Coalition-backed bill would allow continuity into next Knesset and create a six-member committee to investigate the massacre, war and events that preceded them, in place of a state commission of inquiry

In Israelâs astonishing new reality, voters expect Netanyahu to try to sabotage elections
(June 30, 2026)
The fear that Israel is actually quite close to such a postponement cuts across much of Israeli society. Iâve heard it expressed by secular liberals, military veterans, former intelligence officials, legal scholars, journalists, centrist politicians, and even some conservatives who once supported Netanyahu enthusiastically. What unites them is the growing belief that Netanyahu now considers remaining in power to be an existential necessity â and that his radical base will back him no matter what outrage he attempts.
Hadash: No to Netanyahuâs Eternal War
(June 8, 2026)
âThe time has come to stop providing automatic backing for destructive policies that lead to endless bloodshed, and instead fight for diplomatic agreements, true security, and peace. No to war with Iran. No to Netanyahuâs eternal war.â
According to Hadash MK Ayman Odeh, âWar is the last resort for those who have no answers. War is the last resort of those who fear facing reality. And no one fears reality more than the Israeli government and large segments of the opposition, who repeatedly rush to align themselves behind the government, even attempting to outflank from the right the most right-wing and dangerous government in the countryâs history.â
âWere they truly brave, rather than warmongers, they would call for an immediate halt to the escalation and present an alternative to the public. And the alternative is clear: a peaceful agreement that ensures security for all peoples in the region and respects the national rights of both nations living on this land. It is impossible to keep running away from this issue. It is impossible to keep fearing to speak the truth. It is impossible to keep falling for the illusion that more wars will bring security. Therefore, I say here in the clearest possible way: No to war with Iran. No to the eternal war. Yes, to a peaceful agreement. Yes, to a different, safer, and more just future for all of us,â he agreed.
No opposition in Israel âwhen it comes to warsâ
âThere is not really an opposition in Israel when it comes to wars. When it comes to wars, to occupation, to apartheid, there is no opposition,â Gideon Levy, a columnist at Israeli newspaper Haaretz, told Al Jazeera.
âThey all think the same. There is an opposition to Netanyahu in person, a very devoted one, a very decisive one. But not against the wars,â he added.
Joint List Factions Ready to Form Alliance of Independent Parties Ahead of Elections.
According to Jabareen, âThe dissolution of the Joint List in 2021 was a severe mistake that cost the Arab public political power and influence. Today, everyone understands this.â He added that despite ideological gaps with Raâam, âThe price of running separately will be unbearableâa drop in voter turnout and the continuation of the far-right rule.â He also emphasized that intensive talks are underway to reach agreements: âWe are doing everything we can to bring hope back to our public.â
Representatives from Hadash and two Arab partiers, Balad, and Taâal held a joint meeting last night to accelerate the reunification of the Joint List and remove obstacles toward an agreement. The three parties emphasized their consensus on core political issues and highlighted the importance of ongoing political and parliamentary coordination after the elections.
In a joint statement, the parties declared: âWe would like Raâam to be a partner in the political agreement, but we are aware of the significant gaps between our positions regarding the character and path of the Joint List. Nevertheless, recognizing the importance of unity against existential threats, the parties expressed willingness to reach an agreement with Raâam based on a âtechnical joint listâ for the elections, aiming to raise voter turnout, strengthen Arab representation, and topple the far-right government.â
The Bill to Dissolve the Knesset Passed Its Preliminary Reading; MK Odeh: âThe Evil Govt is Ending its Pathâ
Earlier, a similar bill to dissolve the Knesset, introduced by the Hadash faction, was debated but failed, with 52 opposition lawmakers voting in favor and 61 against. âThe worst government ever, responsible for bloodshed on a horrific scale, is coming to an end,â MK Ayman Odeh stated in the Knesset plenum while presenting his factionâs bill. âWe are at a historic crossroads,â he emphasized
Arab parties meeting to discuss reuniting into Joint List bloc
Last month, the Hadash party announced that it would promote direct dialogue with other Arab parties to explore the revival of the Joint List, which at its peak in 2015 and 2020 became the third-largest bloc in the Knesset and briefly held kingmaker influence.
The Hadash source said that several discussions have since taken place but that Mondayâs was the first to be publicized, signaling âmomentum.â
The bloc split due to internal fighting in 2021 when Mansour Abbasâs Islamist United Arab List (Raâam) broke away and it collapsed the following year ahead of the 2022 election.
Arab parties clash over delayed Joint List agreement, but deny breakdown in talks
(April 5, 2026)
While acknowledging that there was a âheated meeting,â the source added that âsuch disagreements are naturalâ and said that another meeting will take place in the coming weeks.
