‚Houthis have their own issues‘: Pezeshkian says Iran not at war with Saudi Arabia
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Tehran is “not at war with Saudi Arabia”, as tensions rise over Houthi attacks on the kingdom, Al Jazeera reported.
Pezeshkian said the Houthis have “their own issues”, distancing Iran from the group’s actions.
Will Houthis‘ rapid advance drag US, Saudi Arabia back into Yemen?
A 2022 truce had reduced large-scale combat and allowed Saudi Arabia to distance itself from the conflict, but it left the capital under Houthi control and did nothing to establish centralized control over the country and its heavy weapons.
Now, as the Houthis advance rapidly toward government strongholds in the south, Yemen’s military is scrambling to regroup and make progress on its planned offensive in the north. The question now is whether Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and other powers will now intervene to help blunt the Houthis’ rapid advances.
Yemen’s government vows to fight back after Houthi seizures
Sultan al-Arada, a member of the ruling presidential council, described the collapse of government forces in the port city of Mocha and elsewhere on Yemen’s west coast as “painful and regrettable”.
Al-Arada, also governor of central Marib province, said in a TV interview that government fighters “are currently regrouping and will return to the battle in one form or another”.

Obock, a city only about 20 kilometres (12 miles) across the water from the Yemeni coast, has for several years been a preferred arrival point for those seeking refuge from war-torn Yemen. The Bab-el-Mandeb strait is also used in the opposite direction by migrants from the Horn of Africa, who transit through Yemen on their way to Gulf countries.
Why control of Yemen’s Mocha is so vital
According to reports, their advance is facing little resistance after government-aligned forces withdrew from their positions.
If that continues, it could pave the way for the Houthis to seize more territory along the coast and move closer to Bab al-Mandeb, while increasingly threatening shipping in the crucial Red Sea trade route.
Houthis seize strategic city of al-Makha in ‘stunning’ blow in Yemen
They’ve been battling it out over the past nine days and we knew that the Houthis were trying to push west of Taiz because their main goal, their main prize, was the takeover of the city of al-Makha (Mocha) and also the Red Sea coastline.
It gives the Houthis full advantage to prevent ships from crossing Bab al-Mandeb and also, more importantly, the ability to cut off three main supply lines to the government in the south of the country.
More than 140 killed in latest Yemen clashes: military sources
Beginning on Thursday, the Houthis launched an offensive aiming to cut off the government-held port city of Mokha, under fire for weeks, and advance towards areas bordering the Bab al-Mandab strait at the southern entrance to the Red Sea.

NNA – The Israeli enemy escalated its attacks this afternoon, targeting a vehicle in the town of Maifadoun with a drone, which bombed the area as residents gathered around, before targeting a second vehicle in the town.
A third vehicle was also targeted in the town of Shoukine, bringing the total number of attacks to three. According to initial reports, four civilians were martyred and others wounded.
Possible US-Iran deal marks ‘moment of danger’ for Lebanon
As regional powers are discussing whether or not Lebanon is included in a deal between Iran and the US, this isn’t necessarily a moment of peace here. No safe route for civilians to exit southern Lebanon
Some of the Palestinian refugee camps are densely populated. About 28,000 Palestinian refugees live in Tyre, according to the UN, and only about one-third have left since the displacement threat was issued.
The Israelis are trying to make it seem as if they’ve given everyone enough warning to safely flee, but the Geneva Convention requires that evacuation routes are safe, that people are given enough time, and that a return route is provided so the occupation does not continue.
Israeli military activities in southern Lebanon do not meet those requirements.
Security update: Escalation Across South Lebanon and Western Bekaa
Additional airstrikes hit the area between Deir Qanoun Al Nahr and Abbassiyeh, while the town of Toura was also targeted. Israeli warplanes later carried out a separate strike on Abbassiyeh.
According to local reports, Israeli forces attempted to advance from the Tayr Harfa–Jebbayn axis toward a nearby valley in what appeared to be a move toward the town. The operation coincided with more than 15 airstrikes on Majdal Zoun and Wadi Hassan, as well as intense artillery shelling.
Clashes were reported between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters, involving rocket fire and an explosive drone. The fighting reportedly continued into the night before Israeli forces withdrew from the area.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon‘s Tyre kill six people
Israeli strikes overnight on the historic southern Lebanese city of Tyre, known as Sour in Arabic, killed at least six people, a civil defence source told Middle East Eye on Friday.
One strike near Jabal Amel hospital killed four people, wounded seven others and caused minor damage to the facility, the source said.
A second strike on a residential area killed three people and wounded five, including a child.
