Maryam Younnes was only five years old when she fled her home in Dibil in southern Lebanon, leaving behind her grandmother and cousins, unable to legally see or speak to them again.
Maryamâs father, Elias, was a commander in the South Lebanon Army (SLA). He defended the countryâs sovereignty against the Palestinian Liberation Organization, which used the territory to launch attacks against Israel and brutalize local populations.
âWe were in no manâs land. No one helped us. No one looked after us, just like whatâs going on right now.
Garicanoâs entire worldview depends on his ability to avoid recognizing the obvious truth: that the so-called âextreme leftâ has always been correct, and that the empire he worships has always been evil. Itâs just having a harder and harder time masking its true nature, because of the very evils it has tried to conceal.
Everythingâs becoming more and more revealed. More and more transparent. What was once done solely by whistleblowers, investigative journalists, activists and dissident media is now being done by the empire itself, because thereâs only so long you can hide the truth about something so malignant. An empire that is held together by lies, corruption and endless slaughter was never going to remain unseen. The brutality necessary to dominate the planet had to come out into the light eventually.
âMay all be revealedâ has been my prayer for our world for many years now. That dearly held wish is now being answered, and the truth is looking every bit as ugly as expected.
May all be revealed. May all that is hidden become seen. In the empire. In our governments. In our culture. In our community. In our interpersonal relationships. In ourselves.

Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Larry Summers will resign from teaching at Harvard University amid a campus review of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the university announced Wednesday.
Summers, who has been on leave since November and whose name appeared hundreds of times in newly released Epstein files, will leave at the end of the school year, according to a statement from Harvard spokesperson Jason Newton.

In 2005, Wall Street believed housing could never fail. Ratings agencies laughed off the idea of defaults, banks printed money, and experts said the system was safe. One man disagreed. John Paulson bet against the housing market â and when it collapsed, he made over $20 billion while millions lost their homes

Israel‘s President Isaac Herzog awarded the 2025 Presidential Medal of Honor on Wednesday to German media mogul Matthias Döpfner, known for promoting a pro-Israel line in his outlets, and to Israeli-U.S. megadonor Miriam Adelson, for their „unique contribution“ to Israel.
Döpfner, CEO of German media giant Axel Springer, the publisher of daily tabloid Bild and a close associate of Netanyahu, has been linked to the so-called Bibileaks affair involving the alleged leak of a classified document from Netanyahu‘s office to Bild in an attempt to influence Israeli public opinion concerning the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
Trump was met with loud applause as he took the stage for what many billed as the most closely watched speech of this yearâs Davos.
He opened by saying it was good to see so many friends and âsome enemies,â drawing laughter from the crowd. From there, he leaned heavily into self-assessment, describing himself as the most successful president and pointing to what he said were his major achievements accomplished in just one year….
Trump plans to serve as head of the board alongside other world leaders. The board will interact with a committee of Palestinian technocrats in Gaza through Mladenov.
Bahbah said that the âmain entitiesâ responsible for âmanagingâ Gazaâs reconstruction will be established within 30 days. He added that Palestinian factions are expected to meet in Cairo next week, where the names of an independent technocratic committee to manage Gazaâs affairs will be announced.
As he planned for his death, Jeffrey Epstein listed powerful friends and associates from Wall Street as the people who would take care of his affairs.
Versions of Epstein‘s will released Tuesday by the Justice Department featured former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, former Barclays CEO Jes Staley, and former Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne as potential executors of his estate.

âI never want to have any more uncomfortable money moments with you , I find it very distasteful,â Epstein wrote in a Nov. 2, 2015 email to the Apollo Global Management founder.
âso to be clear , my terms are as follows . I will only work for the usual 40 million per year. It needs to be paid, 25 million upon signing an agreement . 5 million every 2 months thereafter for 6 months ie march may june . this can begin if i am able in January. I will immediately stop work , if the payment is not received [sic]â he wrote, according to the outlet.
The emails sent to Black by Epstein in 2015 and 2016 illustrates the strong relationship between the two men, who were close friends as well as business associates.

