Beyond Westminster’s chaos, a new grassroots left is taking shape

A flavour of what may be its future was seen in a Your Party meeting I attended in Dewsbury, in West Yorkshire, three weeks ago. As Your Party-leaning candidates reported on their experience and intentions, one theme emerged clearly: the centrality of community-level organising and support, like that Corbyn’s community-skills programme advocated for seven years ago.

Could this grow into something substantial? Ordinarily, maybe not, but there are three years to the next general election, and it is obvious that Your Party is playing it long. The Labour Party is unlikely to seriously challenge neoliberal economics within that time, but Your Party most certainly will.

Independent candidates Supported by Your Party

Your Party is proud to support the community and independent candidates across the country in the upcoming elections. Electing these members of your community is the first step in building a real alternative, a politics rooted in and accountable to our communities, not billionaires and the professional political class. Together, we will campaign against cuts, stand up for public services and council housing and advocate for full divestment from Israeli apartheid.

These local elections are a huge opportunity to elect socialist councillors, build our bases and make change happen – please support and vote for them on May 7th!

Jeremy Corbyn bill demands MPs approve UK military action and use of bases

It reads: “Bill to require parliamentary approval for the deployment of UK armed forces and military equipment for armed conflict; to require parliamentary approval for the granting of permission by ministers for use of UK military bases and equipment by other nations for armed conflict; to require the withdrawal of that permission in circumstances where parliamentary approval is not granted; to provide for certain exemptions from these requirements; to make provision for retrospective parliamentary approval in certain circumstances; and for connected purposes.”

Greens, Your Party and Labour backbenchers build anti-war alliance in parliament

(today)

The alliance is between the resurgent Green Party, the new left-wing Your Party, the parliamentary Independent Alliance of independent MPs and Labour backbenchers.

Jeremy Corbyn, former Labour leader and parliamentary leader of the new Your Party, on Thursday tabled a parliamentary bill with cross-party backing that would require parliament‘s approval for the foreign use of British military bases.

It comes in response to Prime Minister Keir Starmer‘s decision on Sunday night to allow the US to use UK military bases for the purpose of targeting Iranian missile sites.

Your Party under Corbyn to work with Greens on ‘coordinated left-flank offensive’

(February 26, 2026)

A Jeremy Corbyn-led Your Party will work with the Green party and others to push for a “coordinated left-flank offensive” against Reform and Labour, the Guardian understands.

After winning a comprehensive victory to become the de facto leader of the leftwing startup party on Thursday, Corbyn will seek to rebuild bridges with pro-Gaza communities “alienated” by his rival Zarah Sultana, sources close to Corbyn said.

Corbyn set to lead Your Party in Commons after executive vote win

(February 26, 2026)

JEREMY CORBYN is set to be named parliamentary leader of Your Party after the election of its first central executive, with a mission to get the troubled party “back on track.”

Candidates endorsed by the For the Many slate, backed by Mr Corbyn, won 14 of the 24 seats on the executive.

The party’s other co-founder, Zarah Sultana, was herself elected, but the Grassroots Left slate she endorsed had only seven candidates elected, all of them women.

Your Party leadership elections now open

In the ‘endorsements’ phase, during which Your Party members could endorse candidates they wished to see on the ballot, Jeremy Corbyn’s ‘The Many’ was leading in 12 seats, while Zarah Sultana’s ‘Grassroots Left’ led in another 10, alongside two Independent candidates.

(,..)

11,414 members took part. Over 350 members put themselves forward as candidates. More than 80 progressed to the next stage, the majority of which are Independents.

Getting Your Party Back on Track

Getting Your Party back on track means campaigning tirelessly on the issues that matter most to people, from the cost-of-living to opposing racism and war.

But it also means empowering Your Party members to organise most effectively and make decisions collectively. For that, we need iron-clad democratic commitments that ensure all members can play their full part — not democratic posturing behind which small sects seek outsized influence.

So here are The Many’s six priorities to build a truly member-led party:

1. Set Up Official Branches — so all members can get organised.

2. Defend OMOV — so all members get to decide, not the sects.

3. Establish Members’ Policy Commissions — so policies are shaped by the people they will affect.

4. Review the Finances and Data — so all members can have trust, nothing off limits.

5. Organise the Liberation Sections — so members from every background are empowered.

6. Report Back Monthly — so the collective leadership is accountable to all members, not just itself.

Everything that happened on day 2 of Your Party Scottish conference

(February 8, 2026)

This saw members vote by 62% for a collective leadership of YPS, rejecting either a single leader or two co-leaders.

