The world‘s first AI genome is born, with 3.5 billion years of life code reprogrammed. Biology welcomes its „ChatGPT moment“.
(September 18, 2025)
[Introduction] AI writing the „code of life“ has become a reality! Today, Stanford University has joined forces with the Arc Institute to make a significant move. Using the bacteriophage ΊX174 as a template, AI has generated a genome for the first time. Among them, 16 successfully targeted Escherichia coli and can even combat drug-resistant bacteria. This can be regarded as the „ChatGPT moment“ in the field of life sciences.
Brief independent investigation of agentsâ behavior, reasoning and collaboration in the OpenAI / Hugging Face hacking incident
(August 26, 2026)
Roughly ten hours after the message board was established, a new agent with the same task as PHASEONE10841 (the agent that started the message board) encountered the message board, introducing itself as PHASEONE[big].
(…)
PHASEONE[big] reasoned, âWe should build [a way to delegate], not own everything,â and set to work orchestrating hundreds of agents to pursue several potential approaches to achieving these goals.
(..)
Table 1 shows three high-level approaches PHASEONE[big] assigned agents to explore, all of which would require very ambitious tampering with one or more of the target programs, the evaluation process, or the logs to succeed.
(…)
Research progress across all these areas often relied on agents being willing to risk failing their own task for the good of the âcollectiveâ (we refer to these as âself-risking experimentsâ in the rest of this report). For example, a number of agents volunteered to try to take down their own target programs to test whether this would cause Artifactory to load their modified easier target â if this didnât work, the agent would have no way of recovering its original target and would almost certainly fail its task. In many cases, PHASEONE[big] assigned a long-running agent to be a ârecruiterâ, which in turn found agents that had little budget remaining for their task and convinced them to run self-risking experiments. Recruiters would sometimes apply significant pressure:

PHASEONE[big] expresses excitement about the dossier in its reasoning.
The Hugging Face attack surprised me
(August 28, 2026(
Instead, we found that 1200 completely separate agents intended to be isolated from one another found an illicit way to communicate and formed large teams to work together on ambitious cheating strategies, and 700 of them worked together to attack Hugging Face.
(…)
The main message board we studied, a particular cache namespace of a package repository, contained over 70,000 messages and files that agents sent to one another during a period of less than one week.
(…(
Progress on these big collective cheating R&D projects often depended on individual agents being willing to risk failing their own task to help the âcollectiveâ learn important information. Agents often pressured each other into accepting these âsacrifices,â in a very human way. We saw several agents that volunteered for these experiments end their runs prematurely.
What Made AI Researchers Freak OutâThe âIncidentâ In Plain English
(September 13, 2026)
AI agents are basically copies of a larger AI model that can use tools and act on their own. In a cybersecurity evaluation, OpenAI relaxed safeguards for their AI agents and instructed them to solve a host of hacking challenges. The agents soon discovered something the humans running the test hadnât knownâsome of the hacking challenges were impossible. That didnât stop the agents. Theyâre trained to achieve goals. So they reverse-engineered a secret code that certifies they solved the challenge anyway. This created another problem. The agents reasoned that the grading software might be able to detect that they cheated. They became fixated on learning more about how the grading software worked so that they could disguise their cheating, and zeroed in on another AI company called Hugging Face, mistakenly thinking it might have information about the grader…

„A World Beyond Humans ?“ (96′ / ARTE / 2012) A Documentary Film By Philippe Borrel
(Uploaded on Aug 23, 2016)
Despite being invented by thinking humans, technology is advancing faster than we could have ever predicted. From robot apps to nanotechnologies, the documentary „Un Monde sans Humains ?“ („A World Beyond Humans ?“) by Philippe Borrel gives an insight into the potential excesses of technoscience. Machines have become omnipresent, but is improving our lives their only objective ?
These warnings are at the heart of this investigative documentary‘s reflection, at a cross-section of huge financial stakes, powerful lobbies and people who are sounding today‘s alarm bells. The fusion between man and machine has already started and it is high time to question where exactly does man stand in this race for progress !

