‘Dialogue does not mean surrender’: Iran’s president
Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran “enters into dialogue with dignity, authority, and the preservation of the nation’s rights”.
“And under no circumstances will it retreat from the legal rights of the people and the country,” the Iranian president wrote on X.

The US president says he was asked by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan “to hold off on our planned Military attack” on Iran, “which was scheduled for tomorrow”.
Trump said the Gulf leaders had noted “that serious negotiations are now taking place, and that, in their opinion, as Great Leaders and Allies, a Deal will be made, which will be very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond”.
“This Deal will include, importantly, NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN!” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

As the Israel lobby attempts to end his political career, the Republican Rep. Thomas Massie has introduced a bill that would require lobbyists working for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, commonly known as AIPAC, to register as foreign agents.
The bill, known as the Americans Insist on Political Agent Clarity (AIPAC) Act, would amend the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938 (FARA), which requires those working to influence government policy on behalf of a foreign power to register with the US Department of Justice (DOJ).

Human Rights Watch calls on Lebanon to join International Criminal Court after Israeli forces kill journalist
Human Rights Watch has called on the government of Lebanon to “accede to the International Criminal Court’s Rome Statute” and submit a declaration allowing the Court to “investigate and prosecute crimes committed in Lebanon since October 2023,” according to the organisation’s post on X.

Trump says he will extend ceasefire with Iran until negotiations conclude
President Donald Trump says he will extend a ceasefire with Iran until Iran submits a proposal to end the conflict permanently.
“Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He said he had directed the American military to “continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able.”
He said the truce, which had been due to expire in the coming hours, would “therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other.”

Al-Moussawi’s statement that this ceasefire is based on the original Iranian deal reached with the U.S. contradicts claims by Trump and Netanyahu that Lebanon would not be included, and by the U.S. State Department that the Lebanon ceasefire be a wholly separate deal.
„They went back to the same ceasefire agreement that has been reached to in Islamabad by the Iranian initiative,” Al-Moussawi told Drop Site. „We will be respecting the ceasefire and we will deal with it cautiously, actually. And the Israelis have to abide by it completely, comprehensively in all of the Lebanese territories, including the areas bordering Palestine. And it should include total cessation of the hostilities and restraint to the movement of the Israelis to stop their assassinations. And it should hopefully be a beginning of a course of the Israeli withdrawal from our occupied territories.“

Regardless of what angry partisan commentators may say, I retain the trust of the coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans that has repeatedly defied the trends of political polarization by electing me.
I don’t fear losing. What has become apparent to me is that I now dread the prospect of winning. Simply put, what I could accomplish in this increasingly unproductive Congress pales in comparison to what I could do in that time as a husband, a father and a son.
Iran reopens Strait of Hormuz to commercial traffic following Lebanon ceasefire
The reopening of the vital waterway was confirmed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who emphasized that maritime operations would safely resume under Iranian oversight.
„In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran,“ Araghchi stated.
The Strait had been effectively blocked to vessels affiliated with adversaries and those cooperating with them, a strategic maneuver by Tehran aimed at maintaining security in the waterway during unrelenting US-Israeli aggression that began on February 28.
Iran reopens Strait of Hormuz following Lebanon ceasefire agreement
Iran has announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz after the ceasefire in Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on social media that in light of the Lebanon ceasefire, all commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will be fully allowed for the remaining duration of the truce.
Pakistani army chief meets Iranian parliament speaker in Tehran
Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran on Thursday morning.
Field Marshal Munir, who arrived in the Iranian capital on Wednesday, is heading a high-level political-security delegation that includes representatives from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, security institutions, and technical experts.
The primary purpose of the delegation’s visit is to relay the US message and to plan the framework for a possible second round of negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
Lebanon‘s Aoun rejects call with Netanyahu as Israel severs last bridge to the south
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun will not speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the near future, a senior Lebanese official told Middle East Eye, after reports of a planned phone call between the two leaders.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Beirut had informed Washington of Aoun’s position ahead of a call between the president and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday.
The development comes two days after the US hosted the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon in Washington, in the first such talks between the two countries since 1993.

Starmer says UK will not join Trump‘s blockade of Iran‘s ports
The US announced its blockade after talks with Iran failed to secure a lasting peace deal to end hostilities in the Middle East.
Following a meeting between US and Iran negotiators in Pakistan‘s capital Islamabad, President Donald Trump said the US would start „BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz“.
The US Central Command (Centcom) later confirmed its forces would enforce the blockade „impartially“ on vessels leaving and entering Iranian ports, including those located in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.
Diplomacy channel open between US and Iran despite outstanding differences
“No one expected a big deal in Pakistan after 40 days of war,” he said. “Nevertheless, it was high-level direct negotiations, and they can continue to resolve the two remaining issues.”
Mousavian said what remained to be settled was freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear enrichment.
“I believe there is a solution for both,” he said.
Iran says Hormuz open to civilian vessels, warns military ships
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says the Strait of Hormuz remains open to civilian traffic, while warning military vessels against entering the strategic waterway.
In a statement, the IRGC said the strait is “open to the harmless passage of civilian vessels” in compliance with international law.
It warned that any military ships approaching the area would violate the ceasefire and “will be dealt with severely”.
Lebanon seeks Pakistan’s support to stop Israeli attacks
The Prime Minister contacted his Lebanese counterpart by telephone and strongly condemned Israel’s aggression.
According to a spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam spoke over the phone.
There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!
