Around 2,000 protesters arrived at the rally under the moniker “Bastille Day,” named after the July 14th French National Day which commemorates the storming of a grand fortress — an event that launched the French Revolution in 1789.

The driver, who was alone, fled the scene after hitting the protesters, Trooper Chase Van Cleave told The Associated Press. One of the other protesters got in a car and chased the driver for about a mile. He was able to stop him by pulling his car in front of the Jaguar, Van Cleave said.
Troopers arrived, and the driver was put in custody, Washington State Patrol Capt. Ron Mead said.

Israel and Gaza’s ruling Hamas agreed to an open-ended ceasefire on August 26 after seven weeks of fighting – an uneasy deal that halted the Protective Edge operation, with more than 2,200 killed.
The IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) began their current operation against Hamas after three teens were kidnapped and killed. The military op has already claimed over 1,500 civilian lives in Gaza.
As the investigation into the May 31 death of Harsch continued, detectives obtained surveillance video from a vacant building near where his body was discovered. The video confirmed the absence of foul play, authorities said.
Detectives also met with Harsch’s family members. The evidence from the case, including the surveillance video, was shown to the relatives per their request.
Olzewski also noted:
„Ventilators are likely to be the leading cause of death in the pandemic. Sedatives and paralytics combined with barro-trauma from pressurized air kill 90 percent of those vented at Elmhurst (and by extension, much of the world).
Nosocomial (in-hospital) infection is the main vector of transmission. At Elmhurst, “Covid Rule-Out” and “Covid Confirmed” are housed in the same rooms. PPE is not changed between patients. Rooms are not properly or even marginally cleaned after Covid deaths.
Isolated from family, patients at Elmhurst who do not have “Do Not Resuscitate” orders are being treated as though they did. Nurses were told not to perform CPR on at least one “full code” patient, in violation of their oaths and licenses.
Delayed treatment due to the government mandate to stay inside, and the government recommendation to not seek early outpatient help, combined with the restriction in New York and elsewhere on promising, even proven therapies during the early stages of illness, massively compounds the death rate.
Much of which points to what may be the real reason black and brown Americans seem to be disproportionately affected by COVID-19. They are likely not dying because of some alleged genetic predisposition or a peculiar array of Covi-combustible comorbidities. But they are certainly dying from an underlying condition: a defunded, criminally negligent, and corrupt hospital system, which during this crisis seems to take extra pains to do them in, and which may be financially incentivized to do so.“

And not just any New York public hospital, but the „epicenter of the epicenter“ itself, the infamous Elmhurst in Donald Trump’s Queens. As a result of these diametrically opposed experiences, she has the ultimate „perspective on the pandemic“. She has been where there have been the most deaths attributed to Covid-19 and where there have been the least.

Fox removed the edited images in response to an article in the Seattle Times, telling the outlet in a statement, “We have replaced our photo illustration with the clearly delineated images of a gunman and a shattered storefront, both of which were taken this week in Seattle’s autonomous zone.” The image of the shattered storefront, however, was not captured this week in the autonomous zone.
On Saturday, Fox apologized in an editor’s note posted to stories about CHAZ on its website, sayings its home-page photos “did not clearly delineate” the splicing together of multiple images from different locations. The editor’s note also acknowledged the erroneous use of the Minnesota rioting photo to illustrate Seattle news. “Fox News regrets these errors,” the note stated.
The network’s misleading and faked images were published as the Capitol Hill zone — quickly labeled CHAZ — became a political flashpoint for conservatives nationally and a target of tweets by President Donald Trump, who has branded the demonstrators “domestic terrorists” and threatened federal action unless local officials “take back” the area.

