Former Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to a give closed-door testimony later today over her handling of the Federal government’s investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his former girlfriend and co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. Democratic Congressman James Walkinshaw of Virginia, a member of the House Oversight Committee, joins Way Too early to discuss what he plans on asking Bondi and more.

Inside Jeffrey Epstein’s inner circle — the aides, lawyers and confidantes who ran his world
Together, the names of those in Epstein’s inner circle appear thousands of times across the newly released files. Though they haven’t had the same level of scrutiny that more famous people who appear in the files have received, that may start to change. Over the coming months, several of them are scheduled to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee.
Richard Kahn, Epstein’s longtime accountant, and Darren Indyke, his personal attorney, both of whom are co-executors of Epstein’s estate, are slated to testify on March 11 and March 19. Lesley Groff, Epstein’s executive assistant, was asked by the committee to appear on June 9.
Jeffrey Epstein Recruited NSA Codebreakers for Genome “Manhattan Project”
(February 10, 2026)
For the next decade, Epstein continued to recruit engineers from U.S. national security entities, including DARPA, to his genome hacking project. He asked Kathryn Ruemmler, the White House attorney who had handled the legal fallout from the Edward Snowden leaks, to help him source cryptographers from the National Security Agency. “Can you find a guy from nsa that can think about signal intelligence applied to DNA,” Epstein wrote . “I want to intercept communication between living cells in organisms.”
In late 2012, he had sent the same request to Boris Nikolic, Bill Gates’ top aide: “do you have any contacts at nsa so that we can use de encypriton (sic) in biological systems?” “Yes,” Nikolic replied, “There are no many places where I do not have someone ;)”
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Relationship With Jeffrey Epstein Spanned Decades
Here’s a look at the history of their relationship.
1999: According to Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, he first met Mr. Epstein through Ghislaine Maxwell, then the disgraced financier’s girlfriend and a well-connected Briton and daughter of the media tycoon Robert Maxwell.
2000: Ms. Maxwell and Mr. Epstein attended a party at Windsor Castle hosted by Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate the 40th birthday of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, then Prince Andrew. That was one of a number of documented meetings between Mr. Epstein and Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, who served as a British trade envoy from 2001 to 2011.

The Maxwell Family Business: Espionage
(July 15, 2020)
Though Israeli intelligence found obvious use for the steady stream of sensitive and classified information, their biggest prize was yet to come – top secret government laboratories in the United States. Eitan tasked Maxwell with selling PROMIS to US labs in the Los Alamos complex, including Sandia National Laboratory, which was and is at the core of the US nuclear weapons system. Notably, the eventual sale of PROMIS to these laboratories by Maxwell occurred during the same period in 1984 when Eitan tasked one of Israel’s top experts in nuclear targeting with supervising Jonathan Pollard’s espionage of U.S. nuclear secrets on Israel’s behalf.
In order to plot how he would accomplish such a feat, Maxwell would meet with none other than Henry Kissinger, who told him that – in order to sell PROMIS to these sensitive laboratories – he needed to enlist the services of then-Senator for Texas John Tower, who was the head of the Senates’ Armed Services Committee at the time.
(…)
Not long after his failure to secure the nomination as Pentagon chief, Tower died in a suspicious plane crash soon after the equally suspicious death of Robert Maxwell.
(…)
In early August 1984, FBI headquarters and other higher-ups in the Ed Meese-led Department of Justice, which itself was complicit in the whole sordid PROMIS affair, ordered the New Mexico office to halt its investigation into Information on Demand, Maxwell and PROMIS. The cover-up, oddly enough, continues today, with the FBI still refusing to release documents pertaining to Robert Maxwell and his role in the PROMIS scandal.
Mega Group, Maxwells and Mossad: The Spy Story at the Heart of the Jeffrey Epstein Scandal
(August 7, 2019)
Almost one year to the day after the “Mega” spy scandal broke, the Wall Street Journal was the first outlet to report on the existence of a little-known organization of billionaires that was “informally” called the Mega Group and had been founded years prior in 1991. The report made no mention of the spy scandal that had spread concerns of Israeli espionage in the U.S. only a year prior. However, the group’s distinctive “informal” name and the connections of its members to the Mossad and to high-ranking Israeli politicians, including prime ministers, raise the possibility that “Mega” was not an individual, as the FBI and NSA had believed, but a group.
