of air in seawater to be by 15% lower under reduced magneticfield (20 mT) compared to normal field conditions (50 mT). The magnetic-field effect on CO2 solubility is twice as large, from which we surmise that geomagnetic field variations modulate the carbon exchange between atmosphere and ocean. A 1% reduction in magnetic dipole moment may release up to ten times more CO2 from the surface ocean than is emitted by subaerial volcanism.
