Throughout the weekend, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his radical-left party, La France Insoumise, criticized the French government‘s crisis management of the protests on Saturday, October 17, and the violence surrounding them. As peaceful demonstrations where LFI supporters again turned out in strength overlapped with violence and looting, LFI continued its strategy of direct confrontation with the authorities, even at the risk of deepening its rift with the rest of the political class and some voters who hold them responsible for the unrest.

Je n’imagine pas cette campagne présidentielle comme le simple énoncé d’un programme, mais surtout comme un choix des principes de vie en société. Cette méthode nous a déjà permis d’acquérir une capacité de rassemblement qui surprend les commentateurs. Dans les analyses fournies à propos de notre succès, on parle de qui nous sommes, comment nous agissons, comment nous faisons campagne, nos capacités techniques à faire campagne… Beaucoup voient bien que nous sommes toute une équipe, au contraire de tous nos concurrents. Mais ce n’est pas ça la leçon essentielle de nos succès. Elle est ailleurs, dans la réponse à la question : dans quel état d’esprit est le peuple français. Que se passe-t-il dans la société dont nous sommes l’écho ? Aussi bien quand des jeunes acclament les députés Insoumis qui viennent les voir dans leur faculté ou leur lycée, ce qui est sans précédent.

Iceland’s government has confirmed that it will not continue accession negotiations with the European Union following Saturday’s referendum.
Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir said the result would be respected and that the issue would not move forward during the current government’s term.

The Empire Is Losing Its Ability To Hide Its Ugly Nature

It’s just having a harder and harder time masking its true nature, because of the very evils it has tried to conceal.
Everything’s becoming more and more revealed. More and more transparent. What was once done solely by whistleblowers, investigative journalists, activists and dissident media is now being done by the empire itself, because there’s only so long you can hide the truth about something so malignant. An empire that is held together by lies, corruption and endless slaughter was never going to remain unseen. The brutality necessary to dominate the planet had to come out into the light eventually.
“May all be revealed” has been my prayer for our world for many years now. That dearly held wish is now being answered, and the truth is looking every bit as ugly as expected.
May all be revealed. May all that is hidden become seen. In the empire. In our governments. In our culture. In our community. In our interpersonal relationships. In ourselves.
Many of us, liberal Europeans, spent decades pushing back against the European extreme left‘s cartoon version of America ( it‘s all oil/ imperialism/getting rich at the expense of others) and then one dumb administration walks in and performs the caricature to perfection.

In einem Gutachten des Wissenschaftlichen Dienstes des Bundestages zur Austrittsfrage heißt es im letzten Satz verräterisch offen:
„Sowohl der Aufenthaltsvertrag als auch das NATO-Truppenstatut können aufgekündigt werden. Nach Nr. 3 der Vereinbarung vom 25. September 1990 zu dem Vertrag über den Aufenthalt ausländischer Streitkräfte in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland kann die Bundesrepublik Deutschland den Aufenthaltsvertrag in Bezug auf eine oder mehrere Vertragsparteien unter Einhaltung einer Frist von zwei Jahren beenden. Nach Art. XIX Abs. 1 und 3 NATO-Truppenstatut kann jede Vertragspartei das Abkommen mit einer Frist von einem Jahr nach Eingang der Notifizierung bei der Regierung der USA kündigen. Obwohl die Möglichkeit einer Kündigung rechtlich besteht, dürfte sie politisch nicht gangbar sein.“
Spanien hat gezeigt, dass man den USA die Nutzung ihrer Basen für völkerrechtswidrige Kriege verwehren kann. Es ist höchste Zeit, dass auch wir in Deutschland eine Bewegung zur Schließung dieser Kriegsenklaven der USA und zum Austritt aus einem Militärpakt, der allein helfen soll, die US-Hegemonie auf unsere Kosten abzusichern, verstärken.

France is committed to the sovereignty and independence of nations, in Europe and elsewhere. This guides our choices. It underpins our commitment to the United Nations and to its Charter.
It is on this basis that we support, and will continue to support Ukraine and that we have built a coalition of the willing for a robust and lasting peace, to defend these principles and our security.
It is also on this basis that we decided to take part in the exercise organized by Denmark in Greenland. We fully assume this decision, because security in the Arctic and at the outer edges of our Europe is at stake.
No intimidation or threat will influence us—neither in Ukraine, nor in Greenland, nor anywhere else in the world when we are confronted with such situations.
Tariff threats are unacceptable and have no place in this context. Europeans will respond in a united and coordinated manner should they be confirmed. We will ensure that European sovereignty is upheld.
It is in this spirit that I will engage with our European partners.

– bestimmt nicht demilitarisiert, sondern bis an die Zähne bewaffnet, allerdings ohne Atomzähne jedweder Art, weder Entwicklung noch Stationierung
– nach Wahl der ukrainischen Regierungen bzw Parlamentsmehrheiten jeweils Handelspakte und Waffenlieferungen mit bzw durch E.U. und N.A.T.O., ähnlich wie mit der Schweiz oder Schweden.

Was eine (weitere) verantwortliche, eine rationale, eine solidarische Maßnahme aus dem Weißen Haus wäre, ähnlich wie die Zurückhaltung was die Provokationen aus dem Kreml angeht: von sich aus auf eine N.A.T.O.-Mitgliedschaft der Ukraine zu verzichten. Neben der Lieferung von Defensivwaffen gäbe es nichts Besseres, was „der Westen“ derzeit für die Ukraine tun kann. Man könnte vielleicht auch verkünden, man habe sich in den letzten 30 Jahren mit der N.A.T.O. genug gedehnt. Und zwanzig Jahre lang genug ruhmreichen Terrorkrieg geführt. Ein paar Millionen Tote würden nun reichen.
