Starmer under pressure, as Labour suffers heavy elections losses

The results in England, Scotland and Wales have piled pressure on Sir Keir, with some Labour MPs calling for him to set a timetable for his departure, although his cabinet allies have backed him for now.

Labour has lost power in Wales, ending its 27 year-long rule, while the SNP appears likely to remain the largest party in Scotland.

Reform UK has been the big winner in England, picking up more than 1,400 seats and taking control of councils in areas where Labour and the Conservatives have been historically dominant.

Zack Polanski calls for end to ‘special relationship’ as he brands US ‘rogue state’ after Iran strikes

As news of the military action broke, the 43-year-old London Assembly member wrote on social media: „This is an illegal, unprovoked and brutal attack that shows once again that the USA and Israel are rogue states.“

„The UK must end our cosy relationship with the USA and our ongoing support for Israel.

He added: „There is only one nuclear armed state in the Middle East. It is Israel.“

Green Party Leader Polanski Criticises UK for Not Condemning Trump’s Attack on Iran

(March 1, 2026)

Green Party leader Zack Polanski has condemned the recent US military strikes on Iran, calling them ‘illegal and unprovoked’. The strikes, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have led to retaliatory missile attacks across the Middle East. Polanski argued that international law is eroding and criticised the UK government’s failure to condemn America’s actions. He called for the UK to sever ties with the US over these military actions and urged Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to take a stronger stance in supporting international law and de-escalation.

Chris Mason: Labour sticks with Starmer for now but this is not over

If Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar‘s desire to dislodge Sir Keir Starmer had had public accomplices, that could have been it.

There was a crucial pivot point on Monday afternoon when things could have gone in one of two ways.

If others had said Sir Keir should go, he might not have got to the end of the day without announcing his departure.

But instead, there was a rallying of support from the cabinet and from various wings of the Labour Party.

Getting Your Party Back on Track

Getting Your Party back on track means campaigning tirelessly on the issues that matter most to people, from the cost-of-living to opposing racism and war.

But it also means empowering Your Party members to organise most effectively and make decisions collectively. For that, we need iron-clad democratic commitments that ensure all members can play their full part — not democratic posturing behind which small sects seek outsized influence.

So here are The Many’s six priorities to build a truly member-led party:

1. Set Up Official Branches — so all members can get organised.

2. Defend OMOV — so all members get to decide, not the sects.

3. Establish Members’ Policy Commissions — so policies are shaped by the people they will affect.

4. Review the Finances and Data — so all members can have trust, nothing off limits.

5. Organise the Liberation Sections — so members from every background are empowered.

6. Report Back Monthly — so the collective leadership is accountable to all members, not just itself.

Anas Sarwar calls for Keir Starmer to quit as Prime Minister

The Scottish Labour leader made the intervention in a press conference in Glasgow this afternoon as he attacked the „failures“ in Downing Street in the wake of revelations surrounding Peter Mandelson‘s links to Jeffrey Epstein and fears over damage the scandal may do to his party‘s chances at the Holyrood elections in May.

He told reporters his first priority is to Scotland and that he did not want to “sacrifice” the country to a third decade of an SNP government.

Inside Scottish Labour as MPs fear Mandelson impact on Holyrood vote

(February 6, 2026)

Now attention is turning to the ramifications of the scandal in Scotland ahead of the Holyrood election in May.

Anas Sarwar could prove another casualty of the spectacular fallout from the collapse of Lord Mandelson’s reputation.

Lord Mandelson’s continued friendship with Epstein has been public knowledge since the Financial Times reported in 2023 that the peer stayed at the convicted paedophile’s home in Manhattan in 2009, while he was in prison for child sex offences.
