Am 9. Dezember hat die DKP bekanntgegeben, dass ihr die GLS-Bank ohne weitere Begründung alle Konten gekündigt hat. Kurz vor der Kündigung hatte die Bank bei der DKP mit dem Verweis „dringend“ Informationen zu einer Spendenaktion für Kuba eingefordert. Zuvor waren dieses Jahr bereits die Konten zahlreicher regierungskritischer Journalisten wie z.B. Gaby Weber, Aya Velázquez und Flavio von Witzleben sowie von Verlagen (Mehring Verlag) und Radiostationen (Kontrafunk) aufgekündigt worden. Die NachDenkSeiten wollten vor diesem Hintergrund wissen, ob die Bundesregierung ausschließen kann, dass einzelne Ministerien Druck auf die entsprechenden Banken ausgeübt haben, und wie Kanzler Merz grundsätzlich die zunehmende Tendenz zum „Debanking“ von regierungskritischen Stimmen in Deutschland bewertet.

Erika Kirk Speaks to the Liberal Elite—and Almost Sticks the Landing
Though Kirk has become a national figure since the death of her husband, her selection as the closing speaker at the annual summit for the Times’ business vertical was unexpected. But Sorkin explained the reason for the decision after the two got onstage. About a year ago, he said, he met and befriended Charlie. The two texted and emailed frequently about their political disagreements.
“Charlie Kirk was supposed to be here today. He was supposed to be part of a task force that we had been talking about for quite some time,” Sorkin said. He decided to instead extend the invitation to Erika Kirk after she spoke ahead of President Donald Trump at her husband’s televised memorial service. “I sat and watched the funeral by video, and I watched you, and I sat in awe…when you forgave the assassin…. It was at that moment I said to myself, I need to talk to Erika,” Sorkin explained.
The Trial of Galileo: An Account
The trial by the Congregation moved to its conclusion. Several of the ten cardinals apparently pushed for Galileo‘s incarceration in prison, while those more supportive of Galileo argued that–with changes–the Dialogue ought to continue to be allowed to circulate. In the end, a majority of the cardinals–rejecting much of the Commissary‘s agreement with Galileo–demanded Galileo „even with the threat of torture…abjure in a plenary assembly of the Congregation of the Holy Office…[and] then be condemned to imprisonment at the pleasure of the Holy Congregation.“ Moreover, the cardinals declared, the Dialogue „is to be prohibited.“
The grand play ran its course, with the Pope insisting upon a formal sentence, a tough examination of Galileo, public abjuration, and „formal prison.“ Galileo was forced to appear once again for formal questioning about his true feelings concerning the Copernican system. Galileo obliged, so as not to risk being branded a heretic, testifying that „I held, as I still hold, as most true and indisputable, the opinion of Ptolemy, that is to say, the stability of the Earth and the motion of the Sun.“ Galileo‘s renunciation of Copernicanism ended with the words, „I affirm, therefore, on my conscience, that I do not now hold the condemned opinion and have not held it since the decision of authorities….I am here in your hands–do with me what you please.“
‘A wave of truth’: COP30 targets disinformation threat to climate action
Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva set the tone at the opening session, declaring that the battle for truth has become just as critical as the fight to cut emissions. COP30 must mark “a new defeat for climate denialists,” he said.
On Wednesday, 12 nations – including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and Spain – signed onto the first-ever Declaration on Information Integrity on Climate Change, pledging to fight back against the flood of false content and protect those on the frontlines of truth: environmental journalists, scientists and researchers.
The declaration, unveiled under the Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change, calls for concrete steps to dismantle networks of climate lies and shield evidence-based voices from harassment and attacks.

Innuendo of such seriousness affects not only the individual concerned, but also the whole reputation of the American government. Our organization itself is directly involved: among other facts, we contributed information to the investigation. Conspiracy theories have frequently thrown suspicion on our organization, for example by falsely alleging that Lee Harvey Oswald worked for us. The aim of this dispatch is to provide material countering and discrediting the claims of the conspiracy theorists, so as to inhibit the circulation of such claims in other countries. Background information is supplied in a classified section and in a number of unclassified attachments.
3. Action. We do not recommend that discussion of the assassination question be initiated where it is not already taking place. Where discussion is active, however, addresses are requested:
a. To discuss the publicity problem with liaison and friendly elite contacts (especially politicians and editors), pointing out that the Warren Commission made as thorough an investigation as humanly possible, that the charges of the critics are without serious foundation, and that further speculative discussion only plays into the hands of the opposition. Point out also that parts of the conspiracy talk appear to be deliberately generated by Communist propagandists. Urge them to use their influence to discourage unfounded and irresponsible speculation.
b. To employ propaganda assets to answer and refute the attacks of the critics. Book reviews and feature articles are particularly appropriate for this purpose. The unclassified attachments to this guidance should provide useful background material for passing to assets. Our ploy should point out, as applicable, that the critics are (I) wedded to theories adopted before the evidence was in, (I) politically interested, (III) financially interested, (IV) hasty and inaccurate in their research, or (V) infatuated with their own theories.

