Ideal – Keine Heimat (Na, sowas!, 07.02.1983)

Premiered Apr 12, 2025

The Trumpanyahu “Peace” Plan, And Other Notes

The onus is on the party committing genocide to stop committing genocide. The onus is not on the victims of the genocide to sign agreements in the hope of saving themselves from the genocide. This is obvious to anyone who isn’t a psychopath.

(…)

I didn’t come to where I’m at ideologically from reading Lenin or talking to Marxists, I got here because I did a lot of inner work and had some transformative experiences and came out the other side with a deep love for this beautiful planet and for the strange naked ape mutants who people it, and with a yearning to help create a healthy world. I just kinda felt my way through the human experience as the barefoot hippie earth mama that I am, and it carried me to a clear intuitive understanding that the western empire must end and that capitalism cannot carry our species into the future.

Raging grannies become Yvette Cooper’s worst nightmare

(August 19, 2025)

La Pethick, an 89-year-old retired psychotherapist, became the poster granny of the August 8 Parliament Square protest when a photo of her in her white hat being carried away by police spread like wildfire across the internet. Pethick, a retired psychotherapist from near Hastings, East Sussex, told the Times, “We are having our right to peaceful protest being taken away.”

Claudia Cotton, 89, a Jewish refugee also interviewed by the Times and whose family fled Nazi Germany in 1939, told the newspaper: “I am prepared to be arrested. In fact, I think it’s a good thing because it shows how ordinary people are willing to go to prison to oppose governments that are doing evil things.”

Grandmother Manji Mansfield, observed in an interview with Al Jazeera during the August 8 protest, “This isn’t the Britain that I grew up in. We are now living in an alternative universe.”

„I am Spartacus.“ Former Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters risks prosecution, and a potential 14 year jail term, by voicing his support for Palestine Action, now proscribed as a terrorist group in the UK

(July 8, 2025)

As of Saturday, July 5, membership of Palestine Action, or expressing public support for the group, is a criminal offence in Britain. On July 5, police in London arrested 29 people in Parliament Square for holding placards stating, „I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action“.

In the video posted on his social media channels on July 5, former Pink Floyd legend Waters says, „For the record, I support Palestine Action“, calling the pressure group „a great organisation“, and sharing his belief that the „non-violent“ group are „absolutely not terrorists in any way.“

Roger Waters from Pink Floyd backs Palestine Action, denounces UK terror label

Waters defended the group’s tactics as peaceful and justified, saying: “They are a nonviolent protest organisation protesting the presence in the UK of Elbit Systems, an Israeli arms manufacturing organisation… I support Palestine Action and I always will because that is the right thing to do.”

Referencing journalist George Monbiot’s call for public defiance, Waters echoed the rallying cry: “This is the ‘I am Spartacus’ moment… Good on everybody who is standing up everywhere and saying, ‘I am Spartacus.’ We will not be rolled over by this appalling Labour government in the United Kingdom.”

The musician concluded with a stark message: “Palestine Action is not a terrorist organisation. They are lying… that’s all I have to say.“

One of the biggest benefits of not being beholden to a studio and funding a movie yourself, is that you have the final say in what happens to it.

Megalopolis was – even if Coppola would not call it one – a personal passion project that would have never been made if the legendary director had not funded it himself.

(—)

With an incredible cast, possibly one of the greatest assembled in the last 20 years, Megalopolis was the vision of Coppola without any outside interference or input.

The US war against the Palestinians, and the struggle to oppose it

WHAT is your view on Trump’s pronouncements on Gaza? How do these reflect on the US’s relationship with Israel and its role in the Middle East?

These declarations by Trump show a barbaric mentality; bringing to the Gaza issue a “cowboy” attitude from the American experience: removing the native people because the white man has decided it.

We need to be clear that this has not really been a war against Hamas for reasons of security but a strategic war, planned in advance, with the goal of displacing and erasing the Palestinian population.

Francis Ford Coppola: ‘I Have Nothing Left to Lose’

At Cannes, where it premiered in May, Megalopolis managed to be the single most divisive film of the festival; love it or hate it, Coppola’s huge swing for the philosophical fences is a truly singular work — and is exactly the movie that he wanted to make. (It’s set to hit theaters on Sept. 27.) That Coppola somehow managed in his eighties to will this long-gestating pet project into being and self-finance it against his winery for $120 million is borderline unbelievable, even given his legacy as someone willing to bet a fortune and/or a film studio to follow a dream. “I have everything to lose here,” he says, referring to this portrait of the decline, fall, and Phoenix-like rise of a civilization. “And, in a way, I have nothing left to lose anymore.”

From Free Speech to Free Palestine: Six Decades of Student Protest

“You’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop,” he said. Soon the students would flood into a campus administration building.

That scene played out 60 years ago at the University of California, Berkeley. The words were directed at the university leadership, and referring to its restrictions on campus political activity. But the speech, from the student leader Mario Savio, and the sit-in that followed could have happened yesterday.

Nuclear Secrets, a Compost Heap and the Lost Documents Daniel Ellsberg Never Leaked

(April 20, 2023)

Daniel Ellsberg — who died Friday at 92 — fully expected to spend the rest of his life in prison after he leaked the Pentagon Papers to The New York Times and The Washington Post in 1971. The documents revealed decades of government lies and mistakes about the war in Vietnam, and eventually, they helped end it.

The charges against Ellsberg were ultimately dismissed, but he had a secret: The Pentagon Papers were only supposed to be the beginning. Alongside the documents about Vietnam, he’d copied thousands of pages of other documents about America’s nuclear war planning that he believed would shock the public conscience. But a series of mishaps kept those documents from ever coming to light.
