(31.1.2019) The participation of the two means there could be some discussions about the Trump administration’s Middle East peace plan
Insisting on thinking outside the box, Jared Kushner pushed Trump to build his Mideast strategy on M.B.S. and the Saudis. Now the West Wing is left with few good options. And some are joking that Kushner is probably going to take off soon for a well-timed vacation.
Saudi Arabia’s powerful crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, was meant to be the linchpin of the plan, providing key diplomatic cover to both Israelis and Palestinians. But with the Saudi prince’s credibility facing serious questions following Khashoggi’s death, US President Donald Trump may soon have to rethink his Mideast strategy.
“It definitely complicates their plans to release their proposal, if indeed they have one,” said Dan Shapiro, who served as former US president Barack Obama’s ambassador to Israel.
(2.8.2018) In recent weeks, the Qatari media has been slamming the Trump administration’s efforts to advance a regional peace plan that has come to be known as the „Deal of the Century.“ Qatari media reports and articles about this plan have described it as serving Israel’s interests while eliminating the Palestinian cause. Furthermore, following reports in the non-Arab media that Saudi Arabia has been involved in formulating this plan, and against the backdrop of the growing crisis between Qatar and the „Arab Quartet“ – i.e. the four countries, led by Saudi Arabia, which have been boycotting Qatar for the last year – the Qatari media has been accusing Saudi Arabia and other Arab regimes of collaborating with the Trump administration and betraying the Palestinians.
(6.8.2018) Arab officials have said any peace proposal has to wait until tensions between Israel and Hamas — the Islamist movement that controls Gaza — ease and Palestinian fury over the US’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital dissipates. A US diplomat said this message had been relayed to the plan’s architects, Jared Kushner, Mr Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, and Jason Greenblatt, the Middle East peace envoy.
An anonymous high-level Israel intel source was quoted in the Israeli media Aug. 7 as saying that the renewed US sanctions imposed this week on Iran “will bring Iran to its knees.’’ The source also argued that chances are good that the country will be forced to return to the negotiating table with the six world powers that cut the nuclear agreement and agree to a modification and to limitations on its continued expansion in the Middle East.
Sources outside the administration who are involved in the discussions over the plan told Haaretz that the Trump peace team believes their plan could be the first one ever to receive a positive answer from both Israel and major Arab countries, regardless of the Palestinian position.
The Israel-lobbyists, Netanyahu cronies, psyops manipulators and well-connected oligarchs — could it all be just one big coincidence?
(6.4.2018) George Nader, a convicted child molester and adviser to the UAE’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan – often called MBZ – who attended the Seychelles gathering, has reportedly testified to a grand jury that Dmitriev met Prince in Seychelles.
The testimony came in relation to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between Trump’s election campaign team and Russian officials.
(10.4.2018) That’s big because Nader helped organize, and attended, that curious Seychelles meeting on January 11, 2017, shortly before Trump’s inauguration. The meeting brought together Erik Prince, Trump donor and founder of the private security company Blackwater, with Kirill Dmitriev, who manages a Russian sovereign wealth fund and is thought to be close to Vladimir Putin.
President Trump himself, in a video message, pledged his commitment to a “lasting peace agreement.”
His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, said “peace is within reach.”
And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared it “a great day for peace.”
Because nothing says “peace” like 58 Palestinians killed, 2,700 wounded, renewed hostilities between Iran and Israel, the entire region aflame and U.S. allies reeling.