4. In private to media discussions not directed at any particular writer, or in attacking publications which may be yet forthcoming, the following arguments should be useful:
a. No significant new evidence has emerged which the Commission did not consider. The assassination is sometimes compared (e.g., by Joachim Joesten and Bertrand Russell) with the Dreyfus case; however, unlike that case, the attack on the Warren Commission have produced no new evidence, no new culprits have been convincingly identified, and there is no agreement among the critics. (A better parallel, though an imperfect one, might be with the Reichstag fire of 1933, which some competent historians (Fritz Tobias, AJ.P. Taylor, D.C. Totalüberwachung, und damit ermöglichte politische Verfolgung, wird nun „gezielt“ erlaubt

Die Vorgänge repräsentieren nicht nur den Totalausfall einer weiteren Generation von Deutschen und die Legasthenie ihrer Fachidioten. Sie werfen auch ein Schlaglicht auf weltweite Datenbanken von Geheimdiensten, Anwaltsfirmen und Banken und deren politische Verfolgung von „politischen Individuen“.
Die seit 2002 durch den Staat offen praktizierte, aber von fast allen ignorierte „strategische Überwachung der Telekommunikation“ an deren Infrastruktur wird nächsten Freitag durch das Parlament im neuen B.N.D-Gesetz präzisiert.
Hinweis 09.07.16: das Gesetz, Drucksache 18/9041, wurde in erster Lesung behandelt, ist somit noch nicht beschlossen und bis nach der zweimonatigen „Sommerpause“ des Bundestages vertagt.
Damit hat die Simulation von „Opposition“ und „Untersuchungsausschuss“ in der seit Beginn der Snowden-Affäre außer Funktion gesetzten Republik ihren objektiven Zweck erfüllt.
Unter dem Netzpolitik.org zugesandten Geschwafel irgendwelcher Simulanten ist lediglich das Statement vom Beirat der DE-CIX Management GmbH relevant. Klaus Landefeld gegenüber Netzpolitik.org:
„Alles, was NSA und GCHQ vorgeworfen wurde, soll dem BND jetzt auch erlaubt sein – die Bundesregierung legalisiert die Praxis sozusagen im Nachhinein.“
Das ist falsch.
Erlaubt war dem B.N.D. das vollständige Kopieren an den Netzknoten, auch am Frankfurter DE-CIX, spätetens durch die im November 2005 erneut verschärfte Regierungsverordnung „Telekommunikations-Überwachungsverordnung“ (TKÜV). Darunter fielen auch „inländische Fernmeldenetzknoten, die jeweils mit einem ausländischen Netzknoten zusammengeschaltet sind“ und „vom und in das Ausland“ geführter Telekommunikationsverkehr (Zitat Bundesverfassungsgericht, Beschluss 1 BvL 7/08, 13.05.2009).
Der Bundestag, natürlich auch „Linke“ und „Grüne“, wusste davon spätestens seit 2012.
Welche Luftnummer auch die DE-CIX Management GmbH und ihr Beirat Klaus Landefeld repräsentieren, mag man der Tatsache entnehmen, dass Landefeld nun hinsichtlich des Raubkopierens des deutschen Staates am größten Telekommunikations-Knoten auf dem Planeten von einer „Legalisierung im Nachhinein“ redet, aber im April 2015 genau gegen diese bislang angeblich illegale Praxis des B.N.D. vor dem Bundesverwaltungsgericht klagen wollte. Bereits damals hieß es unter der Presseerklärung:
„Eine Klage wurde aber noch nicht beim Bundesverwaltungsgericht eingereicht. „
Sie wurde auch nie eingereicht.
Der Beirat der DE-CIX Management GmbH Klaus Landefeld nun am Donnerstag weiter gegenüber Netzpolitik.org zum aktuellen B.N.D.-Gesetz:
„Wenn der Gesetzentwurf so verabschiedet wird, wird erstmalig in voller Absicht eine anlasslose Massenüberwachung im Inland gezielt erlaubt.
Auch die Kommunikation deutscher Staatbürger wird dem Dienst dabei zugeleitet, der einzige Schutz unserer Grundrechte besteht in einem obskuren, geheimen Filter welcher – wie bereits in der Gesetzesbegründung ausgeführt – schlicht nicht in einem ausreichenden Masse funktional ist.“
Wie bereits hinreichend dargelegt, verbirgt sich hinter der Formulierung „gezielt erlaubt“ die Legasthenie einer weiteren Generation von Deutschen in ihrer Gesamtheit.
Mit dem „obskuren, geheimen Filter“ meint Klaus Landefeld offensichtlich die in der TKÜV durch den Staat offen und für jeden einsehbar verfügte
„Aufstellung und..Betrieb von Geräten des Bundesnachrichtendienstes.. die nur von hierzu besonders ermächtigten Bediensteten des Bundesnachrichtendienstes eingestellt und gewartet werden dürfen“.
Schon wieder Hausdurchsuchung wegen „falscher“ Meinung: Diese Einschüchterungen müssen aufhören!
Hintergrund ist laut Bolz‘ Anwalt Joachim Steinhöfel ein Tweet aus dem Januar 2024, in dem Bolz schrieb:

