As Barbara Lee presciently warned her colleagues before she cast her lone dissenting vote in 2001, we have âbecome the evil we deplore.â But these wars have not been accompanied by fearsome military parades (not yet) or speeches about conquering the world. Instead they have been politically justified by âinformation warfareâ to demonize enemies and fabricate crises, and then waged in a âdisguised, quiet, media freeâ way, to hide their cost in human blood from the American public and the world.
After 16 years of war, about 6 million violent deaths, 6 countries utterly destroyed and many more destabilized, it is urgent that the American public come to terms with the true human cost of our countryâs wars and how we have been manipulated and misled into turning a blind eye to them â before they go on even longer, destroy more countries, further undermine the rule of international law and kill millions more of our fellow human beings.
The U.S. has described the dry and rugged mountains of northern Somalia as the main hub from which ISIS controls its global operations. Amid an increasing number of U.S. drone strikes and raids supporting the Somali government in the war against ISIS, the United States is now expanding its presence in the port city of Bosaso and effectively building a new military base, which will be used for combat and surveillance operations targeting âterror groupsâ in the region as well enhancing maritime security, according to Somali security officials in Puntland. The CIA will also expand its operations there, the officials said.
Heâs launched strikes in seven countries so far this term â Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen â after also attacking some of those countries in his first term. That doesnât even count the strikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, which have targeted nearly 60 vessels and killed more than 190 people.
He has also threatened or left open the possibility of strikes against seven others this term: Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Greenland (which is part of Denmark), Mexico, Panama and now Oman. He also threatened Mexico and North Korea in his first term.

In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, attacks, President George W Bush launched what he called a âwar on terrorâ, a global military campaign that reshaped US foreign policy and triggered wars, invasions and air strikes across numerous countries.
According to an analysis by Brown Universityâs Watson Institute of International & Public Affairs, US-led wars since 2001 have directly caused the deaths of about 940,000 people across Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and other conflict zones

Epstein was keen to profit from armed conflicts on the African continent. While negotiating DP Worldâs access to Nigeria, he was also helping Zeitlin navigate around U.S. sanctions on Ivan Glasenberg, the Israeli-South African CEO of mining giant Glencore, and Oleg Deripaska, then-chairman of the Russian aluminum titan Rusal. Glencoreâs operations had been disrupted by a fraud probe into their dealings with Israeli mining kingpin Dan Gertler in Congo-Kinshasa. âDo you know Oleg Deripaska or Ivan Glasenberg?â Zeitlin asked Epstein. âEasy,â Epstein replied.
The American financier had deep ties to Israeli mining and military outfits in Africa, which he helped support alongside former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barakâa close associate with whom Epstein corresponded almost daily. âWith civil unrest exploding in ukraine syria, somolia, libya, and the desperation of those in power,â Epstein wrote in a 2014 email to Barak, âisnât this perfect for you.â Barak replied, âYouâre right [in] a way. But not simple to transform it into a cash flow.â
According to a report from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) released earlier this year, Trump launched nearly as many airstrikes in just his first five months in office as President Biden did during his entire four-year term.
If Trumpâs claims of a Christmas Eve attack on Venezuela and reports that it was a CIA drone strike are true, the US has bombed seven countries this year, on top of the airstrikes targeting alleged drug boats in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Minnesota is drowning in fraud. Billions in taxpayer dollars have been stolen during the administration of Governor Tim Walz alone. Democratic state officials, overseeing one of the most generous welfare regimes in the country, are asleep at the switch. And the media, duty-bound by progressive pieties, refuse to connect the dots.
In many cases, the fraud has allegedly been perpetrated by members of Minnesotaâs sizeable Somali community. Federal counterterrorism sources confirm that millions of dollars in stolen funds have been sent back to Somalia, where they ultimately landed in the hands of the terror group Al-Shabaab. As one confidential source put it: âThe largest funder of Al-Shabaab is the Minnesota taxpayer.â

Was passierte nun?
„The UN Security Council will convene on Monday for an urgent session following Israel‘s recognition of the Republic of Somaliland,“ Israel‘s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said on US social media company X Saturday.
„We will not shy away from political discussions,“ he added.
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 amid a descent into conflict and, despite having its own government and currency, had never been recognized by any nation in the world until Friday.
The African Union Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, said any attempt to undermine Somaliaâs sovereignty risks peace and stability on the continent.
Israelâs recognition of Somaliland as an independent country has triggered instant reaction from TĂŒrkiye and Saudi Arabia.
In a brief statement the Foreign Affairs Ministries of both countries issued hours after Israel became the first country to recognize the independence of Somaliland, they said the recognition is âunlawful.â
The sharp rebuke came a day after Israel became the first nation in the world to formally recognise Somaliland, triggering swift condemnation across African and Arab nations, and raising concerns about whether the move was part of an alleged Israeli plan to forcibly displace Palestinians.
Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 following a brutal civil war but has never secured recognition from any United Nations member state. The self-declared republic has established its own currency, flag and parliament, though its eastern territories remain disputed.
It wasn‘t known why Israel made the declaration now or whether it was expecting something in return.
Earlier this year, U.S. and Israeli officials told The Associated Press that Israel had approached Somaliland about taking in Palestinians from Gaza as part of Donald Trumpâs plan at the time to resettle that territoryâs population.

In 2007, former Nato commander Wesley Clark recounted a meeting at the Pentagon shortly after the US invasion of Afghanistan. An officer told him: âWe are going to attack and destroy the governments in seven countries in five years. Weâre going to start with Iraq, and then weâre going to move to Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran.â
Clark added of the neoconservatives: âThey wanted us to destabilise the Middle East, turn it upside down, make it under our control.â
As I documented in my 2008 book Israel and the Clash of Civilisations, Israel was supposed to carry out a central chunk of Washingtonâs post-Iraq plan, starting with its war on Lebanon in 2006. Israelâs attack there was supposed to drag in Syria and Iran, giving the US a pretext to expand the war.
This was what the US secretary of state of the time, Condoleezza Rice, meant when she spoke of the âbirth pangs of a new Middle Eastâ.
The plan went awry largely because Israel got bogged down in phase one, in Lebanon. It blitzed cities like Beirut with US-supplied bombs, but its soldiers struggled against Hezbollah in a ground invasion of southern Lebanon.
The West subsequently found other ways to deal with Syria and Libya.

By the end of the meeting, it was clear that this was the resolution, a single sentence and 60 words:
That the President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations or persons.
That was it. After more than a day of negotiations between the White House and Congress, Republicans and Democrats, this is what had emerged. Congress could take it or leave it. There would be no going back to the drawing board.