In an emailed statement to CBS MoneyWatch in June of 2023, JPMorgan called Epstein‘s behavior „monstrous,“ and said it regretted any association with the disgraced financier.
Epstein also had financial dealings with Deutsche Bank, which in May 2023 agreed to pay $75 million to settle a lawsuit alleging the German bank „knowingly benefited“ from his sex trafficking and profited from doing business with him.
(…)
In October, Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland, pointed to $1.5 billion in suspicious financial transactions that had been flagged by the banks and were tied to Epstein‘s alleged sex trafficking crimes. The same month, Bank of America was sued by one of Epstein‘s victims, who alleged the bank facilitated and also benefited from his alleged crimes.
Stanley Pottinger, as it happens, was a notable figure in the scandal that became known as Iran-Contra, in which the CIA used Israel as a middleman to move off-the-books weapons to Iran. In the early 1980s, under the CIAâs supervision, Pottinger advised an Iranian banker on shipping embargoed arms to Iran using fraudulent paperwork and overseas âdummy companiesââin the very same period that Pottinger and Epstein worked together selling âtax-avoidanceâ strategies from a penthouse by Central Park. Pottingerâs system eventually gave rise to a network of covert intermediaries shipping arms around the world; the CIAâs profits became a slush fund used to illegally bankroll the insurgent Contra army, who waged a war against Nicaraguaâs leftist government while simultaneously trafficking cocaine to the United States.
(…)
Pottinger escaped prosecution after the FBIâs incriminating tapes of his conversations mysteriously disappeared; he went on to make a fortune on real estate deals in the 1980s, and became a New York Timesâ bestselling novelist. His Times obit from last year reports that his final spy thriller remains unpublished. Hashemi died in 1986 after being infected with âa rare and virulent form of leukemiaâ that was diagnosed only two days before he died. (His death was later alleged to be foul play.)
The Justice Department released tens of thousands of records Friday on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though many of the files are heavily redacted and the agency failed to meet a legal deadline to release all files related to its investigations.
The material comes after a yearlong bipartisan push for the government to release its files on the Epstein investigation.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement extending âits condolences to the families of the Syrian and American security personnel who were killed in the terrorist attacks that took place in Palmyra and northern Syria.â The statement reiterated Syriaâs âfirm commitment to fighting the Islamic State.â A US official told CNN that since the December 13 attack, US forces and partner forces have carried out 10 operations that resulted in the killing or arrest of approximately 23 individuals. On December 14, Syriaâs Ministry of Interior said that its units carried out an operation in Palmyra to arrest five suspects accused of involvement in the killing of US service members in âcoordination with the General Intelligence Directorate and the International Coalition forces.â

Barak felt enormous urgency to secure a face-to-face meeting with Putin as soon as possible, before the conflict escalated further. Besides Epstein, he also requested comments from Ron Dermer, close confidante to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was preparing to become Israelâs next ambassador to the U.S. Barak wrote to Dermer, âi donât care how youâve corrected it. yours will be always better in clarity and conciseness than mine. try earlier. i donât want events to overwhelm us.â Dermer swiftly returned a refined copy with more fluent English.
As was typical of Epsteinâs style, he sent back a rough cut riddled with spelling and grammatical errors. Unlike Dermerâs narrower cut, Epstein significantly revised Barakâs piece, and added a new title: âWait Until Itâs Too Late.â

As the House of Representatives moves closer to forcing the release of the Epstein files by the Department feel Justice, we turn now to look at a new series by Drop Site News looking at Epsteinâs ties to Israeli intelligence and how he secretly brokered numerous deals for Israeli intelligence.
On Tuesday, Drop Site revealed an Israeli spy stayed for weeks at a time with Epstein in Manhattan. Drop Site has also looked at Epsteinâs role brokering a security agreement between Israel and Mongolia and Epsteinâs role in setting up a backchannel between Israel and Russia on Syria.
Brazilâs President Luiz InĂĄcio Lula da Silva set the tone at the opening session, declaring that the battle for truth has become just as critical as the fight to cut emissions. COP30 must mark âa new defeat for climate denialists,â he said.
On Wednesday, 12 nations â including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and Spain â signed onto the first-ever Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change, pledging to fight back against the flood of false content and protect those on the frontlines of truth: environmental journalists, scientists and researchers.
The declaration, unveiled under the Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change, calls for concrete steps to dismantle networks of climate lies and shield evidence-based voices from harassment and attacks.
It was a scene in eastern China almost certainly intended for an audience on the other side of the world: The leaders of China, Russia and India, the three largest powers not aligned with the West, smiling and laughing like good friends as they greeted each other at a summit on Monday.
Driving the news: Hegseth will arrive in Israel on May 12 and meet with his counterpart Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
– Hegseth will then travel to Saudi Arabia to join Trump‘s trip to the Gulf.
– Trump will also visit Qatar and the UAE but is not currently expected to visit Israel.
The Gaza war and its aftermath in Lebanon and Syria seem to have strengthened the hands of Israel and Turkey, while weakening those of Iran and its allies. At the same time, the return of Trump appears to have brought the US even closer to Israel, and upped its opposition to Iran.
But how much this is truly a departure from the past should not be overstated. Most powers, such as in the Gulf and Egypt, have had to adapt to the new circumstances, but their policy positions have not drastically altered.

srael Hayom has learned that IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi participated in a Chiefs of Staff conference in Britain over the past two days. This is considered an unusual step, amid the ongoing war in Gaza and Lebanon.
Halevi departed two days ago and returned last night (Monday-Tuesday). During his two-day visit, against the backdrop of de-escalation efforts in northern Israel, Halevi met with Chiefs of Staff from various countries and provided an overview of the situation in the Middle East.

President Biden has been deeply involved in the U.S. response to the Israel-Hamas war â one of the thorniest challenges of his presidency so far â receiving briefings at least once per day and speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu several times a week.
The big picture: Biden is leaning on a tight circle of trusted aides and officials. Here‘s a look at who‘s in the room when major decisions are being made.