In 1997, when the “Mega” spy scandal broke, Netanyahu had recently become prime minister of Israel after an upset victory, a victory that was largely credited to one well-connected Netanyahu backer in particular, Ronald Lauder.

Some have taken Maxwell’s funeral held in Israel as the country’s “official” confirmation of Maxwell’s service to the Mossad, as it was likened to a state funeral and attended by no less than six serving and former heads of Israeli intelligence. During his funeral service in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir eulogized him and stated: “He has done more for Israel than can today be said.”
The Mogul and the Monster: Inside Jeffrey Epstein’s Decades-Long Relationship With His Biggest Client
(June 8, 2021)
During the 1990s, both Epstein’s and Wexner’s profiles grew on the world stage. In 1991, Wexner cofounded a philanthropic organization of Jewish billionaires known as the Mega Group, which uses some of its vast resources to shape Middle East policy. In 2003, Wexner’s foundation commissioned GOP messaging guru Frank Luntz to advise American Jewish leaders on how to rally support for Israel. “For a year—a SOLID YEAR—you should be invoking the name of Saddam Hussein and how Israel was always behind American efforts to rid the world of this ruthless dictator and liberate their people,” Luntz’s recommendation stated.
Epstein kept close in that circle of influence.
Trump administration live updates: Ghislaine Maxwell invokes 5th in Congress probe; lawmakers to view unredacted Epstein files
– GHISLAINE MAXWELL DEPOSITION: Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell invoked her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination at a House Oversight Committee deposition this morning, which she attended virtually, the committee‘s leaders said.
– UNREDACTED EPSTEIN FILES: Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., said in a post on X that he plans to view the unredacted versions of the Justice Department’s files on Epstein today. Starting this morning, members of Congress are being allowed to review the unredacted files, two sources familiar with the DOJ’s plans told NBC News last week.
Epstein‘s sex empire was ‚KGB honeytrap‘: Paedophile financier had multiple talks with Putin after conviction – with Russian girls flown in to harvest ‚kompromat‘ on world-famous figures
Security sources say Robert Maxwell was a Russian asset from the 1970s, when he worked to extradite Soviet Jews to Israel, with the involvement of Israeli intelligence service Mossad.
In return, they say, Maxwell laundered Russian money into the West – with the help of Epstein.
They think the financier was introduced to Maxwell and the KGB by an oil tycoon also in the pay of Russian intelligence. Probes into Robert Maxwell‘s business dealings have uncovered links not only to the KGB and Mossad – but also MI6.
Federal Authorities Mapped Out Epstein’s Inner Circle
The document featured photos and names of a number of well-known people in Mr. Epstein’s orbit, including his convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell; his lawyer Darren Indyke; his accountant Richard Kahn; his financial adviser Harry Beller; his longtime assistant Lesley Groff; and Jean-Luc Brunel, who died by suicide in a French jail after being charged with rape.
The names and faces of several other people, described as Mr. Epstein’s employees or girlfriends, were redacted in the document.
Of all the people depicted or referred to in the chart, only Ms. Maxwell was ever charged with helping Mr. Epstein engage in the sex trafficking of teenage girls
Ghislaine Maxwell Says She’d Answer Congress’s Questions If She Gets Immunity or Clemency
In a letter to the House Oversight Committee, Maxwell’s lawyer David Markus said she would appear only after resolving her appeal of her sex-trafficking conviction before the Supreme Court. Markus added that Maxwell would require immunity for any questioning, saying she couldn’t risk further criminal exposure, and would need a list of questions in advance.

Maxwell was responding to a subpoena for her testimony from the committee, chaired by Rep. James Comer (R., Ky.). Without the requested assurances, Markus said in the letter, Maxwell would invoke her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
“Of course, in the alternative, if Ms. Maxwell were to receive clemency, she would be willing—and eager—to testify openly and honestly,” Markus told Comer.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s Court Papers Missing From Public Record
(January 7, 2026)
In a letter submitted to U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer on Tuesday, Jay Clayton, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, noted that a total of 14 pages were missing from Maxwell’s motion to vacate submitted on December 17. Examining the public docket shows that Maxwell’s appeal omitted pages 13 to 19 and pages 27 to 33, as Clayton observed.
The government has received a full version of the motion in electronic form and in a USB drive sent via FedEx, he wrote, but these papers remain absent from the public record.
Newsweek has contacted the U.S. Attorney’s office and Maxwell’s lawyer via email for further comment.
