Miller’s very being evokes the cold mechanization of a machine, a body turned against itself, moving without rhythm, empathy, or grace. His presence feels engineered: cold, scarred, and hollowed out, the body made into an instrument of command. It is as if a war within himself has long since been lost, a war against vulnerability, imagination, and the capacity to feel. What remains is a man armored against life itself.

Trump has described Miller as sitting “at the top of the totem pole” inside the White House.
“He oversees every policy the administration touches,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told us. “I can’t tell you the number of times a policy matter is discussed in the Oval and Trump will say, ‘Where’s Stephen? Tell him to get that done.’”
To critics, Miller is the smirking embodiment of everything they view as dangerous and authoritarian about the Trump administration. He has been called a Nazi, a neo-Nazi, a white supremacist, a kapo, and Lord Voldemort. Posters of Miller—pursed lips, furrowed brow—have been plastered around the nation’s capital, stamped with CREEP and FASCISM AIN’T PRETTY. His own uncle has denounced him, writing at one point that if Miller’s immigration policies had been implemented a century ago, their family—which fled anti-Jewish pogroms in Europe—“would have been wiped out.”

„By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland?“ Miller asked. „Nobody is going to fight the United States militarily over the future of Greenland.“
He went on to assert that there are „iron laws of the world“.
„We live in a world, in the real world… that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power,“ he said.
It was heady stuff coming on the heels of America‘s surgically precise use of military force in Venezuela. And, for a president who a few days later would tell the New York Times that the only limit on his global powers are „my own morality“ and „my own mind“, it may have been warmly received.

Schäfer hielt sich aber nicht zurück. Nach ihrer Haftentlassung stellte sie in ihrem Mietshaus gegenüber ihren Mietern Kriegserfolge der Wehrmacht infrage. Das war ihr Todesurteil. Stichwort: „Wehrkraftzersetzung“. Ihre Hinrichtung erfolgte am 23. Februar 1945. Die Geschichte lehrt uns: Auf die Meinungsfreiheit kommt es vor allem dann an, wenn sie sich gegen die vorherrschende Politik richtet.
Just before noon, the White House blamed a staffer for the video posted to Trump’s Truth Social account and said the post had been removed. The statement came after serious backlash, including from GOP Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black Republican in the Senate, who called the post racist and said Trump should remove it.
The White House initially dismissed criticism that the video was racist, and said it is from a meme depicting Trump and the Obamas as characters from the Lion King. Trump does not appear in the video, which he posted just before midnight on Feb. 5 with no accompanying text.
But by noon ET on Feb. 6 ‒ after the post had been up about 12 hours ‒ it no long appeared on Truth Social. A White House official told USA TODAY on Feb. 6 a White House staffer had erroneously made the post and that it was taken down.
In the past two months, federal immigration agents have arrested thousands in the Twin Cities, detaining citizens, asylum-seekers, refugees and the undocumented. They have killed two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti. And they have stopped people seemingly at random, asking for identification or simply demanding: “Where were you born?”
Now, many people here are asking a question that is a novel one in America: Is it safe to leave home without proof of citizenship? Has the United States turned into a show-me-your-papers nation?
For many Minnesotans, the answer has been an unequivocal yes.
“Either the American people are able to wrest power from the current fascist leaders or those leaders will continue to radicalize, using violence and terror to dismantle democracy.”

We have entered a time of great-power politics. The international order of the past three decades – anchored in international law – has always been imperfect. Today, its very foundations have been shaken.
This new world of great powers is being built on power, on strength and when it comes to it, on force. It is not a cozy place.
We do not have to accept this new reality as fate. We are not at the mercy of this new world order.
We do have a choice. We can shape the future. To succeed, we must face harsh realities and chart our course with clear-eyed realism.

Wir grüßen unsere russischen Brüder, die vor vier Tagen schmählich davongejagt worden sind.« Liebknecht wies dann auf das Hauptportal des Schlosses und rief mit erhobener Stimme: »Durch dieses Tor wird die neue sozialistische Freiheit der Arbeiter und Soldaten einziehen. Wir wollen an der Stelle, wo die Kaiserstandarte wehte, die rote Fahne der freien Republik Deutschland hissen!«
Die Soldaten der Schloßwache, die auf dem Dach sichtbar waren, schwenkten die Helme und grüßten zur Menge herab, die auf das Tor zudrängte. Es wurde langsam geöffnet, um dem Automobil Liebknechts Einlaß zu gewähren. Die Menge wurde davon zurückgehalten, zu folgen. Nach einigen Minuten erschienen, von der Menge stürmisch begrüßt, die Soldaten der Schloßwache ohne Waffen und Gepäck. Kurze Zeit darauf zeigte sich Liebknecht mit Gefolgschaft auf dem Balkon, von dessen Grau sich eine breite rote Decke abhob.
»Parteigenossen«, begann Liebknecht, »der Tag der Freiheit ist angebrochen. Nie wieder wird ein Hohenzoller diesen Platz betreten. Vor 70 Jahren stand hier am selben Ort Friedrich Wilhelm IV. und mußte vor dem Zug der auf den Barrikaden Berlins für die Sache der Freiheit Gefallenen, vor den fünfzig blutüberströmten Leichnamen seine Mütze abnehmen. Ein anderer Zug bewegt sich heute hier vorüber. Es sind die Geister der Millionen, die für die heilige Sache des Proletariats ihr Leben gelassen haben. Ob Präsident oder nicht, wir müssen alle zusammenstehen, um das Ideal der Republik zu verwirklichen. Hoch die Freiheit und das Glück und der Frieden!«
Bald darauf wurde an dem Mast der Kaiserstandarte die rote Fahne gehißt.