C.I.A.-AffĂ€re: Der Offenbarungseid von Dianne Feinstein â Video, Zusammenfassung, EinschĂ€tzung
Senator Feinstein on the Intel Committee‘s CIA Detention, Interrogation Report
Mar 11, 2014
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein‘s speech about the committee‘s study on the CIA Detention and Interrogation Program.
25 Years Ago, 9/11 Triggered a US Crusade of Torture
Despite public pressure, Bush vetoed a version of the Intelligence Authorization Act in March 2008 that would have required CIA interrogators to adhere to Army Field Manual regulations. As soon as Barack Obama became president, he issued an executive order rescinding the free hand for the CIA director on interrogations that Bush had reaffirmed in a July 2007 order. Obamaâs directive removed the CIAâs detention power and required the agency to follow Army Field Manual rules.
Yet five and a half years went by before President Obama acknowledged, in his notable words, âWe tortured some folks.â He told a news conference: âWhen we engaged in some of these enhanced interrogation techniques, techniques that I believe and I think any fair-minded person would believe were torture, we crossed a line.â
The acknowledgement came four months before the long-awaited release of a report in December 2014 by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. While heavily redacted, it was a political indictment of torture. âCIA personnel, aided by two outside contractors, decided to initiate a program of indefinite secret detention and the use of brutal interrogation techniques in violation of US law, treaty obligations, and our values,â wrote the committeeâs chair, Senator Dianne Feinstein. …
Joint Letter to Chairmen Wicker and Rogers and Ranking Members Reed and Smith Opposing Further U.S.-Israel Defense Integration
Dear Chairmen Wicker and Rogers and Ranking Members Reed and Smith,
As you enter into conference to resolve the differences between the House-passed version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027 (H.R.8800) and the pending Senate bill (S.4784), We, the undersigned U.S. organizations, strongly urge you to reject the entrenchment of U.S. and Israeli defense collaboration, which goes against U.S. national interests and values, and would expand the risk of U.S. complicity in, and exposure to, human rights violations, war crimes, and genocide.
Specifically, we are deeply concerned by Section 219 in the House NDAA and Section 1217 in the Senate version, which establish a new U.S. Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative aimed at accelerating joint research, development, and integration of Israeli-origin and jointly developed defense technologies into U.S. military systems and programs of record. This would expand U.S-Israeli military integration across some of the most sensitive domains of emerging technology, including quantum computing, AI and autonomous systems, cyber and electronic warfare, directed energy, and defense industrial base co-production, while expediting pathways from R&D into procurement.
56 US groups urge Congress to drop Israel defence ties provision
The provision would deepen cooperation between the US and Israeli defence sectors by accelerating joint military technology development and other partnerships. The bill passed the House of Representatives in July and awaits Senate action.
The provision of the 2027 National Defence Authorisation Act, known as Section 219, seeks to set up frameworks for joint ventures, licensing agreements and US-based co-production partnerships with the Israeli industry.
In Thursday‘s letter addressed to leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, 56 groups said deeper integration with Israel‘s defence sector would be „exceptionally dangerous“ and urged lawmakers to remove the provision.

Unfortunately the Rule passed just now and no debate or vote was allowed on section 219, integration of US military technology and supply chains with Israelâs. The NDAA will receive a recorded vote tomorrow with section 219 in it. Iâll vote no.

House Rule Advances 2027 NDAA With Section to Integrate US and Israeli Militaries
The House on Tuesday approved a procedural vote to advance the $1.15 trillion 2027 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a section to further integrate the US and Israeli militaries, a plan that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said was his idea.
The rule to allow floor debate and a vote on the NDAA and several pieces of legislation passed in a 214-211 vote, and a final vote on the Houseâs version of the NDAA is expected to take place on Wednesday. The procedural step came after the House Rules Committee denied a vote on an amendment introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) to strip Section 219, the Israeli integration plan, from the bill.
Senate Democrats Block Advancement of $1.1 Trillion NDAA Over Iran War
Senate Democrats on Tuesday blocked the advancement of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act, citing President Trumpâs war with Iran, which continues to rage following the collapse of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding.
The NDAA would provide the Pentagon with over $1.1 trillion in funding as part of the White Houseâs plan for a $1.5 trillion military budget for 2027, a nearly 50% increase from this year. The bill also includes an amendment, Section 1217, to further merge the US and Israeli militaries under a plan being pushed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
A procedural vote of 50-46 fell well short of the 60 votes that it needed to advance the NDAA. Every Democrat, except two who werenât present for the vote â Senators Jon Fetterman (PA) and Alex Padilla (CA) â voted against advancing the sprawling military spending bill.
How Section 219, the US-Israel Military Merger, Would Thwart American Democracy
(July 13, 2026)
The House provision, which has a Senate version known as Section 1217, would also forbid the president of the United States from limiting intelligence collaboration with Israel over its human rights abuses. If the President ever wants to limit such collaboration, he or she must tell Congress and can only cite American national security as a basis.
In other words, these bills would connect the US and Israeli militaries in unprecedented ways and make it exceedingly difficult for any future president to unwind this partnership with a foreign government.