The DOJ offers only excuses as the Epstein Files remain secret
There is one additional fact related to the Epstein Files release that has largely gone unnoticed. In early December, shortly before the full set of Epstein Files was supposed to be made public, Ghislaine Maxwell filed a motion to vacate her conviction. This is a routine motion often filed by federal prisoners after their direct appeals have been rejected.
Years before Epstein came under investigation in Palm Beach, local police got tip about Maxwell
„They are paid $200.00 per day for htis [sic] service. It is unclear what is occurring in the residence,“ reads the opening entry in the Town of Palm Beach Police Department report, dated Dec. 6, 2001.
(…)
Ultimately, the four-page report indicates that the investigation was closed after a determination that no crimes had occurred.
„Although it appears as though usual [sic] activity is occurring at this residence, at this time, no illegal activity has been reported or detected,“ reads the report‘s final entry on April 25, 2002.
Epstein, Israel, and the CIA: How the Iran-Contra Planes Landed at Les Wexner‘s Base
Stanley Pottinger, as it happens, was a notable figure in the scandal that became known as Iran-Contra, in which the CIA used Israel as a middleman to move off-the-books weapons to Iran. In the early 1980s, under the CIA’s supervision, Pottinger advised an Iranian banker on shipping embargoed arms to Iran using fraudulent paperwork and overseas “dummy companies”—in the very same period that Pottinger and Epstein worked together selling “tax-avoidance” strategies from a penthouse by Central Park. Pottinger’s system eventually gave rise to a network of covert intermediaries shipping arms around the world; the CIA’s profits became a slush fund used to illegally bankroll the insurgent Contra army, who waged a war against Nicaragua’s leftist government while simultaneously trafficking cocaine to the United States.
(…)
Pottinger escaped prosecution after the FBI’s incriminating tapes of his conversations mysteriously disappeared; he went on to make a fortune on real estate deals in the 1980s, and became a New York Times’ bestselling novelist. His Times obit from last year reports that his final spy thriller remains unpublished. Hashemi died in 1986 after being infected with “a rare and virulent form of leukemia” that was diagnosed only two days before he died. (His death was later alleged to be foul play.)
Judge says Ghislaine Maxwell court documents can be released as part of the push for information on Jeffrey Epstein
The ruling from Judge Paul Engelmayer opens the door for the department to publicly release evidence it had gathered against Maxwell, an associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The trove of documents, which will be redacted to protect victims’ identities and other identifiable information, includes grand jury transcripts, financial records, travel documents, and notes from victim interviews obtained during the investigations.
It is not yet clear when the department plans to make the documents public or how much of the material will be new.
Epstein files: Judge releases grand jury materials from the Ghislaine Maxwell case
A Manhattan federal judge on Tuesday ordered the unsealing of grand jury materials related to the prosecution of Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite and longtime companion of Jeffrey Epstein, who is currently in prison after being convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking a minor and other counts.
Judge Paul Engelmayer made the order in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan at the request of the Department of Justice, citing the Epstein Files Transparency Act that Congress passed almost unanimously last month, per CNBC.
Who Is Ghislaine Maxwell‘s Father, Alleged Spy For Israel, UK And Russia
(July 24, 2025)
Multiple sources report that UK Foreign Office suspected Maxwell as a double or triple agent, with ties to MI6, the Soviet KGB, and Israeli intelligence Mossad.
Robert Maxwell moved between the White House, the Kremlin, Downing Street, and the leadership of France, Germany, and Israel.
Justice Department moves to unseal Epstein, Maxwell grand jury transcripts amid calls for transparency
Grand jury proceedings are ordinarily secret by law, or as the motion says, „a tradition of law that proceedings before a grand jury shall generally remain secret.“ But the filing notes this tradition „is not absolute.“
Federal courts have recognized „certain ‘special circumstances’“ where releasing grand jury records is appropriate even outside the usual exceptions, like when a case holds significant public or historical importance.
Trump directs Bondi to release relevant grand jury transcripts in Epstein case
Many Trump supporters have pushed for additional disclosures after the FBI and Justice Department last week stated Epstein did not have a client list and that his 2019 death at his New York City jail cell was a suicide. A number of prominent Trump supporters have for years pushed conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death and claims that a client list would reveal ties between Epstein and prominent Democrats.
Epstein, accused in several cases of sex trafficking young girls, ran in high-powered circles with figures that included Trump, former President Clinton, Britain’s Prince Andrew, and several other celebrities and ultrawealthy people. Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, has been convicted of sex trafficking.
