“Israel’s decision to bar your entry to the country is both outrageous and predictable. Alongside the genocidal war in Gaza, we in Israel have witnessed, over the past 18 months, a rapid descent into dictatorship and fascism,” said Hadash MK Aida Touma-Sliman in a letter sent Monday, April 21, to French lawmakers.
“The politicians targeted are consistently from the political left, known for advocating for the rights of Palestinians as well as Israelis. I was about to meet with them during the visit and update them about the dangerous processes in Israel today.”

Israel‘s government cancelled visas for 27 French left-wing lawmakers and local officials two days before they were to start a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Sunday, the group said.

Die linke Partei La France Insoumise (LFI) hat bereits angekündigt, ein solches Votum zu beantragen. Sollte eine Mehrheit der Abgeordneten der Regierung das Vertrauen entziehen, wäre auch der Haushalt durchgefallen.
Dies gilt jedoch als unwahrscheinlich, da die Sozialisten sich hinter die Mitte-Rechts-Regierung stellen wollen: kein einziger Abgeordneter wolle für den Antrag der LFI stimmen, hieß es in der Fraktion der Sozialisten.

Protestors in France Saturday demonstrated for a seventh day against President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reform plan, which has been widely disputed across the country since his announcement of the plan in January.
According to the Confederation of Labor (CGT), a national federation of French trade unions, hundreds of thousands of employees, young people, and retirees went on strike and protested in the streets of French cities Friday against Macron’s plan.

In a country as complex, large and diverse as theirs, a political system designed to concentrate authority in the hands of a single head of state maybe isn’t the best way of reflecting popular will. And perhaps, after 64 years, it’s time to try something new.
Abschied von der absoluten Mehrheit?
Dass es überhaupt so weit kommen könnte, ist dem links-außen Politiker Jean-Luc Mélenchon geschuldet. Mit dem links-grünen Wahlbündnis Nupes aus seiner Partei La France Insoumise, den Grünen, Sozialisten und Kommunisten hat er ein Gegengewicht zu Macrons Mitte geschaffen und einen extrem linken Gegenentwurf zur sozialliberalen Politik des Präsidenten präsentiert.
Französische Parlamentswahl in Endrunde
Das neue linke Bündnis aus Linkspartei, Sozialisten, Grünen und Kommunisten, angeführt von Linkspolitiker Jean-Luc Melenchon, kann auf deutlich mehr Sitze im Parlament hoffen. Sollte das Mitte-Lager des Präsidenten nur eine relative Mehrheit erreichen, wären der Präsident und die Regierung gezwungen, Unterstützung aus den anderen Lagern zu suchen.
