Tens of Thousands Rally in Havana Against US Aggression as Cuba Prepares Citizens for War
âThis new aggression has united us more and elevated the honor, dignity, and anti-imperialist spirit of a people already recognized around the world for their brave resistance to any form of subordination to the empire,â DĂaz-Canel said.
Cuban legislator Mariela Castro, RaĂșlâs granddaughter, told rallygoers that âwe are prepared for combat.â
âNo one is going to kidnap him. I can assure you of that,â she said, alluding to the US invasion and abduction of Venezuelan President NicolĂĄs Maduro on dubious narco-terrorism charges earlier this year. âNeither him nor anyone else.â

Silvio RodrĂguez: âThe world is run by an authoritarian, warmongering, thieving regime. And itâs not Cubaâ
(March 26, 2026)
The image of a rifle in the hands of a singer-songwriter is strange, but not when the one wielding it is Silvio RodrĂguez, 79. The Cuban singer-songwriter has spent his entire life singing, directly or indirectly, about the Revolution, its leaders and its ideals; about the martyrs and the guerrillas. âThere are politics in my songs, but not propaganda,â says the musician, who receives EL PAĂS on Wednesday at the OjalĂĄ studios in Havana. He speaks of the governmentâs âorthodox and closedâ vision in the economic sphere, and of his commitment to a less ârigidâ socialism. âSocialism by the book is very idealistic,â he concludes. He doesnât budge an inch on his opinion of the United States government: âThe world is run by an authoritarian, warmongering, thieving regime. And itâs not Cuba.â
More than 32,000 pregnant women at risk due to fuel blockade against Cuba
According to official data, energy supply restrictions are primarily affecting the Maternal and Child Health Program, limiting pregnant womenâs access to obstetric ultrasounds for fetal monitoring and genetic testing, essential for the timely diagnosis of malformations and complications.
The fuel shortage is also hindering the mobilization of medical teams responsible for evaluating cases of extremely severe maternal morbidity and critical newborns, in addition to causing delays in childhood vaccination schedules.
Health authorities indicated that these disruptions could significantly impact the 61,830 children under one year old who require special care during their first stage of life. Furthermore, care for children with specific needs, such as home ventilation, mechanical suction, and air conditioning, is jeopardized due to the unstable electricity supply and the limited availability of ambulances for urgent and emergency situations.
Massive Fire Breaks Out at Cuba‘s Largest Oil Refinery as Island Faces Deepening Energy Crisis
(February 13, 2026)
Just a day earlier, two Mexican navy vessels docked at the same harbor carrying more than 800 tons of humanitarian aid, including fuel and essential supplies, underscoring the urgency of Cuba‘s shortfalls. The aid mission arrives as the Caribbean nation of nearly 10 million faces not only economic hardship but also continuing pressure from the longstanding US trade embargo.

Facts attesting to the above are the economic blockade against Venezuela and Cuba, destabilization attempts âââââââagainst leftist governments, criminalization of protest in Chile, the murder of social leaders in Colombia, and the coup d‘etat against Bolivia‘s President Evo Morales, which was supported by the U.S.-controlled Organization of American States (OAS).
