‘This Must Stop’: Call Grows for US Lawmakers to Pass Lebanon War Powers Resolution

The brief resolution would require the US to end unauthorized military cooperation with Israel within seven days of being passed, which proponents said may also limit the ability of the US military to share intelligence and coordinate targets with Israel.

Tlaib and other progressives like Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) initially pushed for the resolution to be brought to a House vote during the week of May 18, but it was kicked until after lawmakers returned from recess.

In the meantime, several cosponsors have signed onto the resolution, bringing the total up to 17. They include Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Greg Casar (D-Texas) and Rep. André Carson (D-Ind.), who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Area members of Congress face another Iran ‘war powers’ vote

When Congress returns to work in June, both the House and Senate are expected to vote on resolutions that would force Trump to stop military strikes against Iran, what’s known as a “war powers” resolution.

House GOP leaders postponed a vote on that before Memorial Day — worried that Republicans would lose that vote for a first time.

Tom Steyer for Governor of California

Yes, Tom Steyer is a billionaire. But it matters what he is doing with that power: pushing for taxes on the wealthy, expanding universal programs, and dismantling corporate influence in our politics.

This is also about winning.

In a high-stakes race where Republicans could take the top spot, consolidating behind a candidate who is both values-aligned and building momentum is essential. Our organizers on the ground in California are seeing real energy around Steyer for Governor — and that grassroots engagement helped drive this decision.

Our Revolution, Nation’s Largest Independent Grassroots Political Organization, Endorses Steyer

(April 20, 2026)

SAN FRANCISCO – Today, Our Revolution, America’s largest grassroots independent political organizing group, announced its endorsement of Tom Steyer for Governor of California, joining a surge of prominent endorsers getting behind Steyer’s campaign as early voting approaches. Our Revolution was founded as a continuation of Bernie Sanders’s historic 2016 presidential campaign and works to mobilize voters and elect progressive candidates across the country. In the coming months, it will mobilize its more than one million Californian members to organize and volunteer in support of Steyer’s candidacy.

In California, Vote Against the Forces Destroying Democracy

It is painful that the one person who has spent the past decades aggressively supporting democracy, fighting for immigrant rights, fighting the tendency toward oligarchy in our politics, and challenging the fossil fuel industry is himself a billionaire. But the facts are that Tom Steyer will not veto the billionaire’s tax, has pledged to support closing the Water’s Edge Tax loophole, and has pledged to not take fossil fuel money.

Court blocks Alabama congressional map, saying state intentionally discriminated by race

The panel of three judges instead ordered Alabama to continue using a court-selected map that includes two majority-Black districts. Those congressional district lines were used in the 2024 elections.

In their decision, the judges found that the redistricting plan adopted by Alabama‘s GOP-led legislature in 2023, which state officials sought to reimplement for this year‘s House contests, intentionally discriminated on the basis of race, in violation of the Constitution‘s 14th Amendment.

Trump-backed redistricting plan is rejected in the South Carolina Legislature

Trump had been pushing state Republicans to redraw voting lines so they could flip a seat currently held by Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn. It would have made all the state‘s seven congressional districts lean Republican and it would have extended the GOP lead in the national redistricting race, already netting them around nine more seats in the U.S. House.

Meeks Statement on Republicans Pulling Iran War Powers Vote

(May 21, 2026)

„Let’s be clear: Republicans pulled this vote because they knew they were going to lose it. They know this war is a political and strategic disaster. They know that as Americans head into Memorial Day weekend paying over 4.50 a gallon at the pump, they cannot go home and explain they voted to keep this war going. So instead of casting that vote, they ran from it.

„This is not over. When the House returns, Republicans will have no choice but to take this vote. Democrats will not stop fighting until Congress reasserts its constitutional authority and this war is brought to an end.“

Democrats on the brink of war powers breakthrough

(May 18, 2026)

Democratic lawmakers are on the verge of passing a resolution to end President Trump’s war with Iran — with some help from a steadily growing group of Republicans.

In the House and Senate, resolutions under the 1973 War Powers Act this past week saw more members of Trump’s party crossing the aisle to vote in favor of the so-far failed measures, with others voicing their support for a future resolution.

Beyond Westminster’s chaos, a new grassroots left is taking shape

A flavour of what may be its future was seen in a Your Party meeting I attended in Dewsbury, in West Yorkshire, three weeks ago. As Your Party-leaning candidates reported on their experience and intentions, one theme emerged clearly: the centrality of community-level organising and support, like that Corbyn’s community-skills programme advocated for seven years ago.

