Ranking Democrat on Senate Armed Services Committee says „I don‘t think the president has a plan“ on Iran

Sen. Jack Reed, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Sunday that he believes the U.S. is “ in many respects, a much worse position“ in Iran and he doesn‘t believe Mr. Trump has a plan.

„We‘re in, in many respects, a much worse position,“ Reed told ABC News‘ „This Week.“ „The regime in Tehran is probably more hostile and fanatical than the one that we replaced … We have not yet resolved the issue of nuclear material in Iran. So this has been a tactical demonstration of prowess, but has not achieved the strategic goal that the president announced, and he seems not to have a plan to achieve those goals.“

Exclusive: Democrats Explore Suing Trump If He Ignores Congress on Iran War

(April 28, 2026)

The emerging discussions mark the clearest sign yet that Democrats, repeatedly blocked in their attempts to restrain the war through floor votes, are searching for new ways to force a constitutional reckoning over who decides when America goes to war.

While it’s unclear how Republicans will ultimately vote, Schiff urged caution about relying on the courts. “The Supreme Court has been very selective about offering Congress standing to any litigation,” he says. “It‘s not a strategy I would want to rely on…

It’s been 60 days since Trump started this war against Iran. But this war should‘ve never should’ve happened, and it needs to end. Now. Under the War Powers Act, this administration is now required withdraw our troops or make their case and seek Congressional authorization.

There’s no pause button in the Constitution, or the War Powers Act. We’re at war. We’ve been at war for 60 days. The blockade alone is a continuing act of war. Failing to seek congressional approval, Trump is breaking the law & betraying Americans.

Truly Evil Trump Must Be Stopped—Now!

It is our responsibility as citizens of this nation to say unambiguously that what Trump is now threatening is truly evil. It’s our responsibility as human beings to demand that Trump repudiate this threat to other human beings. It is our responsibility to call on all other Americans, in whatever capacity, to stand up against this despotic act of pure immorality.

Write. Phone. Shout. March. Trump has moved beyond indecency into the realm of insanity. This must be stopped.

An eclectic, bipartisan group suddenly calls for removing Trump using the 25th Amendment

None of it means the 25th Amendment is around the corner. The option is difficult to invoke, requiring those closest to Trump to determine he is unfit for office and opt to remove him against his will. Vance happened to be in Hungary on Tuesday, and he called Trump on the phone so the president could address a political rally.

But it’s significant even as a brushback pitch from some erstwhile Trump allies and from Democrats. They seem to be saying that Trump had better think carefully about his next actions in the war.

It’s also worth reflecting on where things stand now.

‚His mental faculties are collapsing‘, ‚deeply flawed man‘ and more: American lawmakers shocked at Trump‘s extreme remarks

Calls to invoke the 25th Amendment have strengthened in political circles after Donald Trump spewed a bunch of shocking words against Iran after his „Open the F–kin’ Strait, you crazy bastards“ remark. On Tuesday, Trump said a „whole civilization will die“ if Iran does not reach a deal soon. His remark shocked lawmakers in the country who are now calling to remove Trump as president using constitutional methods.

Democrats call for Trump’s removal over threat against Iran

“Donald Trump is openly threatening war crimes against the entirety of Iranian civilization. 25th Amendment proceedings must begin immediately, but if the Cabinet is too cowardly, the House should begin the impeachment process now,” Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) posted on social platform X, referencing Trump’s Tuesday morning post.

Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) called on the House to begin impeachment proceedings over the post, calling it “completely unstable and perilous.”

“The House must bring up impeachment articles, and the Senate needs to remove a president who wants to commit war crimes. We cannot sit idly by as Donald Trump threatens to end an entire civilization,” Markey said in a post online.

Exclusive – Fetterman gets another potential Democratic challenger

(March 24, 2026)

Former Rep. Susan Wild is the latest Pennsylvania Democrat to consider challenging Sen. John Fetterman in 2028, according to a person familiar with her thinking who told Semafor she’s getting encouraged to run.

It’s the latest sign of Pennsylvania Democrats’ keen interest in ousting Fetterman, who’s increasingly isolated in his party, even within his state delegation. House members from the same state are generally loath to criticize their colleagues, especially in a battleground like Pennsylvania, but frustrations with Fetterman are boiling over a full two years before a possible Senate primary.

