Das gegenwärtige Parlament hatten die Serben im April des Vorjahres gewählt. Die nationalistische Präsidentenpartei SNS hat darin zusammen mit Verbündeten eine komfortable Mehrheit.
Vorgezogene Neuwahlen sind in Serbien häufig. Vucic regiert mit autoritären Methoden. Medien, Justiz und Verwaltung sind zum Großteil in Händen von Gefolgsleuten des Präsidenten, der auch SNS-Vorsitzender ist.
Serbia has denied reports of a military build-up along the border with Kosovo, alleging a “campaign of lies” against his country in the wake of a shootout a week earlier that killed four people and fuelled tensions in the volatile Balkan region.
“A campaign of lies … has been launched against our Serbia,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday.
Der serbische Präsident bestimmt seit 2012 in verschiedenen Funktionen die Geschicke des Landes. Kritiker werfen ihm einen autoritären Regierungsstil vor. Vucic und seine Gefolgsleute kontrollieren die meisten Medien, die Justiz und einen Teil der Wirtschaft.
Zwei Amokläufe mit 18 Toten hatten zu Monatsbeginn die serbische Gesellschaft erschüttert.
Die Serben hatten die Bürgermeisterwahlen im April boykottiert. Die Wahlbeteiligung lag deshalb nur bei 3,5 Prozent. Die Wahlen fanden in Gemeinden im Norden des Kosovos statt, in denen größtenteils ethnische Serben leben. Sie fordern Autonomie und weigern sich, mit den neuen, vier albanischen Bürgermeistern zusammenzuarbeiten.
Der serbische Präsident Aleksandar Vucic teilte dem staatlichen Sender RTS zufolge mit, er habe wegen der Zusammenstöße das serbische Militär in erhöhte Alarmbereitschaft versetzt. Zudem lasse er Soldaten an die Grenze zum Kosovo verlegen.
“I believe that our friends from Skopje and Tirana deserve the start of EU talks and I believe this should happen as soon as possible, which is not a matter of request, because both countries have done everything that was asked of them,” Vucic added.
He thanked Kovacevski and Rama for their “understanding” for Serbia’s unique position in its relations to Russia and for it not aligning with the EU on sanctions against Moscow over the war in Ukraine.

Sinisa Mali, the current finance minister and former mayor of Belgrade, is mentioned first as a possible candidate. He is one of Aleksandar Vučić’s closest associates and has been involved in several scandals – from the destruction of the Savamala quarter in Belgrade to allegedly owning 24 apartments in Bulgaria. The University of Belgrade stripped him of his doctorate after it was confirmed that he had plagiarized his thesis.
According to European intelligence, Nikola Selaković, current Minister of Foreign Affairs, also has a chance to become the new PM. He is also a loyal associate of Aleksandar Vučić…
„Scholz has brought new energy and new hope. He wants to hear everyone in the Western Balkans and wants real prospects for EU expansion which is an important, excellent message for everyone in the Western Balkans. We also talked about the fact that Serbia must progress much faster in terms of the rule of law, democracy…“, he said.
Viel Unmut erregt auch der Bau von Kleinkraftwerken an bisher naturbelassenen Gewässern. Den Umweltschützern zufolge ziehen diese Projekte schwere ökologische Schäden nach sich. Sie würden lediglich den Geschäftsinteressen lokaler politischer Eliten dienen, meinen sie.
Europaweit sind bei Corona-Demonstrationen Tausende Menschen auf die Straße gegangen. Viele Regierungen hatten die Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung der Pandemie angesichts einer dritten Infektionswelle zuletzt noch einmal verschärft – zum Unmut vieler Bürger.

Erneut hat es in Serbien gewaltsame Proteste gegen die Corona-Maßnahmen von Präsident Vucic gegeben. Am Abend drang eine Gruppe von Demonstranten in das Parlamentsgebäude ein.

He also said that „the experts were idealized, the famous phrase ‚that‘s what the officials say‘ was used as a taboo, as if God himself had ordained it.“
He pressed ahead with a controversial general election on June 21 that most opposition parties had long planned to boycott, saying they did not want to legitimize a process that they feel is gamed in Mr. Vucic’s favor.
And to Mr. Vucic’s critics, his decision first to ease restrictions ahead of a vote that was certain to increase his power — and then reinstate them soon after — felt like he was playing politics with public health.

The President of Serbia Aleksandar Cucic called on the demonstrators for stopping the attending anti-government protests in order to halt the further spreading of the coronavirus or COVID-19 infections.
Vučić did „win“ overwhelming majority of 60.71% of the parliament, but that was only 21% of the popular vote, as the elections were laregely boycoted.

Bei Protesten gegen eine geplante neue Coronavirus-Ausgangssperre in Serbien ist es zu Ausschreitungen gekommen. Demonstrierende warfen gestern Abend in Belgrad Steine auf Polizistinnen und Polizisten und feuerten Leuchtraketen ab, wie Fernsehbilder zeigten. Eine Gruppe Demonstrierender stürmte das Parlamentsgebäude.

WASHINGTON — The director of the CIA disclosed Thursday that the agency had selected just one target in the 11-week air war over Yugoslavia, and its decision led to the accidental bombing of the Chinese embassy in May.
„It was the only target we nominated,“ the director, George Tenet, said at a rare public hearing of the House Intelligence Committee.

The C-I-A has revealed it had accurate maps and some agency employees knew the correct location of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade mistakenly bombed in May during NATO‘s air campaign against Yugoslavia.
The C-I-A Director George Tenet made the announcement on Thursday while testifying before the House Intelligence Committee in Washington D-C.