MK Odeh: Will do Everything to Prevent Smotrich-Netanyahu-Ben Gvir from Continuing in Power
Smotrichâs comments drew immediate condemnation from the opposition, with Raâam chairman Mansour Abbas asserting that âhuman life holds no value in his eyesâ. MK Ayman Odeh, the chairman of Hadash-Taâal parliamentary faction, also slammed Smotrich, declaring on X that âwhat the racists and Kahanists say is not important, what matters is what we will do.â âAnd we, the Arab citizens, together with the democratic Jews, will do everything, simply everything, to prevent Smotrich-Netanyahu-Ben Gvir from continuing to another term,â Odeh wrote.
CPI and Hadash: The Ceasefire Is a Critical Step that Must Become a Permanent Peace
The Communist Party of Israel and the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) condemned on Wednesday evening, April 8, âthe heinous and horrific massacre committed by the far-right Israeli government in Lebanon, only hours after the announcement of a temporary ceasefire in the war. This is a clear sign of the crisis facing war criminals, whose aggressive policies repeatedly fail to establish what they term the New World Order. Furthermore, Netanyahu and his government understand that ending the war signifies the collapse of their legitimacy and the end of their time in power.â
âWe view the ceasefire in the war with Iran as a crucial development that must be maintained, defended, and turned into a standing agreement that guarantees peace and rights for the peoples of the region, while standing firm against any Israeli attempt to thwart it. We emphasize that this war has once again exposed the failure of the policies of aggression and the imperialist bullying of the US and Israel. It has proven that the logic of force, destruction, and occupation does not create security or stability, but rather drags the entire region into further ruin and bloodshed. We reaffirm that the only path to security, stability, and a better future for all peoples of the land and the region is not the path of war and aggression, but a political path based on ending the occupationâas it is the heart of the regional conflictâand the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in all territories occupied by Israel in June 1967,â they said in the common communique.
MK Odeh After Cease-Fire was Announced: âNetanyahu is a Liar and an International Pyromaniacâ
On Wednesday morning, Hadash MK Ofer Cassif said, âCongratulations to the brilliant duo, Orange & Purple, on their impressive list of achievements (economic, strategic & political), culminating in finding the lost key to the Strait of Hormuz. We warned from the very beginning that this was nothing more than a futile and pointless war of deception that would only lead to bloodshed, widowhood, orphanhood, and devastation, without achieving anything. No to occupation, yes to peace.â
According to Hadash MK Ayman Odeh, âIsrael should learn three main lessons from the war: To recognize the limitations of power. There is no stability in the region without Israeli-Palestinian peace and Netanyahu is a liar and an international pyromaniac,â he wrote.
Bombed, but standing
President Masoud Pezeshkian walked Tehranâs sidewalks unfettered, shook hands with people, took selfies with them, and promised to resist. Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejeâi chanted even more loudly as the enemy bombed a site in close proximity to him. Iranâs culture minister and Tehranâs mayor, two politicians from opposite sides of the political spectrum, walked together and raised their fists as smoke billowed behind them. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told foreign reporters that the U.S. would eventually have to accept the determination and resolve of the Iranian people, and Security Chief Ali Larijani said the enemy has yet to truly get to know the Iranian nation. The large presence of Iranian officials came after the American war secretary claimed they had gone underground and were in hiding.
Britain must end all participation in the US-Israel war on Iran
MPs, trade unionists, celebrities and other public figures sign open letter calling on British government to end participation in Iran war
LIVE: Anti-war protest in London
Streamed live 5 hours ago #protest #iran #usa
Protesters gather in central London for a âHands off Iran – Stop Trumpâs Wars“ demonstration.
Stop Bombing Iran
We oppose the US-Israeli illegal war on Iran which is setting the Middle East alight. The war has already escalated into a region-wide conflict. Many hundreds have been killed, including 160 at a girls‘ school in southern Iran.
The UK must not be dragged into yet another disastrous US-led conflict in the Middle East.
We demand that the UK Government:
– Condemns the illegal war on Iran and calls for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities.
– Guarantees that no UK military bases, resources, territory nor airspace will be used by the US or any other military force as part of this war.
– Immediately suspends all arms sales and military support to Israel.
The UK must stand for peace, diplomacy and international law â not escalation and endless war.
Sign this petition to demand that Britain stays out of the war on Iran.
âHands off Iran: Stop Trumpâs Warsâ: national demonstration
US and Israeli illegal strikes on Iran have nothing to do with nuclear threats and everything to do with regime change. With grave risks of a devastating war across the Middle East, join this critical protest!
Assemble 12 noon at Millbank, next to Victoria Tower Gardens to march to the US Embassy.
Protest called by: Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Stop the War Coalition, Muslim Association of Britain, Palestinian Forum in Britain, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
A manifesto from Iran: No to war
(March 2, 2026)
Netanyahu and the hawks in Washington are explicitly aiming, through warmongering rhetoric, sanctions, and threats, to destabilize and weaken our country. The tragedies of January 2026 â like any other suffering â can in no way justify war, nor the imposition of further pain on our compatriots, nor the destruction of Iran in any form.
