The United Nations special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories has accused British Foreign Secretary David Lammy of being a „genocide denier“ and said the UK has done „nothing“ to prevent atrocities in Gaza.
In an interview with Middle East Eye in London on Wednesday, Francesca Albanese took aim at Lammy in response to comments he made in late October denying that Israel is committing genocide.
„I hadn‘t realised that Mr Lammy was a lawyer,“ she said, referring to Lammy‘s legal background.
„As a politician, you might say that for political convenience,“ she suggested, adding that would still make someone „a genocide denier“.
Lammy recently alleged that the term genocide referred to “when millions of people lost their lives in crises like Rwanda, the Second World War in the Holocaust” and that using it to describe Gaza “now undermines (its) seriousness”.

“Will the Prime Minister share (Lammy’s) definition of genocide with this House?” the lawmaker asked Starmer.
The prime minister answered by saying that “it would be wise to start a question like that by reference to what happened in October of last year”.

The Public Health Ministry‘s Emergency Operations Center issued a new update on the outcome of the Israeli raid on the southern suburb of Beirut yesterday, in which the number of martyrs rose to thirty-seven people.
The Ministry indicated that efforts are still underway to remove the rubbles.

In this essay, I describe and discuss the United States’ view—shared by Germany and others—that arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant would be premature because the Prosecutor did not provide Israel with sufficient notice of the alleged crimes. In my second essay, I’ll discuss the United States’ more fundamental objection that the ICC lacks jurisdiction over Israeli nationals for conduct involving Gaza because (according to the United States) Palestine is not a state that itself would have prescriptive or enforcement jurisdiction over such persons as a matter of international law (an objection that does not depend upon the Oslo Accords).
The United States tends to hail the ICC when it prosecutes American enemies, but assails the court when it goes after U.S. allies.
The Public Health Ministry’s Emergency Operations Center released a statement announcing an updated toll from the Israeli enemy’s airstrike on the Beirut’s southern suburbs.
According to the new updated toll, the number of martyrs has risen to 12, and the number of wounded 66, including nine in critical condition.
The statement added that the rubble removal operations continue.
The Israeli military’s chief spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said the strike on Beirut’s southern Dahiya district killed Ibrahim Akil, a commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, as well as 10 other Hezbollah operatives.
“We will continue pursuing our enemies in order to defend our citizens, even in Dahiya, in Beirut,” said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, describing the Israeli strike that targeted Akil as part of “a new phase of war.”

April war auch der israelische Angriff gegen das iranische Botschaftsgelände in Damaskus, bei dem mindestens 13 Personen starben, darunter mehrere Diplomaten sowie der Brigadegeneral Mohammad Reza Zahedi und dessen Stellvertreter, ein Thema. Die Bundesregierung vertrat in der BPK die Linie, dass man nicht wisse, wer für die Tat verantwortlich sei, daher könnte man auch keine Wertung vornehmen. Dies, obwohl bereits einen Tag zuvor das US-Verteidigungsministerium offiziell eingeräumt hatte, dass es sich bei dem Militärschlag um eine israelische Operation gehandelt habe. Wohl einer der seltenen Fälle, in denen die Bundesregierung nicht der Einschätzung der USA folgt.

Asked by the Barents Observer, the Joint Headquarters near Bodø, however, confirms that the planes were inside Norwegian airspace before flying out over international airspace in the Barents Sea.
“The activity included both Norwegian and international airspace,” says spokesperson Reidar Flasnes.
“We cannot detail the activity,” Flasnes says and points to the United States as in charge of Sunday’s flights. He adds that the flights are “approved by Norway’s Ministry of Defense.”

Heute, zwanzig Jahre später, ist der Nato-Bündnisfall immer noch in Kraft. Zumindest wurde er nicht aufgehoben. „Die Ausrufung des Bündnisfalls ist ein Ausdruck der Solidarität“, erklärte das Verteidigungsministerium auf Anfrage. „Eine formale Beendigung erfolgt entsprechend nicht.“
