GEN. RYDER: — I would — yeah, that’s — that’s not — we’ve had U.S. forces serving at the embassy as part of the — the Defense Attaché Office, which is where these guys are assigned. So we’ve been very clear there are no combat forces in Ukraine, no U.S. forces conducting combat operations in Ukraine. These are personnel that are assigned to — to conduct security cooperation and assistance as part of the Defense Attaché Office.
Q: Right, but this would be different because they’d be working outside the U.S. embassy. I’m just wondering if people should read this as an escalation in U.S. involvement in the war?
GEN. RYDER: No, no, no, this is just responsible management of the capabilities that we’re providing to the Ukrainians. And as I mentioned, the Ukrainians are working very closely with us to provide insight and tracking of those capabilities in places where it’s not safe for U.S. personnel to go. Thank you.
Q: — if I can just follow up on that, can you clarify are these — are there U.S. troops, like U.S. Marines, security forces protecting the embassy personnel who is doing the inspections?
GEN. RYDER: We have U.S. Marines at the embassy doing normal U.S. Marine-type guard duties. But my understanding is that, to your point, these are not combat squads that are going out.
The fact that the massive funneling of arms into Ukraine by the US and NATO powers now requires the deployment of military personnel in Ukraine explodes the fiction that the US is not directly involved in the conflict, and is also revealing about the forces with which the US is allied.
To date, the United States has sent more than $50 billion in military and economic assistance to Ukraine. Having financed and supplied the war, the US wants to make sure it has direct control over where the weapons have ended up and how they are being used. This is part of the conflict within the American political establishment in advance of the midterm elections.
The Pentagon has not said how many weapons experts are in Ukraine or where they will operate.
Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said Tuesday the “embassy personnel” would be “far away from any type of frontline actions.”

Chinese warplanes buzzed the line dividing the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday shortly before the expected arrival in Taipei of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi for a visit that has pushed friction between Washington and Beijing to a new level.
The Chinese leadership has repeatedly warned against Pelosi, a long-time critic of Beijing, making a trip to self-ruled Taiwan, which China claims as its own.

For a major country like China, the consequence of having a relaxed mentality on national defense construction is unthinkable.
„We would like to tell the United States once again that China is standing by, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army will never sit idly by, and China will take resolute responses and strong countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,“ he said during a regular press briefing.
As to what exactly the measures will be, the world should „wait and see“, he added.

According to Buccino, the fuel tankers simulated refueling two US F-15s and four Israeli F-16s. The timing of the refueling exercise was coincidental, Buccino said.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile attack on Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, saying it was targeting an Israeli „strategic centre“.
Around a dozen missiles rained down on the city at 1am on Sunday morning.
The Pentagon on Wednesday slammed the door on a Polish proposal for providing Ukraine with MiG fighter jets, saying allied efforts against the Russian invasion should be focused on more useful weaponry and the MiG transfer with a U.S. and NATO connection would run a “high risk” of escalating the war.
“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action,“ the order reads. “The People’s Republics of Donbass turned to Russia with a request for help.