Bei genauerem Hinsehen zeigt sich, dass weder der genaue Ort noch der Inhalt von Scheidemanns Rede noch der Ablauf der Ereignisse im Zusammenhang mit Scheidemanns Auftritt an diesem Tag bis heute abschließend geklärt sind. Obwohl Scheidemanns Auftritt in der demokratischen Erinnerungskultur der Deutschen eine hohe symbolische Bedeutung für die Etablierung der ersten deutschen Republik und die Demokratieentwicklung in unserem Land insgesamt zugemessen wird, sind die diesem Auftritt zugrundeliegenden Fakten bis heute nicht restlos geklärt. Wesentlicher Grund hierfür ist, dass die in der tagesaktuellen Presse veröffentlichten Berichte nur unzulänglich und teilweise auch widersprüchlich auf den Auftritt Scheidemanns eingehen, da die revolutionären Ereignisse und Aktionen im Vordergrund der Berichterstattung standen.
Auch Originalfotos des Ereignisses sind nicht überliefert – die bekannten Fotos, die Scheidemann bei einer Rede zeigen, sind entweder später nachgestellt oder bei einer anderen Gelegenheit aufgenommen worden.
Die meisten in der Geschichtswissenschaft für die Rekonstruktion der Abläufe vom 9. November 1918 herangezogenen Quellen zum Auftritt Scheidemanns wurden im Nachhinein verfasst und sind von den nachfolgenden Entwicklungen und durch persönliche Interpretationen der Verfasser beeinflusst worden.
Der 9. November steht für einschneidende Ereignisse in der deutschen Geschichte. Die Novemberrevolution 1918, die Reichspogromnacht 1938 und Fall der Berliner Mauer 1989 fanden allesamt an dem Tag statt.

Odeh also urged Germany to recognize a Palestinian state, saying that the only request he had of U.S. President Donald Trump when he came to address Israel’s Knesset in October was to recognize a Palestinian state. “So, I ask you too: Germany – recognize Palestine! Recognize that there are two people in our shared homeland, both with the right to self-determination,” he cried out, to great applause.
Regarding Germany, Odeh said that Berlin “carries the scars of the 20th century and stands as a living reminder of how far human cruelty can go when power is absolute. When racism is normalized and people are dehumanized. But a city like Berlin can be both a graveyard for history, resistance culture and rebirth,” he said. Odeh also said the history of Berlin teaches that “silence in the face of injustice is deadly. It was silence that made the greatest crime of the century possible. And yet, today we see silence return, dressed up in diplomatic language.”

Yet to see the past two years not only through the prism of genocide but also as a second Nakba — a sustained project of erasure aimed at destroying both a people and the space they inhabit — may bring us closer to grasping the nature of Israel’s actions. Whereas genocide is often understood as violence for its own sake, the Nakba represents violence with a purpose: the removal and replacement of a people.
And yet, as a Jewish-Israeli faced with the horrors of the past two years, I cannot help but think in Holocaust terms. The destruction of Gaza has enabled me to better understand not only the stories of the victims but also of the perpetrators — the silent majority who facilitated atrocities through their actions and the stories they tell themselves to justify it all.

Anspruch des Nationalismus: Das eigene Land vor allen Anderen zu retten.
Souveränität hingegen bedeutet, zu gleichen Teilen das eigene Land vor allen Anderen, vor der eigenen Regierung, vor sich selbst und wenn nötig auch alle Anderen vor dem eigenen Land retten.
Nationalismus und / oder „Identitäre“ beziehen sich auf das Vaterland, die Nation, die entsprechende Flagge, sowie auf eine vermeintlich homogene und praktisch seit tausenden von Jahren unveränderte Kultur, Sprache und die Identität.
Souveränität begreift, dass das Vaterland immer das Vaterland und die Nation immer die Nation bleiben wird. Wenn man also im besten Falle eine Republik, oder zumindest eine andere Form der Demokratie (wie z.B. eine konstitutionelle Monarchie, siehe Spanien, Großbritannien oder Dänemark) haben will, muss man das sagen. Vaterland und Nation reichen dazu als Begriffe nicht aus. Vaterland und Nation gibt es auch, wenn der Absolutismus in Form eines Monarchen, Fürsten, Kaders, oder sonstigen Diktators regiert. Und dann ist nur dieser Souverän, aber nicht das Volk. Also keine Souveränität ohne Demokratie.