At least two cruise missiles struck the building believed to belong to Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic‘s ruling Socialist Party, CNN‘s Brent Sadler reported from the scene.
Flames were pouring out of the upper floors of the building, which is about 15 stories tall, and the ground level was also engulfed in fire.

In the US-NATO assault on Yugoslavia, accusations of genocide in Kosovo play the same role in the propaganda war as cruise missiles and cluster bombs in the air war. The claims that Serbian troops and paramilitary forces are slaughtering thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of Kosovar Albanians, the comparisons of Slobodan Milosevic to Adolf Hitler, the invocation of the Holocaust–all these serve as weapons, if not to convince, at least to intimidate public opinion.
The purpose of this propaganda, whose tone has been set by the White House, is to block any critical thought or even serious reflection on the part of the American people about the mushrooming conflict in the Balkans.
Hinzu kommt, dass die handelspolitische Fixierung der Westbalkanstaaten auf die EU mit höchst ungleichen Beziehungen verknüpft ist; so haben die betreffenden Länder von 2008 bis 2018 ein Handelsdefizit von rund 100 Milliarden Euro gegenüber der Union angehäuft.

Serbs have never in their history attacked or otherwise imperiled any NATO member country – nor did the Republic of Srpska present any threat to world peace and safety as it has been presented by Western media and self-proclaimed experts at the time i.e. in decades of satanization of Serbs as a people.The real explanation is that after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Warsaw pact NATO set its new goal i.e., to spread to the East. This is how NATO transformed itself into a political expansionist organization.

Zwar untersage die Menschenrechtskonvention eine lebenslange Freiheitsstrafe nicht, doch müsse im Gesetz auch die Möglichkeit auf Freilassung von Verurteilten und Berufung gegen das Urteil bestehen, meinte sie. Auch in serbischen Juristenkreisen wurde der Gesetzesentwurf aus denselben Gründen heftig kritisiert.
Macrons Gegenwehr gegen die deutsche Dominanz betrifft nicht nur die Europa-, sondern auch die klassische Außenpolitik. So hat die französische Regierung am 30. April eine neue Südosteuropastrategie angekündigt, die neue Aktivitäten vor allem in den sechs Ländern der Region, die nicht der EU angehören [4], mit sich bringen soll. Vorgesehen ist nicht nur der Ausbau der politischen, sondern auch der ökonomischen Beziehungen; Paris stellt unter anderem Entwicklungsmittel in Höhe von zunächst 100 bis 150 Millionen Euro bereit. Vor allem die Militärkooperation soll intensiviert werden: Geplant ist neben einer verstärkten Ausbildung südosteuropäischer Offiziere in Frankreich auch eine zunehmende Einbindung von Soldaten der Region in französische Militäreinsätze. Bereits im Februar unterschrieb die damalige französische Europaministerin Nathalie Loiseaux bei einem Besuch in Serbien detaillierte Vereinbarungen zur engeren wirtschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit.
Zum 20. Jahrestag des NATO-Angriffskrieges gegen Jugoslawien hielten sich die deutschen Medien von Taz bis FAZ, die den Bombardements 1999 noch Beifall zollten, an den von John Cleese 1975 einem britischen Hotelier in den Mund gelegten Grundsatz gegenüber deutschen Gästen: »Bitte den Krieg nicht erwähnen.«
Bereits 1991/92 wurde das Völkerrecht, hier das in der UN-Charta und von der UN-Vollversammlung (»Erklärung über die Grundsätze des Völkerrechts betreffend freundschaftliche Beziehungen und Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Staaten im Einklang mit der Charta der Vereinten Nationen«) verbriefte Recht der Souveränität, der territorialen Integrität und des Schutzes vor Einmischung in innere Angelegenheiten, gebrochen. Die diplomatische Anerkennung der jugoslawischen Republiken Slowenien, Kroatien und Bosnien-Herzegowina – nicht das serbische Kosovo – stellt die Zäsur dar.
An den Protesten, die landesweit mittlerweile rund 20 Städte erreicht haben, nehmen auch Oppositionspolitiker und Oppositionspolitikerinnen teil, allerdings haben sie von den Organisatoren bisher nie die Gelegenheit bekommen, sich an die Demonstrierenden zu wenden. Bei der Kundgebung in Belgrad vorige Woche waren die Oppositionsparteien aufgefordert worden, den Demonstranten und Demonstrantinnen ihre Pläne für eine „gesunde Staatsverwaltung“ zu präsentieren.

By withdrawing its decision for recognition of Kosovo as an independent state, Grenada joined the ranks of Suriname, Liberia, Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea-Bissau, Burundi, Papua New Guinea, Lessoto, and Dominica.
Zum Erfolg gebracht haben es lediglich Personen, denen vorgeworfen wird – unter anderem vom Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) -, Köpfe der Organisierten Kriminalität zu sein sowie Verantwortung für schwerste Kriegsverbrechen im Krieg des Jahres 1999 zu tragen…
Dazu haben die kosovarischen Truppen bereits Material und Fahrzeuge von der Bundeswehr erhalten, zuletzt 44 Fahrzeuge des Typs Wolf. Die KSF wiederum führen inzwischen gemeinsame Kriegsübungen mit der NATO durch: Während die Bevölkerung ohne jede Entwicklungsperspektive darbt, gedeiht nach fast 20 Jahren Besatzung auch durch die Bundeswehr lediglich eines – die Militärkooperation.