We, Iranians of different political affiliations, unhesitatingly oppose any aggression against our country. We are convinced that the solution â however difficult to achieve â lies within Iran itself: in constructive change, in the renewal of society, in transformation from the bottom up. This is the way forward. Not war.
That is why we call for a strong and unanimous voice to be raised against any warmongering logic. In the face of any aggression, we will stand by our country. And we invite all our fellow citizens â especially those with a voice, visibility, and credibility â to join this opposition with even greater determination.
A political party with a vision for our future
(February 5, 2026)
Among other things, he told us that the Democrats already have 60,000 members registered in the party, and are shooting for 100,000 now, which will make us the second-largest political party in Israel in terms of numbers. In addition, he stressed the need to reach out to the Arab citizens of Israel, who make up 22 percent of our population:
There is no future for Israel without Jewish-Arab cooperation in Israeli politics.
This is a critical issue in the political discourse right now, since it is obvious that a new government will not be able to be formed if the so-called âcentristâ political parties donât agree to welcome Arab political parties into the next coalition. So far, only The Democrats have agreed to do so!
Yair Golan vows not to fund settlements if he comes to power
(February 2, 2026)
Asked by the media later in the day about his comments, Golan clarified that he was referring to illegal outposts and unauthorized settlement activity.
âThe settlement blocs are part of Israel,â he said after leading a faction meeting in the Knesset. âThey will be, because there is no other possibility. We will strengthen settlements along the border, but there will be no illegal activity.â
The international community â with the notable exception of the United States under President Donald Trump â considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law.
âWe Are Going to Live With Scarsâ: Yair Golanâs Battle for a Two-State Solution
(February 4, 2026)
We were sitting in his modest office behind a Pizza Hut in a quiet neighborhood in Tel Aviv last September. On the wall was a framed photograph of Rabin shaking the hand of King Hussein of Jordan. I asked Golan whether the rift could be repaired. âWeâre like a body thatâs been injured. We are going to live with scars. But OK.â He rolled up his shirtsleeves and pointed to a spot where a bullet from the Hezbollah sniper had sliced through his arm. âItâs possible to live with scars,â he said.
Will Israelâs Arabs reach the political Promised Land? – opinion
The trend in Arab politics is for the four main existing parties to reorganize as a âJoint Listâ for this yearâs election. The aim is to both maximize turnout and prevent wasted votes (because of Balad, nearly 3% of ballots were thrown away last time, and together with a similar situation in Meretz, this handed victory to Netanyahu). Such a list is expected to win 15 seats or more, and even if it splits after the election, some of its components will want to participate in the government. If itâs formed by the opposition, support among Arabs would be overwhelming.
What the Joint Listâs revival signifies for Palestinian politics in Israel
(January 28, 2026)
This is a historic event in a volatile political moment. Even before the publication of polls gauging the Joint Listâs electoral strength â predicting that it could secure 15-16 of the Knessetâs 120 seats, making it the third largest force in Israeli politics â the popular demand for unity suggests the possibility for unprecedented voter turnout in Arab society.
Israeli news outlets described the renewal of the Joint List as âdrama in the political system,â and rightly so. Such a scenario would alter the balance between opposing blocs and force Zionist parties across the spectrum â from Yair Golanâs center-left Democrats to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuâs Likud â to recalibrate their strategies.
Polls: Joint List Wins 14-15 Seats
Polls show the Joint List gaining strength and win 14 to 15 seats in the next Knesset. Wednesdayâs Channel 13 survey sees far-right PM Netanyahuâs Likud party gaining one seat and the Jont List win 15. As with previous surveys, without the Joint List partiesâ support, both blocs fall short of securing the required 61-seat majority to form a ruling coalition
According to another poll, published on Thursday by the Zman Israel website, Joint list of Hadash and three Arab parties would win 14 of the Knessetâs 120 seats if elections were held today, continuing to prevent a parliamentary majority from the Zionist opposition parties.
Return of Joint List Takes Seats from Zionist Opposition
The Zionist opposition bloc achieves 57 seats, while the coalition bloc has 51, with the Joint List in the middle and the poll indicates that the opposition will not be able to form a government without the support of the Joint List. 48% of opposition voters support a government that would be externally supported by the Joint List. 37% oppose the move, and 15% answered that they do not know.
Hadash MK Ayman Odeh, said Friday during a meeting that âHadash and Arab parties are moving to form a unified joint list to confront the fascist government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming elections.â âThese elections are not just about arithmetic. They are a political and ethical battle to prevent the continuation of Netanyahuâs policies and those of his far-right extremist ministers,â added.
