Twins No More, Trump and Netanyahu Part Ways on Handling Coronavirus Crisis
Trump’s handling of the crisis has undermined public confidence in his presidency and is seen as a potentially major obstacle on his way to reelection; Netanyahu has scored rave reviews even among major critics for his forthrightness and resoluteness: The coronavirus may yet save his moribund political career.
Trump calls coronavirus a ‚foreign virus‘ in Oval Office address
„This is the most aggressive and comprehensive effort to confront a foreign virus in modern history,“ the President said.
„I am confident that by counting and continuing to take these tough measures we will significantly reduce the threat to our citizens and we will ultimately and expeditiously defeat this virus.“

Coronavirus: South Korea confirms huge rise in cases
(22.02.2020)
In a statement, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that of the 229 new cases, 95 were related to Daenam Hospital in Cheongdo, which treats the elderly and people with mental health issues. There are now 114 confirmed cases at the hospital – nine staff and 102 patients – it added.
Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip said the outbreak had entered „a serious new phase“.
He said most of those diagnosed at the hospital had been inpatients for mental illnesses. Some cases showed „no confirmed epidemiological connections“, meaning it was not clear how they had contracted the virus, he added.
The mentally ill. The disabled. The elderly. The coronavirus hit hardest where the frail gathered
(08.03.2020)
His lonely death in the early hours of Feb. 19 became a matter of urgent public interest when he was posthumously confirmed to have the novel coronavirus, becoming the first killed by the illness in South Korea. Six others who’d been housed alongside him at the psych ward at the private Cheongdo Daenam Hospital in the country’s southeast, all in their 50s and 60s, also died within days. Of 102 patients in the psych ward, 100 had contracted the deadly virus.
Authorities haven’t determined how the virus made its way into the locked ward,

‘Proselytizing Robots’: Inside South Korean Church at Outbreak’s Center
More than 1.2 million citizens have called for the secretive church to be disbanded. One province asked the public to report church members to a hotline for coronavirus testing. Smartphone apps help identify the church’s 1,100 once-obscure facilities in South Korea, most already plastered with “off-limits” signs by disease-control officials.
South Korea orders temporary shutdown of messianic church linked to more than half the country’s coronavirus cases
(23.02.2020)
South Korean President Moon Jae-in said the country’s coronavirus crisis has entered a “totally different phase since the mass infection at Shincheonji.” Hundreds of thousands signed a petition calling for the church to be dissolved.
Moon called the temporary shutdown of Shincheonji churches across the country “a fair and inevitable step” to protect the community. He said there was “no intention to limit religious freedom.”
Bennett, Liberman, Deri call for emergency unity government
„Unite now, fight later,“ Bennett said at a Tel Aviv press conference in which he proposed passing a bill to freeze the current political situation for six months.
Liberman suggested a government of only Likud and Blue and White to deal with the coronavirus on Thursday in an interview with the Russian-language Channel 9.
Netanyahu’s request to delay trial rejected as Israeli president urges unity
(11.03.2020)
Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving leader, is desperate to remain in office because installing a new government would give him an important political boost and potentially allow him to legislate his way out of the legal quagmire.
His opponent, Benny Gantz, refused to sit with him in government and appears poised to push for legislation in the incoming parliament that would bar anyone indicted for a crime from leading a government – in effect disqualifying Netanyahu from his position.
Israel: Labor party chief approves Gantz-led minority gov‘t with Joint List support
Peretz said that he was still in touch with Orly Levy-Abekasis and was hoping to come to an accord regarding the steps to be taken in the future.
Israel: Too early to dismiss minority gov‘t, Blue and White‘s Ya‘alon says
However, one of the Labor-Gesher-Meretz faction heads announced earlier that she would not back a minority government. Orly Levy-Abecassis also said she was pulling her party out of the left-wing alliance.
The Israeli Legislator Blocking a Center-left Government Must Resign
Levi-Abekasis decided on her own to opt for a political renewal and move from the right to the left. Naturally, her move triggered much suspicion, but she, Peretz and their partners dismissed these misgivings with disdain, even alleging anti-Mizrahi racism against anyone doubting that Levi-Abekasis had ideologically abandoned the right. After many efforts at convincing people, and based on the promises by the Labor-Gesher-Meretz alliance, people voted for the union she had joined.
Levi-Abekasis has the right to regret her transition.
The ‚Leftist‘ Who‘s Ruining Gantz‘s Chance to Form a Government
But Orli Levi-Abekasis, a balloon inflated with self-importance, someone devoid of ideology, with no electoral clout, a deceiving scoundrel, robbed the center-left bloc’s voters of this rare opportunity, probably triggering a fourth election.
How do I switch to another simulation
Gotta admit, I didn’t have Sarah Palin doing Baby Got Back on the Masked Singer on my Apocalypse Bingo card.
In case we didn’t see this look at these numbers. And the time stamp. This is reminiscent of 2016. If they can do this without any sort of accountability, guess what? They’ll keep doing it. It’s long been time to call for recounts and investigations. #ElectionIntegrity
Note also how at the bottom they go from 1,344,469 vote totals to 1,072,844. Which is obviously not possible. @MichiganDems you’ve been exposed.
Trial of Programmer Accused in C.I.A. Leak Ends in Hung Jury
Prosecutors were careful to avoid details about specific operations. During cross-examination, Ms. Shroff asked one C.I.A. witness: “Do you recall a time when the C.I.A. covertly tried to read Angela Merkel’s emails?” referring to the German chancellor.
The government objected, and the judge stopped the witness from answering.
Statement From Chelsea Manning’s Legal Team: Ms. Manning is Recovering in Hospital, Scheduled to Appear in Court Friday
Writing in a 2019 letter to Judge Trenga, Ms. Manning said: “I object to this grand jury … as an effort to frighten journalists and publishers, who serve a crucial public good. I have had these values since I was a child, and I’ve had years of confinement to reflect on them. For much of that time, I depended for survival on my values, my decisions, and my conscience. I will not abandon them now.”

Militäraktionen mit Zustimmung: US-Kongress weist Trump in die Schranken
House passes measure limiting Trump‘s ability to take military action against Iran
In a largely party-line 227-186 vote, the House approved the resolution that would direct the president to “terminate the use of United States Armed Forces for hostilities against” Iran unless Congress specifically authorizes it. Six Republicans voted for the measure.
The Senate passed the resolution in a 55-45 vote last month, with eight Republicans siding with Democrats to support it. Neither chamber of Congress is expected to have the votes to override Trump’s likely veto.