Nach Angaben der Staatsanwaltschaft kam der Hinweis von einer Meldestelle gegen Hetze in Netz, wie Medien berichten. Nach Informationen der Welt erhielt die Zentrale Meldestelle für strafbare Inhalte im Internet (ZMI) des Bundeskriminalamtes (BKA) bereits am 27. November 2024 eine Meldung der Plattform „HessenGegenHetze“ zu dem Beitrag von Bolz. Laut den Berichten ging auch im sogenannten „Schwachkopf“-Prozess gegen einen bayerischen Rentner, der ein satirisches Meme über Wirtschaftsminister Robert Habeck (Grüne) geteilt hatte, der entscheidende Hinweis von „HessenGegenHetze“ aus.
Kürzlich hatte auch der Politiker Jürgen Todenhöfer berichtet, dass gegen ihn wegen Äußerungen in sozialen Netzwerken ein Beschluss für Hausdurchsuchung, Leibesvisitation und Beschlagnahme vorliege, der aber nicht vollstreckt worden sei, wie Medien berichten.

One target at a time: The logic that helped Israeli liberals commit genocide
Yet to see the past two years not only through the prism of genocide but also as a second Nakba — a sustained project of erasure aimed at destroying both a people and the space they inhabit — may bring us closer to grasping the nature of Israel’s actions. Whereas genocide is often understood as violence for its own sake, the Nakba represents violence with a purpose: the removal and replacement of a people.
And yet, as a Jewish-Israeli faced with the horrors of the past two years, I cannot help but think in Holocaust terms. How Israelis turned atrocity denial into an art

Meanwhile, the reprehensible refusal by the vast majority of the Israeli media to show what is actually happening in Gaza means that when images do manage to slip through, the public response is often little more than a collective shrug of dismissal. Yet almost every time, that shrug is accompanied by “they deserved it,” as denial and justification intertwine in what may seem like a paradox but actually reflects two sides of the same coin.
Glaubwürdigkeit verlangt Aufarbeitung
Was ist also mit jenen, die schon früh das Richtige gesagt haben? Was ist mit jenen, die das Grauen in Gaza nicht schweigend hingenommen und dafür einen hohen Preis bezahlt haben? Die Liste der Betroffenen ist lang und im Archive of Silence und dem Index of Repression ausführlich dokumentiert. Besonders drastische Beispiele lieferten die Technische Universität München, wo Studierende, die an einer palästinasolidarischen Veranstaltung teilnehmen wollten, von der Polizei in einem Raum eingesperrt und anschließend wegen »Hausfriedensbruch« angezeigt wurden, obwohl sie von der Universität selbst dort hineingelockt worden waren.
Weitere eindrückliche Beispiele sind die Entlassung Melanie Schweizers aus dem Arbeitsministerium, die Absagen gleich mehrerer Veranstaltungen mit der UN-Sonderberichterstatterin Francesca Albanese, die Kündigung von Helen Fares durch den SWR, die rechtswidrige Auflösung des Palästina-Kongresses in Berlin, die Absage der »Talking about (the Silencing of) Palestine«-Konferenz in Frankfurt oder die Einstufung der Jüdischen Stimme für gerechten Frieden und Palästina Spricht als extremistische Organisationen durch den Verfassungsschutz. Die Liste ließe sich endlos fortführen – und sie bleibt notwendig unvollständig.
Germany’s angel of history is screaming
How can a country that professes to be a gatekeeper of international law staunchly defend a state that so flagrantly violates it? I assumed a role in which people are called “targets”, and those people who really interest us are in no sense terrorists, but rather generally normative people – who interest us because of their roles, so that we can obtain more intelligence and achieve greater access. We take advantage of the capabilities that we have over these people in order to put ourselves at ease. We take advantage of the impact that we have on their lives. Sometimes it involves truly harming a person’s life, or their soul. I mean extortion whereby they must hide things from people around them. It can really screw up their lives. It made me feel omnipotent.

