GUIDO IS COMING DOWN AFTER 5 DAYS ON THE BRIDGE

After five days on top of the bridge, Guido is finally coming down.

Through wind, rain, and exhaustion, he stayed up there to sound the alarm about the wars in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, and Palestine and to remind all of us that silence is not an option.

He risked his life to send a message and now we all have a responsibility to do more.

Thank you, Guido.

Lebanon‘s Aoun rejects call with Netanyahu as Israel severs last bridge to the south

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun will not speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the near future, a senior Lebanese official told Middle East Eye, after reports of a planned phone call between the two leaders.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Beirut had informed Washington of Aoun’s position ahead of a call between the president and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday.

The development comes two days after the US hosted the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon in Washington, in the first such talks between the two countries since 1993.

Live Updates: US-Israeli strikes hit Iran’s oil, rail and bridges ahead of Trump deadline

– U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that a “whole civilization will die tonight,” but said Iran still has time to capitulate ahead of a deadline set for 8 p.m. EDT. The American leader issued the stark threat Tuesday, about 12 hours ahead of his deadline for Iran to agree to a deal that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

– The U.S. also struck military targets on the Iranian oil hub of Kharg Island, according to a White House official who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The attack marked the second time the island was targeted. Israeli warplanes, meanwhile, struck bridges and railways in Iran.

– Trump on Monday threatened to blow up every bridge and power plant in Iran, an action that would be so far-reaching that some experts in military law said it could constitute a war crime. Trump said that he’s “not at all” concerned about committing war crimes.

More than 32,000 pregnant women at risk due to fuel blockade against Cuba

According to official data, energy supply restrictions are primarily affecting the Maternal and Child Health Program, limiting pregnant women’s access to obstetric ultrasounds for fetal monitoring and genetic testing, essential for the timely diagnosis of malformations and complications.

The fuel shortage is also hindering the mobilization of medical teams responsible for evaluating cases of extremely severe maternal morbidity and critical newborns, in addition to causing delays in childhood vaccination schedules.

Health authorities indicated that these disruptions could significantly impact the 61,830 children under one year old who require special care during their first stage of life. Furthermore, care for children with specific needs, such as home ventilation, mechanical suction, and air conditioning, is jeopardized due to the unstable electricity supply and the limited availability of ambulances for urgent and emergency situations.

(May 8, 2025)

Alabama, Arkansas, California, New Jersey, Vermont and Virginia received the highest scores for CO safety. These states generally mandate CO detectors, run year-round public awareness efforts and coordinate among agencies to ensure compliance, according to the report. Many have emergency protocols in place to address higher CO risk during power outages, the report noted.

The report cited 13 states – Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas and West Virginia – as having limited or no statewide CO regulations and minimal public education.

Judge Restricts Immigration Agents’ Actions Toward Minnesota Protesters

Judge Kate M. Menendez ordered agents not to retaliate against people “engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity,” and not to use pepper spray or other “crowd dispersal tools” in retaliation for protected speech. The judge also said agents could not stop or detain protesters in vehicles who were not “forcibly obstructing or interfering with” agents.

The ruling, which granted a preliminary injunction, stems from a lawsuit brought by activists who said agents had violated their rights. The suit was filed before an immigration agent shot and killed Renee Good in Minneapolis on Jan. 7.

„Federal Invasion“: Minnesota Officials Condemn Violent ICE Raids, Arrests

(January 14, 2025)

Trump‘s immigration enforcement surge continues to rock Minnesota, just a week after the ICE shooting of Renee Good, a mother of three and U.S. citizen in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Star Tribune reports that the number of federal agents now in Minneapolis and Saint Paul outstrips the 10 largest Twin Cities metro police departments combined. „We don‘t want ICE in our neighborhoods. They are violent, they are creating chaos and terrorizing our immigrant neighbors, and they are not keeping anyone safe,“ says vice president of the Saint Paul City Council, Hwa Jeong Kim, who comments on the city‘s new lawsuit against the Trump administration, the loss of temporary protected status for thousands of Somali immigrants in the United States, plans for a general strike in Minneapolis and more.

ISRAELI JUDGE HANDLING NETANYAHU-LINKED CASE KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

(Januar 6, 2026)

Judge Benny Sagi, president of Israel‘s Beersheba District Court, was killed Sunday when a vehicle struck his motorcycle on Route 6.

Police say a vehicle driving off-road entered the highway and collided with Sagi‘s bike near Kfar Menachem kibbutz.

Paramedics found him with no pulse, multiple injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sagi was handling aspects of Case 3000, the „Submarines Affair“ involving corruption in Israeli naval deals.

Netanyahu has been questioned in this case but not charged.

Sagi was NOT presiding over Netanyahu‘s main corruption trial (Cases 1000, 2000, 4000).

That case is being heard by a three-judge panel in Jerusalem District Court.

Netanyahu‘s testimony in his primary trial was shortened Monday to allow attendance at Sagi‘s funeral.

Israeli authorities and major news organizations have categorized this as a traffic accident.

An investigation has been launched.

Some regional outlets and social media have called the death „suspicious“ given Sagi‘s role in sensitive cases, but no evidence of foul play has been reported.

Analyse: Geheimdienstlicher Komplex will das stadtweite „Überwachungs“-System in Berlin wieder aktivieren lassen

(Dezember 30, 2016)