It was also decided by 59% that YPS will move towards being an organisationally independent party albeit still working in alliance with Your Party in England and Wales.

Other decisions included the direct election of YPS national officers, term limits for officer positions, dual membership of other socialist parties is allowed, and affiliation of unions is permitted.

(…)

By 70%, conference voted to stand YPS candidates in the Holyrood elections.

NO Complicity in Israeli Apartheid

Gaza may not be in the headlines, but make no mistake: the genocide continues.
Occupation continues.
Apartheid continues.
Your Party emerged from the mass movement for Palestine – and it needs to be at the heart of that struggle.
So if elected to lead Your Party, The Many are pleased to announce what our first national campaign will be: no complicity in Israeli Apartheid

Corbyn and Sultana are neck-and-neck in the race to lead Your Party

(February 4, 2026)

Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana’s slates are at level pegging in the battle to lead Your Party, with less than a week until the organisation holds internal elections.

The endorsement phase – in which members were able to endorse candidates they wish to see on the ballot for elections to Your Party’s central executive committee – closed on Thursday 29 January. Corbyn’s slate – The Many – are leading in 12 seats, while Grassroots Left, which Sultana is attached to, are leading in 10.

READ | Why The Many matters

(January 26, 2026)

Read Laura Smith’s article in the Morning Star. People have been let down again and again. By governments that manage decline instead of challenging it. By parties that talk about fairness while entrenching inequality. By institutions that seem distant, unaccountable, and deaf to everyday reality.

But recognising that failure is not enough. We are here because we believe something fundamentally different is possible. Not cosmetic change. Not a rebranding of the same failed politics. But a credible alternative — rooted in organisation, democracy, and community power.

Announcing: The Socialist Leadership Programme

In Your Party, we have to do things differently. That’s why The Many is announcing the Socialist Leadership Programme: If we are elected to Your Party’s Central Executive Committee, we will establish this programme to identify, educate and train a new generation of working-class socialist leaders.

These are leaders who will represent the full breath of our coalition: Old and young, from all faiths and none, and from every corner of Britain. Leaders built up not from Westminster and the professional political class, but from community campaigns, workplace struggles, and social movements. Leaders who won’t just posture, but will build real power.

How Do We Beat the Far Right? With Unity

We need an alternative – and this requires more than just a different policy position. It requires a new kind of politics: one that harnesses the unifying power of solidarity to defeat the divisive tactic of scapegoating. One that unites working class people in all their diversity and empowers communities to wage campaigns where they live and work. One that stops treating politics as something that is done to people – and starts treating politics as something that is done by people.

This imperative led to the birth of Your Party. The surge of community-based victories in recent years – from the remarkable success of independent candidates in the 2024 general election, to the blossoming of local community independent groups in councils all over the country – demonstrated a demand for an alternative to the failed establishment politics.

Corbyn will be Your Party parliamentary leader if his slate wins CEC election, allies say

JEREMY CORBYN will be elected parliamentary leader for Your Party if his slate wins the central executive committee election next month, his allies say.

If the list of candidates headed by the former Labour Party leader, called The Many, clinch the nomination on February 26, Zarah Sultana’s “parliamentary convener” model would not see the light of day.

ELECTION OF THE CEC

The Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be the team elected by members to lead and run Your Party day-to-day — overseeing staff and resources, guiding our strategy, and putting decisions from the founding conference into action. Following members’ decision at our founding conference, it will also act as the collective leadership of Your Party, with the Chair, Vice Chair, and Spokesperson in particular serving as the public political leadership.

Our first CEC elections begin in January 2026 and will be open to all verified members, using a one-member-one-vote system with both digital and postal options. Once voting concludes in February 2026, the newly elected CEC will take on the responsibility of steering the party forward. The full timetable is below and the rules for the election here.

EVOLVED FOUNDING DOCUMENTS

We promised to do things differently — and we have. Below you will find evolved drafts of Your Party’s four founding documents: our Political Statement, Constitution, Standing Orders, and Organisational Strategy. Together, they set out our principles, our purpose, and how we organise to win. Over the last month, thousands of members have debated and amended these documents at regional assemblies across every nation of Britain, while also proposing edits online via our unique crowd-editing tool. Harnessing the wisdom of a mass movement, the documents have evolved in response to members’ views. The big questions will be decided by members democratically during our Founding Conference, with some amendments emerging from the process and members able to submit others. This is real democracy in action — get involved, as we build a new party by and for the people, not the powerful.
