Joint Foreign Ministers‘ Statement on the Two-State Solution

(September 8, 2026)

Statement of the Foreign Ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK on the Two-State Solution

1. The Government of Israel’s actions in the West Bank are undermining the possibility of a two-State solution. The situation is rapidly deteriorating amid unprecedented levels of settler violence and settlement expansion, including the unacceptable decision to publish tenders for the E1 settlement project. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, the President of France Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney have agreed on the need to take action to prevent further damage.

Today, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK confirm their intention to introduce national and/or support European restrictions on trade in goods with settlements which are illegal under international law, or that they are actively considering these and other measures, in accordance with their national procedures. In this regard, the UK, France and Canada welcome the important action already taken by Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium and will bring forward national measures to ban trade in settlement goods.

„The set of measures I have announced represents a clear message to the government of Israel, to the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, and to the world that we will not acquiesce in the destruction of the two-state solution,“ Miliband said.

Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General – on the unauthorized entry into and interference with the UNRWA Kalandia Training Centre

Today’s actions are the fifth instance of unauthorized entry by the Israeli authorities into the Centre since May this year and follow other unacceptable breaches of the inviolability of and interference with UNRWA premises in occupied East Jerusalem, including the seizure and demolition of the Sheikh Jarrah compound, as well as the cutting off the supply of water and electricity services to multiple UNRWA facilities. These actions take place in the context of domestic legislation which significantly impedes UNRWA from fulfilling the mandate in the Occupied Palestine Territory entrusted to it by the General Assembly, most recently in resolution 80/78. I reiterate my call for the repeal of the legislation.

According to the statement, Israeli officials subsequently made public statements indicating that the premises had been seized by the Israeli authorities.

UNRWA unequivocally condemned this unauthorized and deeply concerning incursion into the Kalandia Training Centre.

Greece moves Patriot system to Crete over reported Iran threats to US bases

The battery was moved from the eastern island of Karpathos to Crete, where there is a major US base at Souda, the reports said.

The aim is to bolster air defence around Souda‘s strategically important naval and air facilities, which serve both the Greek Armed Forces and the United States and NATO.

The Souda base plays a pivotal role in supporting allied operations across the wider region, making its protection particularly critical under the current security conditions.

International Criminal Court: Statement by the High Representative on US sanctions against the President and a Senior Trial Lawyer

The European Union reiterates its unwavering support for the International Criminal Court (ICC). The EU deeply regrets the decision by the United States to impose sanctions against International Criminal Court President Judge Tomoko Akane and Senior Trial Lawyer Abdoulaye Seye.

The ICC is a cornerstone of the international criminal justice system and the global fight against impunity. It plays an essential role in ensuring accountability for the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole. Its independence, impartiality and ability to carry out its mandate must be free from pressure, intimidation or interference.

Sanctions against the Court, its officials and personnel undermine its work. The EU stands firmly with the ICC and will continue to provide its full support to ensure the protection of the Court and its staff against external pressures or threats.

The EU remains unwavering in its commitment to the Rome Statute and to safeguarding the independence and integrity of the Court.

EU Condemns Trump Administration’s Sanctions On ICC President, Senior Trial Lawyer, Backs Court

The European Union has reaffirmed its “unwavering support” for the International Criminal Court (ICC), strongly condemning the decision by the United States to impose sanctions on the Court’s President, Judge Tomoko Akane, and Senior Trial Lawyer, Abdoulaye Seye.

The EU said the ICC remains a cornerstone of the international criminal justice system and plays a critical role in the global fight against impunity, particularly by ensuring accountability for some of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.

The ICC strongly rejects new US sanctions designations

The International Criminal Court deplores the announcement of new designations for sanctions by the US administration against Judge Tomoko Akane (Japan), the President of the Court, and Mr Abdoulaye Seye (Senegal), Senior Trial Lawyer at the Office of the Prosecutor.

