Silvio RodrĂguez: âThe world is run by an authoritarian, warmongering, thieving regime. And itâs not Cubaâ
(March 26, 2026)
The image of a rifle in the hands of a singer-songwriter is strange, but not when the one wielding it is Silvio RodrĂguez, 79. The Cuban singer-songwriter has spent his entire life singing, directly or indirectly, about the Revolution, its leaders and its ideals; about the martyrs and the guerrillas. âThere are politics in my songs, but not propaganda,â says the musician, who receives EL PAĂS on Wednesday at the OjalĂĄ studios in Havana. He speaks of the governmentâs âorthodox and closedâ vision in the economic sphere, and of his commitment to a less ârigidâ socialism. âSocialism by the book is very idealistic,â he concludes. He doesnât budge an inch on his opinion of the United States government: âThe world is run by an authoritarian, warmongering, thieving regime. And itâs not Cuba.â
Roberto Morales Ojeda: âDignity Never Collapsesâ
Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, emphasized on his social media profiles that âdignity never collapses,â recalling critical moments in national history.
The leader noted that neither in the disaster at La Fernandina for National Hero JosĂ© MartĂ, nor at AlegrĂa de PĂo for the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, nor in the October Crisis, was the option of surrender considered. âThe enemyâs dream of seeing the white flag waving above the palm fronds is their true, unfulfilled desire,â he declared.
Morales Ojeda emphasized that this is not about isolated gestures from those who abandon collective resistance, but rather a major surrender that would bring an end to the history of the Cuban peopleâs struggles.
He pointed out that the country is going through difficult times under the impact of the imposed blockade, while the enemy boasts of causing shortages and is betting on the fall of the Revolution to gain political advantages. âHowever, no people has withstood the onslaught of the giant for so long,â he affirmed.
The Secretary of Organization stressed that independence is at stake and that âOnly our sense of patriotism and unity have kept us safe.â âWe will remain here, even if they never see the white flag waving above our palms,â he concluded.
Joint Statement of the Communist Parties of Iran, Israel, and the United States Against the War
The Communist Parties of Iran (Tudeh), Israel (CPI) and the United States (CPUSA) published on Friday, March 6, a joint statement against the war on Iran: âThe war of aggression launched by the Netanyahu criminal government and the United States Imperialism in the early hours of Saturday morning against Iran has ignited a full-scale war and dragged the region and its peoples towards more disasters and civilian casualties â all in the service of imperialist interests, against the interests of peoples, their independence and their right to self-determination in an effort to dominate and control the region and the world.
âThe Trump Administrationâs declaration of its intention to âregime changeâ in a sovereign country in the region and elsewhere in the Latin American continent is a gross trampling on the sovereignty and dignity of peoples and a dismantling of the meaning of the existence of international law and all previously established norms, even if they are not often for the benefit of the peoples, and it is a danger that grows with every war and aggression of the United States and Israel.
âThe experiences of the peoples in Palestine, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Lebanon and in every country in the southern half of the globe facing colonialism and imperialism cannot be overlooked â true liberation and salvation from reactionary and authoritarian regimes and their change can only come with the action of the people and patriotic leadership â not from Washington or Tel Aviv.
Iranian and Israeli Communists Condemn Netanyahuâs War on Iran