Could this grow into something substantial? Ordinarily, maybe not, but there are three years to the next general election, and it is obvious that Your Party is playing it long. The Labour Party is unlikely to seriously challenge neoliberal economics within that time, but Your Party most certainly will.

Decades of Congressional Inaction Contributed to Illegal US-Israeli War on Iran

(May 11, 2026)

Members of Congress must now decide whether they will honor their oaths to uphold the Constitution, or hand all power without accountability to the executive branch, effectively sanctioning an imperial presidency. The stakes are as high as ever, and not only limited to the current war with Iran, but also the future of democratic governance in the United States.

The Race for Congress: Latest 2026 Polls

Recent polling on the congressional generic ballot shows Democrats with a modest advantage. The party out of power typically gains ground in midterm elections, and these early surveys suggest this may be taking shape ahead of 2026. Democrats lead in the vast majority of recent polls, though by single-digit margins. However, with redistricting efforts underway in several states, the national vote share that Democrats need to retake the House will depend on the extent of these changes.

‚No Kings‘ protests draw large crowds in cities, towns across US

Huge crowds of protesters took to the streets in more than 3,000 cities and towns across the country Saturday to again call out President Donald Trump and his polices, with organizers saying this one could be the biggest so far.

The „No Kings“ protests are the latest since October and organizers said they are looking to send a message addressing what they call „the constant chaos of the Trump administration“ since then. Organizers said later in the day that an estimated 8 million people took part in the demonstrations.

What we covered
By CNN staff

• Widespread protests: “No Kings” demonstrations have taken place from coast to coast today, with attendees rallying against President Donald Trump’s policies, the rising cost of living and the war with Iran.

• On the ground: Throughout the day, crowds gathered to march, sing, dance and wave signs in major cities, suburbs and small towns across red and blue states, with huge marches taking place in Los Angeles and New York. A marquee event in Minnesota featured a Bruce Springsteen performance and a slate of high-profile speakers.

• Third round: Last year, millions of people attended largely peaceful protests on two “No Kings” days. Since then, Trump’s nationwide immigration enforcement blitz has come and gone in several major cities. Now, Americans are facing skyrocketing gas prices and a flagging economy due to the war.

A manifesto from Iran: No to war

(March 2, 2026)

Netanyahu and the hawks in Washington are explicitly aiming, through warmongering rhetoric, sanctions, and threats, to destabilize and weaken our country. The tragedies of January 2026 — like any other suffering — can in no way justify war, nor the imposition of further pain on our compatriots, nor the destruction of Iran in any form.

We, Iranians of different political affiliations, unhesitatingly oppose any aggression against our country. We are convinced that the solution — however difficult to achieve — lies within Iran itself: in constructive change, in the renewal of society, in transformation from the bottom up. This is the way forward. Not war.

That is why we call for a strong and unanimous voice to be raised against any warmongering logic. In the face of any aggression, we will stand by our country. And we invite all our fellow citizens — especially those with a voice, visibility, and credibility — to join this opposition with even greater determination.

Khanna, Massie to sit together during Trump’s State of the Union

Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) — the bipartisan pair who bonded amid an effort to pressure the Justice Department to release the Epstein files — will sit alongside one another during Trump’s address Tuesday evening.

Republicans and Democrats generally sit with members of their own party during the State of the Union, but Khanna and Massie have forged an unlikely friendship amid their push for transparency on the deceased sex offender’s political and financial ties.

Getting Your Party Back on Track

Getting Your Party back on track means campaigning tirelessly on the issues that matter most to people, from the cost-of-living to opposing racism and war.

But it also means empowering Your Party members to organise most effectively and make decisions collectively. For that, we need iron-clad democratic commitments that ensure all members can play their full part — not democratic posturing behind which small sects seek outsized influence.

So here are The Many’s six priorities to build a truly member-led party:

1. Set Up Official Branches — so all members can get organised.

2. Defend OMOV — so all members get to decide, not the sects.

3. Establish Members’ Policy Commissions — so policies are shaped by the people they will affect.

4. Review the Finances and Data — so all members can have trust, nothing off limits.

5. Organise the Liberation Sections — so members from every background are empowered.

6. Report Back Monthly — so the collective leadership is accountable to all members, not just itself.