These sanctions are a flagrant attack against the independence of an impartial judicial institution which operates pursuant to the mandate conferred by its States Parties from across regions. As a result of these designations, at present, nine of the eighteen Judges, both of the two Deputy-Prosecutors, the former Prosecutor and one staff member have been sanctioned by the United States.

Such measures targeting judges, prosecutors and staff who work towards the fulfilment of the mandate that was conferred to the ICC by States undermine the rule of law. When judicial actors are threatened for applying the law, it is the international legal order itself that is placed at risk.

‘Deranged Behavior’: Marco Rubio Slammed for US Sanctions on ICC President

The social media account of Drop Site News accused Rubio of attacking the court solely to protect Netanyahu from war crimes prosecution, pointing out that “there is currently not a single American citizen under indictment, investigation, or facing an arrest warrant” from the ICC.

The sanctions earned the praise of the Israeli American Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which accused the ICC of conducting “politically motivated investigations and prosecutions targeting America and Israel.”

Rutgers Law School professor Adil Haque said the ICC sanctions showed the US was acting like a “rogue government” and engaged in “deranged behavior.”

Trump Threatens ‘Leakers’ With Jail Time Over Reports About Munitions Shortages

(August 6, 2026)

Media reports have also said that the US has used up nearly all of its ATACMS missiles and Precision-Strike Missiles, which were both used extensively in strikes on Iran.

Trump also responded to a report from The Washington Post that said he lashed out at US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over the munitions shortages, which one source told the outlet was part of the reason why Trump held off on his threats to dramatically escalate the war.

Sources told the Post that on the sidelines of a recent cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump vented his frustration at Hegseth over the munitions shortages. The report said that Hegseth then blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for both the shortages and for failing to ensure Trump was informed about the issue.

Iran’s list of conditions ‘a deal-breaker for US’: Expert

Richard Weitz, an international security expert at the NATO Defense College, says the US is highly unlikely to accept Iran’s demand for compensation or any other conditions it has set for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

“President Trump has explicitly excluded that [paying Iran compensation] and it wouldn’t have support in Congress to fund such a proposal,” Weitz told Al Jazeera.

“In fact, this whole list of conditions
Iran has reinserted is going to be a deal-breaker for the White House,” Weitz added.

It wasn’t stopping really the status quo in any way. He did help get some of the Epstein files released, and God bless him for that. He tried his hardest. But one man against 216 other members of his party is not going to get very far by definition, so why don’t you just leave him alone? Why force the issue?

CF leaders call government action after US-Saudi strikes

2026-07-29 12:28

Leaders of Iraq‘s Coordination Framework, on Wednesday, condemned the US-Saudi strikes on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) sites in Iraq that killed 20 members and injured 32 others in seven provinces.

Former PM Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, considered the strikes “a breach of the principle of Islamic fraternity, and a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.” He questioned the timing of the strikes, saying they came after the Iraqi government had formed investigative committees to examine claims that drones had been launched from Iraqi territory toward Saudi oil facilities. That step, he said, showed Iraq was addressing the matter through legal and institutional channels rather than military escalation.

Al-Sudani said Iraq retained its legitimate rights under international law, including the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Slamming Trump’s Cuba Report as ‘McCarthyite Attack’ on Free Speech, Dems Vow to Fight Back

President Donald Trump’s escalating claims that Cuba and its supporters poses a threat to US security have been denounced as “laughable” and “crazy,” but progressive lawmakers are warning that the State Department’s report alleging that the country of roughly 10 million people aims to “conquer” the United States and is backing “left-wing terrorism on American soil” represents a genuine attack on Trump’s perceived political enemies.

“Trump appears hell-bent on taking America back 70 years to the height of Cold War McCarthyism, when hawkish foreign policy was paired with unsubstantiated accusations of communist subversion and political repression against dissidents at home,” said a group of Democrats led by progressive Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Peace and Security Taskforce. “We condemn this report’s attack on Americans’ constitutional rights to free speech and assembly.”
