‘More Performative Killing at Sea’: Another Trump Boat Strike Leaves 4 Dead

Citing a federal memo that it aims to keep concealed from the public, the Trump administration claims to be at war with drug cartels and that the killings in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean are justified. Legal experts and human rights advocates argue the bombings are at least war crimes, if not outright murder.

Sunday’s strike was the administration’s first confirmed boat bombing since Ben Saul, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights and counterterrorism, said last month that even if the targeted vessels were engaged in drug trafficking, there are no “international legal rights to unilaterally use military force” to counter cartels.

Spain calls snap election as housing protests spread nationwide

“More than three years ago, voters chose to place their trust once again in a progressive coalition government,” he said in the address on Monday. “We have had to deal with unprecedented emergencies and navigate an extremely difficult international environment. We have had to work with a highly confrontational Congress. We have had to take on very powerful elites that do not stand for election but want to control our country. And we have faced the worst opposition in history, one that blocks policies that are good for the country and sabotages them from the regions.”

(May 9, 2025)

(October 1, 2026)

Wuest and officials who work with him have repeatedly denied he has any interest in replacing Merz under current circumstances.

Germany‘s political center fights for relevance after far-right and far-left gains

(October 2, 2026)

Berlin‘s markets brim with the rich pickings of harvest. Picking up her weekly shopping, pensioner Ute Istock quips that the choice of apple varieties is as broad as that of candidates on the ballot sheets in last month‘s city election — adding that this is not necessarily a good thing.

„Voting has become tricky,“ Istock admits. „It‘s no longer clear how a party will end up governing effectively because there are too many parties and forming viable majorities is becoming impossible.