Communists in Iran and Israel strongly condemn Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuâs attack on Iran and President Donald Trumpâs backing for it. In a common statement issued Tuesday, June 17, the Tudeh Party of Iran and the Communist Party of Israel said âThe crimes committed by the right wing reactionary government of Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza and the West bank with the support of US Imperialism, the UK and allies in the EU has not only resulted in more than 55,000 Palestinians losing their lives and over 18,000 children being killed but has also given the Israeli government a green light for further aggression against countries of the region, with the aim of redrawing the map of the Middle East in accordance with the strategic goals of US imperialism. This is a government whose leaders have rightly been accused of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court.â
âWhile we are witnessing war and destruction in Iran and Israel, we also warn against the exploitation of the situation to intensify and continue the inhumane suffering and oppression of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. We call upon the international community to take real and concrete actions to prevent further disaster to the Palestinian people and to the peoples of the region.
âRecognize a Palestinian state now! End the genocide in Gaza. Only imperialism, its client forces, reactionaries, and the ruling dictatorship benefit from tensions and war.
âIsrael and the US â after Iraq, Libya and Syria â are now determined to undermine Iranian sovereignty and will not stop until all regimes in the region are coerced under the same project of imperialism and hegemony in the Middle East that aims at subjugating the peopleâs will and their right to self-determination.
âWe express our fundamental opposition to all nuclear armament programs in the Middle East and worldwide. The road to stop the nuclear race in the Middle East does not pass through an aggressive war on Iran but rather goes via demilitarization of the entire region of nuclear weapons, and the signing up of all its countries, including Israel, to a non-proliferation of nuclear weapons treaty.
âWe call upon on all progressive and freedom-loving forces in Israel, Iran, and the world to unite in condemning this blatant and brutal violation of international law and to focus all efforts on prevention of a far-reaching, destructive military conflict and the establishment of peace in the Middle East.
âThe global public must go beyond mere concern expressed by the UN Secretary-General over Israelâs attack on Iran. All international mechanisms available through the United Nations and its Security Council must be used to stop the region from plunging into a catastrophic far-reaching war.â
Jeremy Corbyn and KKE Delegation Meets Hadash MK Ofer Cassif
British political leader Jeremy Corbyn welcomed today, Saturday, November 23, Hadash MK Ofer Cassif at the Peace & Justice Project office in London. âDr Cassif was suspended from the Knesset for speaking out against the genocide in Gaza. We need more brave voices like his to bring about justice for the Palestinians,â said Corbyn to journalists.
On Friday, a delegation from the International Relations Section of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) met with Cassif, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Israel, during his brief stay in Athens.
The Pol Pot regimeâs simultaneous war against Vietnam and genocide of Cambodiaâs ethnic Vietnamese minority
This article examines the international context of and empirical evidence for the genocide of Cambodiaâs domestic ethnic Vietnamese minority in the years 1977 and 1978. It sets out the basis for the scholarly consensus that the state of Democratic Kampuchea (DK), ruled by the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK, or âKhmer Rougeâ), launched a war against neighboring Vietnam beginning in early 1977 with a series of cross-border attacks. The article then examines the evidence for the simultaneous CPK campaign of near-total mass murder of the approximately 20,000 members of the domestic ethnic Vietnamese community remaining in the country after the killings and forcible expulsions under both the previous regime and the CPK from 1970 to 1976. The article then surveys the CPKâs ethnic policies towards the countryâs Vietnamese, Cham, and Chinese minorities, and demonstrates how racist policies often merely masqueraded as class analysis. It concludes with a description of the international legal concepts of both genocide and the crime against humanity of extermination, showing how each applies to crimes the DK regime perpetrated against Cambodiaâs ethnic Vietnamese minority.

2. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger discusses the Khmer Rouge regime with Thailandâs Foreign Minister Chatichai, November 26, 1975
Kissinger: âYou should also tell the Cambodians that we will be friends with them. They are murderous thugs, but we wonât let that stand in our way. We are prepared to improve relations with them.â

4. Former US National Security Adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, on China and the Khmer Rouge, 1979:
âI encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot. Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him, but China could.â According to Brzezinski, the USA âwinked, semi-publiclyâ at Chinese and Thai aid to the Khmer Rouge.
BBC-Filmreihe âThe Trapâ (III): Die Freiheit von Berlin oder Der âKampf der Zivilisationenâ
(18. November 2012)
DafĂŒr sorgten die U.S.A..
Oktober 2012, in Peking.
Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia: TRANSCRIPT OF PROCEEDINGS – âDUCHâ TRIAL PUBLIC
(6 April 2009, 0910H)
Q. Still in the political context — of course, we will go back to your detention, speak about your detention a bit later, but you also spoke about the coup d‘etat of 1970, so a coup d‘etat through which Sihanouk was deposed and a republican regime that was set up by Lon Nol was installed.
Can you tell us, you were — can you tell us how this was perceived? In particular, how the declaration of March 1970 was perceived through which Prince Sihanouk asked the Cambodian people to rise up? I‘d like to understand how the CPK, Communist Party of Kampuchea, experienced this period and was there a real union? What happened, in fact?
[10:19:40]
A. Judge Lavergne, I would like to respond to your question based on my political view. Samdech Norodom Sihanouk was the Head of State of Cambodia. His position was the populist to preserve his throne. It was not Norodom Sihanouk. Lon Nol was
Page 28
affiliated with the United States, and when he grasped or controlled the Assembly in 1966, he managed to — he really caused the dispute and the uprising in Samlaut at the Sihanoukist side, and the other side is the Communist side which are affiliated with Marxist and Leninist, and these things were mixed up.
I think through my understanding, if Richard Nixon did not be quick to allow Lon Nol to start the coup d‘etat and allowing Khmer Rouge to cooperate with Sihanouk, I think Khmer Rouge would be demolished or otherwise they would never be able to stand up again. But Mr. Kissinger and Richard Nixon weren‘t quick and the Khmer Rouge noted the golden opportunity and King Sihanouk declare from China that all Cambodian people go through the Marxist jungle and then the Khmer Rouge troop will build up from 1970 to 1975.
I think this is the political context and people tried to gain — to have political gain. Lon Nol tried to benefit from politics and then Sihanouk also tried to gain benefit for his side.
Khmer Rouge jailer says U.S. contributed to Pol Pot rise
(April 6, 2009)
Duch, the first of five Pol Pot cadres to face trial for the 1975-79 reign of terror in which 1.7 million Cambodians died, said the Khmer Rouge would have faded if the U.S. had not got involved in Cambodia.
„Mr Richard Nixon and Kissinger allowed the Khmer Rouge to grasp golden opportunities,“ the 66-year-old former jailer said at the start of the second week of his trial by the joint U.N.-Cambodian tribunal.
Henry Kissingerâs bombing campaign likely killed hundreds of thousands of Cambodians â and set path for the ravages of the Khmer Rouge
(November 30, 2023)
To Kissinger, Cambodia was a âsideshow,â to use the title of William Shawcrossâ damning book exposing the story of Americaâs secret war with Cambodia from 1969 to 1973.
During that period, the U.S. bombing of neutral Cambodia saw an estimated 500,000 tons âof ordnance dropped on 113,716 targets in the country.
Kissinger and others in the White House tried to keep the campaign from the public for as long as they could, for good reason. It came as public opinion in the U.S. was turning against American involvement. The bombing campaign is also considered illegal under international law by many experts.
But to Kissinger, the ends â containing communism â seemingly justified the means, no matter the cost. And the cost to Cambodians was huge.
It resulted in the direct deaths of hundreds of thousands of Cambodians. With the U.S. government keeping the bombings secret at the time, comprehensive data and documentation are limited. But estimates on the number of deaths range from as few as 24,000 to as many as a million.
The US war machine just bombed 85 locations in Iraq and Syria â and Biden is promising more. Biden is driving us deeper and deeper into a regional war through escalations. What we need is not only a ceasefire in Gaza, but all U.S. troops OUT of the Middle East immediately!

Joint Soviet-Nazi military parade in Poland. The history of Russian aggression.
The Battle of Brest-Litovsk took place between 14 and 17 September 1939. After three days of heavy fights for the stronghold in the town of BrzeĆÄ, the Germans captured the fortress and the Poles withdrew. According to the terms of the 1939 German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact the territory around Brest as well as 52% of the then Poland was assigned to the Soviet Union. The Soviet 29th tank brigade under Brigadier Semyon Krivoshein reached the area of BrzeĆÄ on September 21st and took over the fortress from the Wehrmacht. During that event a joint German-Soviet parade was held in the town, after which the German forces left the area. The XIX motorized Corps of Wehrmacht and the 29th Tank Brigade of the Red Army participated in the parade.

Putin Says Poland, Western Leaders Cooperated With Hitler
Putin cast the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty as a move the Soviet Union was forced into following nonaggression agreements some other European nations had signed with Hitler.
He cited a 1938 agreement reached by Germany, Britain, France and Italy that allowed Hitler to annex Czechoslovakia as an example of Western leadersâ alleged âcollusionâ with Hitler.

Hadash MK Ofer Cassif: Netanyahu Deliberately Leading Israel to War
Hadash MK Ofer Cassif placed responsibility for the escalation of violence between Israel and Hezbollah on Sunday, September 1, at the doorstep of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him âthe serial criminal from Balfour Street.â
Cassif said âNetanyahu and his servants are responsibleâ for the recent clash, adding they mean to âoccupy the seat of power with blood and to ensure the criminal [Netanyahu] will escape prison.â
Joint List leader, MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash) agreed saying, âWe will not be silent when the cannons roarâ and warned that a further war âwill not bring security, only death, destruction and victims on both sides.â