The Maxwell Family Business: Espionage

(July 15, 2020)

Though Israeli intelligence found obvious use for the steady stream of sensitive and classified information, their biggest prize was yet to come – top secret government laboratories in the United States. Eitan tasked Maxwell with selling PROMIS to US labs in the Los Alamos complex, including Sandia National Laboratory, which was and is at the core of the US nuclear weapons system. Notably, the eventual sale of PROMIS to these laboratories by Maxwell occurred during the same period in 1984 when Eitan tasked one of Israel’s top experts in nuclear targeting with supervising Jonathan Pollard’s espionage of U.S. nuclear secrets on Israel’s behalf.

In order to plot how he would accomplish such a feat, Maxwell would meet with none other than Henry Kissinger, who told him that – in order to sell PROMIS to these sensitive laboratories – he needed to enlist the services of then-Senator for Texas John Tower, who was the head of the Senates’ Armed Services Committee at the time.
(…)
Not long after his failure to secure the nomination as Pentagon chief, Tower died in a suspicious plane crash soon after the equally suspicious death of Robert Maxwell.
(…)
In early August 1984, FBI headquarters and other higher-ups in the Ed Meese-led Department of Justice, which itself was complicit in the whole sordid PROMIS affair, ordered the New Mexico office to halt its investigation into Information on Demand, Maxwell and PROMIS. The cover-up, oddly enough, continues today, with the FBI still refusing to release documents pertaining to Robert Maxwell and his role in the PROMIS scandal.

‘It hurts my heart’: Sen. Murkowski travels to Greenland after threats by Pres. Trump to acquire territory

While she may have been the only Republican there, Murkowski said there are many others who quietly disagree with the president.

“I will also speak to the fact that there are some members of my party who don’t want to be seen as engaging in anything that might be viewed as contrary to President Trump’s initiative or desire, and so who may not be speaking out publicly,” she said.

She also said conversations with her fellow Republicans show that “occupying, owning, controlling, taking over Greenland,” is the “red line.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is facing bipartisan calls to resign after he appeared in a recent batch of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) accused Lutnick in a statement Monday of having “lied” about the extent of his connection to Epstein. Lutnick has sought to downplay their relationship, saying in a podcast appearance last year he vowed in 2005 to never again be in the same room as Epstein.

‘This Occupation Has to End!’ Omar Argues After Homan Says Most Agents Will Stay in Minnesota

President Donald Trump’s “border czar,” Tom Homan, announced Wednesday that 700 immigration agents are leaving Minnesota, but with around 2,000 expected to remain there, Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, whose district includes Minneapolis, declared that the drawdown is “not enough.”

As part of Trump’s “Operation Metro Surge,” agents with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have invaded multiple Minnesota cities, including Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and committed various acts of violence, such as fatally shooting Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Mike Johnson told not to count on Dems‘ votes to end shutdown

Democrats are hesitant to vote for the package because it contains a two-week stopgap funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security that lacks reform measures for ICE or Customs and Border Protection.

Senate Democrats were split almost evenly on the measure in a Friday night vote, with the 23 Democrats who voted for it facing swift backlash from progressive groups who accused them of essentially voting to fund ICE.

The Senate would pass those bills before a Friday midnight deadline, and Congress also would consider a short-term extension for homeland security operations, which would prevent an interruption of services by the Transportation Security Agency, Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

That stopgap bill would provide time for talks between lawmakers and the White House to draft a new homeland security spending bill that would include new restrictions that Democrats have demanded on the tactics of immigration enforcement officers and more accountability for those accused of using excessive force.

Trump administration considers new guidelines for immigration officials in Minnesota

The Trump administration circulated a draft memo this week regarding potential new guidelines for federal immigration officers on the ground in Minnesota, including plans to avoid engaging with “agitators” and only targeting immigrants facing criminal charges or convictions, officials familiar with the talks told CNN.

The draft memo comes as the White House and Department of Homeland Security have had multiple behind-the-scenes discussions this week about how to best conduct immigration operations in the state moving forward.