1966 gründete Bertrand Russell angesichts der Kriegsverbrechen des u.s-amerikanischen Militärs im Vietnamkrieg das Russell-Tribunal. In 2014 tagte die traditionsreiche Institution über die israelischen Kriegsverbrechen im Feldzug gegen den Gazastreifen in diesem Sommer. Referenten des Russell-Tribunals, neben Juroren wie Roger Waters: David Sheen (Israel) und Max Blumenthal (U.S.A.). Am 9., 10. und 11. November wollten David und Max auf Veranstaltungen in Berlin über das Russell-Tribunal und dessen Ergebnisse berichten.
Die Veranstaltung am 9. November sagte die Volksbühne, nach einem Brief von Volker Beck (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, Vorsitzender der deutsch-israelischen Parlamentariergruppe), Petra Pau (Die Linke) und dem ehemaligen Wehrbeauftragten Reinhold Robbe (SPD, Vorsitzender der deutsch-israelischen Gesellschaft e.V.), am Vorabend der Veranstaltung wieder ab – offenbar unter direkter Intervention von Gregor Gysi, Fraktionsführer von Die Linke im Bundestag. Auf der kurzfristig verlegten Veranstaltung berichteten sowohl David Sheen, als auch Max Blumenthal, von einem gefährlichen Rechtsruck in der israelischen Gesellschaft, in der Rassismus, Verfolgung gegen Andersdenkende und Andersgläubige, sowie Linke und Dissidenten, mittlerweile salonfähig genauso geworden sind wie Demonstrationen gegen interreligiöse Heirat. Diese Entwicklung reicht bereits bis hin zu Forderungen nach „Konzentration“ und „Auslöschung“ aufständischer Palästinenser, erhoben durch den Parlamentspräsidenten Moshe Feiglin, und der Beschimpfung afrikanischer Flüchtlinge als „Krebs“ der Gesellschaft durch die heutige Vorsitzende des Innenausschusses der Knesset, Miri Regev.
Sowohl David Sheen, als auch Max Blumenthal, zeigten sich äußerst irritiert darüber, dass ihnen zuvor durch deutsche Politiker, Volker Beck, Petra Pau, Reinhold Robbe, im Brief an die Volksbühne unterstellt worden war, sie würden durch diese Berichte
„antisemitische Ressentiments bedienen und die Terrorherrschaft der Nazis durch Vergleiche mit der israelischen Regierung relativieren.“

On October 24, 2023, two and a half weeks after Hamas’ attack on Israel, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported a grim new record: Israel’s bombardment of the Strip had killed 704 Palestinians in the previous 24 hours alone. The next day, Egyptian-Canadian writer Omar El Akkad posted a now famous sentence on X: “One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.”
That razor-sharp turn of phrase, which has since been viewed more than 10 million times, stayed with El Akkad all the way to February 2025, when it became the title of his third book.

Faced with the existential threat that Israel’s war on Gaza poses to their self-image, one might expect Western liberals to reckon with El Akkad’s core argument. And yet, outside of the ideological pro-Israel factions who cling to dogma over truth, the self-styled progressive is more likely to acknowledge past injustice only once nothing can be done to change it — when the most they can muster is a weary shrug: “It is what it is,” or, “We had no choice.”
“One remarkable difference between the modern Western conservative and their liberal counterpart,” he writes, “is that the former will gleefully sign their name on the side of the bomb while the latter will just sheepishly initial it.”