As the descendant of a Jewish family from Poland, the words “never again” have significant meaning for me. In the aftermath of the Second World War, humankind vowed to never again allow such atrocities to occur. The Holocaust, the mass extermination of the Jewish people, plumbed the very depths of tyrannical evil. Precisely because of this heritage, I view “never again” as a universal imperative.
In 1948, the international community adopted the universal declaration of human rights and the convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide. In the decades since, we have failed globally many times to safeguard this invaluable truth: that people must not perish in flames, and such heinous crimes must not be perpetrated while outsiders stand idly by. But never in recent times have people around the world started into the abyss of annihilation as we are doing today in Gaza. As such, “never again” is not merely a moral reminder but an ethical decree to act.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, as the saying goes. It seems that Netanyahu manages to fool western leaders time and time again. On Friday, in response to the IPC declaration of famine, the UK foreign secretary, David Lammy, said it was an “utterly horrifying and wholly preventable man-made catastrophe”. May I ask Lammy and the rest of the British cabinet – are you among the people responsible for this catastrophe?
Was ist also mit jenen, die schon früh das Richtige gesagt haben? Was ist mit jenen, die das Grauen in Gaza nicht schweigend hingenommen und dafür einen hohen Preis bezahlt haben? Die Liste der Betroffenen ist lang und im Archive of Silence und dem Index of Repression ausführlich dokumentiert. Besonders drastische Beispiele lieferten die Technische Universität München, wo Studierende, die an einer palästinasolidarischen Veranstaltung teilnehmen wollten, von der Polizei in einem Raum eingesperrt und anschließend wegen »Hausfriedensbruch« angezeigt wurden, obwohl sie von der Universität selbst dort hineingelockt worden waren.
Weitere eindrückliche Beispiele sind die Entlassung Melanie Schweizers aus dem Arbeitsministerium, die Absagen gleich mehrerer Veranstaltungen mit der UN-Sonderberichterstatterin Francesca Albanese, die Kündigung von Helen Fares durch den SWR, die rechtswidrige Auflösung des Palästina-Kongresses in Berlin, die Absage der »Talking about (the Silencing of) Palestine«-Konferenz in Frankfurt oder die Einstufung der Jüdischen Stimme für gerechten Frieden und Palästina Spricht als extremistische Organisationen durch den Verfassungsschutz. Die Liste ließe sich endlos fortführen – und sie bleibt notwendig unvollständig.

A political consultant once related how he lunched with Benjamin Netanyahu, who ordered a hamburger with fries. He was not supposed to be eating such foods – doctor’s orders. As they were finishing up, Bibi’s wife, Sarah, came in, saw the evidence and began to see red. Netanyahu, all righteous indignation, looked her straight in the eye and said he had eaten no such hamburger. The storyteller said he was convinced at that moment that Netanyahu himself believed it.
If apocryphal, it is definitely in character. Netanyahu regularly embraces bad ideas or even lies so totally that he convinces himself of their rightness. Others start to believe them too. His outlandish idea, uttered in a speech, was that Hitler would have been happy with just expelling Jews if a Palestinian, the then grand mufti of Jerusalem, had not suggested annihilation instead.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Adolf Hitler didn‘t want to kill the Jews, but a Muslim convinced him to do it.
Holocaust historians disagree.
How can a country that professes to be a gatekeeper of international law staunchly defend a state that so flagrantly violates it? How does a country that has spent 80 years cultivating a culture of remembrance, responsibility, and moral accountability show ironclad commitment to arresting one international war criminal, while warmly welcoming another? And how can a country that utilizes the image of the ruins of Dresden to teach its schoolchildren about the dangers of dehumanization and fascism be so blind to its own complicity in an unfolding catastrophe?
Starving at Bergen-Belsen alongside my mother, perhaps in the same barracks, was Hanna Levy-Hass, mother of Haaretz journalist Amira Hass. Hanna was one of the few people to keep a diary throughout her time at Bergen-Belsen, which survived and was later published.
In February 1945, she wrote: “Hunger crushes the spirit. I feel my physical and intellectual strength diminishing. Things escape me, I can’t think properly, can’t grasp events, can’t realize the full horror of the situation.
“Our hunger has only become fiercer,” the diary entry went on. “Our bodies have been demolished by it, we all drag ourselves around like rags; men literally drop to the ground from exhaustion and end up dying of hunger, simple as that.”
Eighty years later, in a dispatch this week from Khan Younis in southern Gaza, +972 Magazine journalist Ruwaida Amer wrote, “For about a month now, though, I’ve lost the ability to follow the news. My focus is slipping. My body is breaking down.”
In the weeks leading to Germany’s 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union, Reich Minister of Food Richard Darre and his state secretary, Herbert Backe, developed the Hunger Plan, a strategy of deliberate starvation to exterminate Soviet civilians and Jews while feeding German troops.
It killed at least seven million people, not as collateral, but by design.
The Nazi regime’s food ration system reflected a racial hierarchy: 100 percent for Germans, 70 percent for Poles, 30 percent for Greeks and 20 percent for Jews.
In the Jewish ghettos, food was weaponised. Access to meat or bread was controlled. Shops were empty. Hunger was not a failure – it was policy.
“That we sentence 1.2 million Jews to die of hunger should be noted only marginally,” Hans Frank, the Nazi governor of occupied Poland, wrote in a diary entry.
