Britain‘s ‚scientific‘ Covid response is locked in a dangerous lie

This nonsensical concept has proved useful for responsibility-shirking politicians. But the myth of officially-approved scientific truth is not only cynical but dangerous.

It is the main reason why No 10 can’t ditch its most disastrous policy, the two-metre rule. As the Government has spent months pretending to prostrate to the wisdom of Sir Patrick Vallance and Chris Whitty, who have both championed two metres, No 10 has found it impossible to quietly drop the moronic regulation: while it dithers over a time-wasting review of the decision, false rumours have even swirled that its two chief scientific advisers could resign in protest.

The UK follows Germany, Italy and Denmark among others in switching from a so-called „centralised“ approach to a „decentralised“ one.

The REAL reason Boris Johnson is so fearful of ditching two-metre rule: Doom-monger advisers led by grim private polls, and the terror of being blamed for a new spike are paralysing the PM, write ANDREW PIERCE and RICHARD KAY

If Boris is to rediscover the vim and vigour that brought him into Downing Street then the role of the new committee examining the distancing rule is crucial. It is being chaired by a civil servant, Simon Case, the new permanent secretary at No 10, who until a month ago was working for Prince William.

A former private secretary to both David Cameron and Theresa May and a one-time director of strategy at GCHQ, Mr Case was brought in to coordinate the Government’s pandemic response – a sure sign that it had not been working well.

Lionel Shriver talks to Allison Pearson: ‚The British people have never more profoundly disappointed me‘

Speaking to The Telegraph‘s Planet Normal podcast – which you can listen to on the audio player above – Shriver told podcast host and Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson she was „dismayed“ with the way Britons have stayed at home without questioning government strategy.

„The British people have never more profoundly disappointed me. It seems so un-British to say, alright then I’ll just roll over and I’ll stay home. I think part of it was being able to feed into the Blitz narrative,“ she said. „The bizarre attachment to being confined to your homes and not making a living and relying on the government…I’m just dismayed.“

Apparent nooses found hanging from trees at Oakland lake spur debate, hate-crime probe

But later on Wednesday, the Oakland Police Department issued a statement suggesting that the five apparent nooses discovered near Lake Merritt could be part of an exercise routine or equipment.

Some neighbors expressed skepticism at that suggestion, and Schaaf noted that even if they were used for that purpose, it did not “remove nor excuse their tortuous and terrorizing effects.”

Editorial: Two Black men hanging from trees in Southern California? Leave no stone unturned investigating

The body of 24-year-old Robert Fuller was found June 10 in a tree near Palmdale City Hall. Officials quickly labeled it a suicide, but protesters to their credit immediately demanded a deeper investigation. So did Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.

How likely is it that a man would hang himself from a tree? It is not unheard of, but it is hardly reassuring to note that two weeks earlier the body of 38-year-old Malcolm Harsch was found hanging from a tree in Victorville, a desert city at the opposite end of the storied Pearblossom Highway from Palmdale.

Press Release on Disinformation Campaign Regarding the Role of the OAS in the Bolivian Elections

In other words, the statistical study conducted by the OAS did not seek to validate or challenge the results, but rather to identify abnormal or suspicious behavior in the trends, in order to guide the work of the other audit teams, which found incontrovertible evidence of manipulation of the election: secret computer servers with the capacity to modify the results, and adulterated tally sheets. Therefore, the General Secretariat of the OAS continues to stand behind the statistical analysis carried out, understanding that its usefulness was only of an instrumental nature within the overall review of the elections.

Once he fled, Bolivia’s first-ever president from the country’s Indigenous population was replaced by a little-known, white, far-right senator, Jeanine Áñez, from the country’s minority European-descendent, Christian, wealthy region. Her new, unelected government promptly massacred dozens of Indigenous protesters and then vested the responsible soldiers with immunity. Seven months later, Áñez predictably continues to rule Bolivia as “interim president” despite never having run for president, let alone having been democratically elected.

Willkie Sues Defense Agencies For Info On Taliban Payments

(yesterday)

International law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has sued U.S. defense agencies for records of protection payments that government contractors in Afghanistan allegedly made to the Taliban, saying the agencies have failed to hand over the requested documents.

In five separate lawsuits filed in a D.C. federal court Tuesday, Willkie accuses the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, the Defense Contract Management Agency, the Drug Enforcement Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency of failing to fulfill the firm‘s Freedom Of Information Act requests for documents that allegedly show eight Afghanistan reconstruction companies paid the …

Besatzungsmächte bezahlen „Taliban“: der Gespenster-Krieg entlarvt sich.

(22. Oktober 2009)

Afghanistan: Der unsichtbare Krieg