In a letter addressed to the Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany published today, Commissioner O’Flaherty raises concerns about restrictions to freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly of persons protesting in the context of the conflict in Gaza, as well as about reports of excessive use of force by police against protesters, including children.
Commissioner O’Flaherty also observes restrictions on events, symbols, or other forms of expression in this context. He recalls that member states have little scope to impose restrictions on political speech or on debate on matters of public interest, in line with the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe standards on freedom of expression, hate speech and hate crime. He urges the German authorities to be vigilant that the working definition of antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance is not distorted, instrumentalised or misapplied to stifle freedom of expression and legitimate criticism, including of the state of Israel.
Recalling that member states have legal obligations to refrain from undue interference with human rights and to ensure the effective enjoyment of the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly for all, the Commissioner asks the German authorities to avoid taking measures that discriminate against persons based on their political or other opinions, religion or belief, ethnic origin, nationality or migration status.

It is my understanding that since February 2025, the Berlin authorities have imposed restrictions on the use of the Arabic language and cultural symbols in the context of the protests. In some cases, such as an assembly in Berlin on 15 May 2025, marches have been restricted to stationary gatherings. Furthermore, protestors were allegedly subject to intrusive surveillance, online or in person, and arbitrary police checks. I am also concerned by reports of excessive use of force by police against protesters, including minors, sometimes leading to injuries.

I understand that restrictions have been justified on the basis that events, symbols, or other forms of expression “disrupt public order” or “disturb public peace”. The case-law of the European Court of Human Rights’ (the Court) establishes that freedom of expression “applies not only to ‘information’ and ‘ideas’ that are favourably received, regarded as inoffensive, or which leave one indifferent […] – it implies pluralism, tolerance and openness, without which there is no ‘democratic society’”. In assessing the necessity of the interference, member states have little scope to impose restrictions on political speech or on debate on matters of public interest, unless the views expressed comprise incitements to violence, and must always carry out such an assessment case by case.
I observe that other justifications invoked for the restrictions on rights include the prevention of antisemitism. I note with concern reports indicating that the working definition of antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) has been interpreted by some German authorities in ways which lead to the blanket classification of criticism of Israel as antisemitic. In that regard, I urge you to be vigilant that the IHRA working definition is not distorted, instrumentalised or misapplied to stifle freedom of expression and legitimate criticism, including of the state of Israel

Der Menschenrechtskommissar des Europarates, Michael O’Flaherty, hat in einem am 19. Juni veröffentlichten Brief an Bundesinnenminister Alexander Dobrindt seine Besorgnis über Einschränkungen der Meinungs- und Versammlungsfreiheit in Deutschland zum Ausdruck gebracht. Explizit verweist er in dem Schreiben auf die behördliche Repression von Protesten gegen Israels Vorgehen in Gaza sowie eine Instrumentalisierung des Antisemitismusvorwurfs, „um legitime Kritik, auch am Staat Israel, zu unterdrücken.“

Offenbar werden bekannte Regimekritiker genauso ins Visier genommen wie Menschen, die in den sozialen Medien Bilder und Videos von israelischen Luftangriffen posten.

NBC News reports that Gabbard has been sidelined in the White House debate on Iran. In her X post, the intelligence chief appeared to attempt to align her view with the president’s. “Iran is at the point that it can produce a nuclear weapon within weeks to months, if they decide to finalize the assembly,” she wrote. “President Trump has been clear that can’t happen, and I agree.”
Many users on X are comparing Gabbard’s post to former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s 2003 address to the UN Security Council. During the speech, Powell infamously presented false information that hardened beliefs among Americans that Iraq was seeking weapons of mass destruction, and that dictator Saddam Hussein had ties to al-Qaeda.

Our dating does not support hypotheses concerning brain size reduction as a by-product of body size reduction, a result of a shift to an agricultural diet, or a consequence of self-domestication. We suggest our analysis supports the hypothesis that the recent decrease in brain size may instead result from the externalization of knowledge and advantages of group-level decision-making due in part to the advent of social systems of distributed cognition and the storage and sharing of information. Humans live in social groups in which multiple brains contribute to the emergence of collective intelligence. Although difficult to study in the deep history of Homo, the impacts of group size, social organization, collective intelligence and other potential selective forces on brain evolution can be elucidated using ants as models.
