The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are eyeing a 2028 presidential bid in the wake of recent electoral successes across the country.
DSA Co-chair Ashik Siddique told The Hill in a Thursday interview that the organization has more than 100,000 members and 200 chapters across the country. “We want people to be talking proactively about what they would want to see in a presidential campaign,” he said. The organization is looking to see how voters would engage and what would motivate them, he added.

Und: Sie – ausnahmslos Angriffs- & Profitkriege – werden von der als „Verteidigungsbündnis“ vermarkteten NATO „antizipiert“, orchestriert & exekutiert und ziehen die weitere Vermögenskonzentration in den Händen Weniger nach sich, womit sie – ausnahmslos, aber nicht ausschließlich – der Profitmehrung professioneller Kriegsprofiteure dienen.
Immer dasselbe – in zeitlichen Schleifen, auratischen Wellen, historischen Episoden. Dasselbe eine Muster, wieder und wieder: dieselben knarzenden Argumentationsschemata & Narrationsabsolutismen. Dieselben Behauptungen, Tatsachenverdrehungen, Selbstvergewisserungen.
Dazu der immer selbe Raub an der Gesellschaft und den Menschen, die sie tragen. Dieselbe soziale Verarmung, dieselbe geistige Leere und dieselbe ethische Verelendung. Und immer dasselbe Elitenbereicherungs-, „Sicherheits“-, „Feindes“- & Tötungsmuster. Wieder und wieder und wieder.
Wir, die wir alt genug sind, uns (mit Assange) an die letzte Welle westlicher Wertekriege zu erinnern, können den erinnerungslosen Jüngeren heute nur eines sagen, nämlich: dass sie sich einmal erinnern werden. Wenn sie, nachdem (in 15 Jahren) die nächste Welle westlicher Wertekriege losgebrochen sein wird, ihrerseits auf erinnerungslose Junge treffen.
Assange hatte schon damals und hat noch heute recht. Wir müssen eigene Netzwerke und Bündnisse schließen, um unsere Werte gegen den eigennützigen Zynismus der Kriegstreiber zu behaupten. In diesem Land und anderen Ländern.
Heute vor 2 Jahren war Julian Assange nach 14jähriger politischer Verfolgung & Haft endlich wieder frei.

Speaking on Sunday, Trump told the newspaper that his “preference would be to take the oil,” as he weighs whether to seize Iran’s key fuel export hub at Kharg Island. He likened the potential move to the US ambitions to control Venezuela’s oil industry following the capture of its leader Nicolás Maduro in January.

After the U.S. military abducted Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro on Saturday, Wall Street watchers were quick to declare the biggest winner: Paul Singer, the $6.7 billion (net worth) hedge fund manager famous for investing in distressed assets around the world. Amber Energy, a Houston-based startup backed by Elliott, recently prevailed in a U.S. federal court auction to buy Venezuelan oil company Citgo, which owns three refineries in Louisiana, Texas and Illinois, plus a distribution network of 4,000 Citgo gas stations, for $5.9 billion – what many deem to be a steal.
This outrageous attack by a UN member State against a UN General Assembly-mandated organisation is unprecedented, dangerous, and should spur the international community into action, especially in view of the Provisional measures of the ICJ in the case brought by South Africa and the recent ICJ opinion, confirming that Israel has no right to interfere with UNRWA’s work.
This attack constitutes a grave violation of the privileges and immunities of the United Nations, and an apparent international crime which adds to the long list that Israel continues to commit in the Palestinian territory it illegally occupies.
These actions are part of Israel‘s genocidal strategy that will not pause of its own volition; it must be stopped through tangible actions from States that must ensure accountability and cut ties with Israel.
I call on the Secretary General to request that the General Assembly convene a special session and consider next steps following these unprecedented attacks on UNRWA and the wider UN.
It is time for the General Assembly to suspend Israel’s credentials, pursuant to Article 6 of the UN Charter, and authorise sanctions and embargoes against Israel, especially on the arms trade.”

Israel demolished structures inside the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency‘s East Jerusalem compound on Tuesday after seizing the site last year, in an act condemned by the agency as a violation of international law.

The US Treasury Department on Wednesday imposed sanctions on four companies and their associated oil tankers for allegedly transporting Venezuelan oil as the Trump administration seeks to escalate its pressure on the country.
The new sanctions come after the US seized two tankers off the coast of Venezuela that were carrying Venezuelan oil, cargo that President Trump has said the US intends to keep, an action that amounts to outright theft.

President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela and his predecessor, Hugo Chávez, have for decades sent oil to Cuba at highly subsidized prices, providing a crucial resource at low cost to the impoverished island.
In return, the Cuban government over the years has sent tens of thousands of medics, sports instructors and, increasingly, security professionals on assignments to Venezuela. That exchange has assumed special importance as Mr. Maduro has leaned on Cuban bodyguards and counterintelligence officers to protect himself against the U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean
Israel is party to the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the UN. The Convention makes UN premises inviolable – in other words, immune from search and/or seizure – and makes UN property and assets immune from legal process.
The International Court of Justice has also underscored that Israel is obliged to cooperate with UNRWA and other UN agencies.
There can be no exceptions. To allow this represents a new challenge to international law, one that creates a dangerous precedent anywhere else the UN is present across the world.
Israeli authorities entered the U.N. Palestinian refugee agency‘s East Jerusalem offices on Monday and raised Israel‘s flag, in a raid they said was ordered over unpaid taxes but was condemned by the agency as a challenge to international law.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which has been accused of bias by Israel, has not used the building since the start of this year after Israel ordered it to vacate all its premises and cease its operations.