A petition was filed by the family requesting that footage of Iyad’s death be released, but an Israeli court struck it down last week following a police request.
At a funeral held for al-Hallak, his relatives alleged that his death would have been treated differently if he had not been a Palestinian and accused the Israel Police of using lethal violence over nothing but a mere suspicion.
Protesters marched through Seattle in silence on Friday. The protest came on the same day that a U.S. judge has ordered Seattle police to temporarily stop using tear gas, pepper spray and flash-bang devices to break up peaceful protests. (June 12)
In some cases of police violence, including in the case of George Floyd, there is a disconnect between what officers say happened and what video evidence later shows. As the nation weighs police reform measures, former NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton says it should focus on the importance of telling the truth.
5. The NYPD Now Has Offices All Over The World
Through the International Liaison Program, NYPD detectives are now stationed in 13 cities around the globe, from Paris to Amman to Sydney. If you’re surprised that New York City would have flatfoots permanently operating on the majority of Earth’s continents, you aren’t alone. When bombs went off in Bali in 2005, Indonesian police were understandably „astonished and irritated that the NYPD showed up.“
When asked for details at a press conference, Mayor Bloomberg basically told reporters to fuck off, saying, „The NYPD has lots of capabilities that you don’t know about and you won’t know about.“
The New York Times has reported that the department’s Harbor unit has 6 submarine drones; four cost $75,000 and the two others cost $120,000, according to the Times. They are developing a portable radar that can see under clothes in order to search for weapons. Militaristic „Hercules teams,“ are deployed to random parts of the city armed with automatic weapons and body armor. Their explicitly stated role is to terrify people.
The Deputy Commissioner oversees both the Intelligence Bureau, which is responsible for intelligence collection and analysis; and the NYPD’s Counterterrorism Bureau operations, including the partnership with the FBI/NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force, the first and largest of its kind in the nation.
New York City is home to more than 8 million people and hosts over 58 million visitors from all over the world annually. The Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureaus provide some of the most highly trained and best equipped officers to patrol the city, collect and analyze data, and collaborate with partner agencies.
The CT Bureau reviews possible terrorist targets and develops innovative, forward-thinking policies and procedures to guard against attacks, training first responders and specialized units and developing intelligence capabilities for detecting and preventing terrorist attacks. The bureau coordinates with federal, state, and other law enforcement agencies in intelligence gathering and sharing, and plays an integral role in the FBI’s Joint Terrorist Task Force.
Critical Response Command (CRC) is one of the Department’s first lines of defense against a terrorist-related attack. A permanent cadre of hand-selected police officers devoted to counterterrorism, CRC members are trained to respond swiftly, with sufficient expertise and force, to the most highly organized and heavily armed attacks. All CRC team members are trained in special weapons and long-range guns, explosive trace detection, radiological and nuclear awareness, biological and chemical weapons awareness, and are equipped with the skills to detect an impending attack and utilize the best possible response to an emerging situation. The team conducts daily counterterrorism deployments to critical infrastructure sites throughout New York City, saturating strategic locations with a uniform presence to disrupt and deter terrorist planning and hostile surveillance operations.
Domain Awareness System (DAS) is a powerful counterterrorism and policing tool jointly developed and built by the NYPD and Microsoft. As a central platform, DAS is used to aggregate data from internal and external closed-circuit television cameras, license plate readers, and environmental sensors, as well as 911 calls and other NYPD databases. DAS uses an interactive dashboard interface to display real-time alerts whenever a 911 call is received or a sensor is triggered.

Despite police crackdowns, curfews, boiling heat, rain, and fears of a global pandemic that continues to plague America, huge crowds of protesters swelled to their largest size yet on Saturday in some of the country’s biggest cities.
Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in cities across the country—and around the world—for what appeared to be the largest mobilization of activists on a single day since George Floyd was killed on May 25. On the 12th day of demonstrations, protesters called for an end to racism and police brutality, often highlighting others who had been killed at the hands of law enforcement.

A video shot Monday in Kinngait, Nunavut, shows a police officer using the door of an RCMP truck to knock the Inuk man over before he is arrested by five police officers. The man had been reported to police as „an intoxicated male who was reported to be fighting with others,“ but the video shows him alone.

Protests around the country continued on Tuesday night. Our reporters and photographers were on the ground in cities across the U.S. Here’s what they saw:
Correction: We deleted an earlier tweet that misidentified the type of military helicopter pictured using a „show of force“ maneuver. It was a Lakota, not a Black Hawk. A Black Hawk was also seen using the tactic in Washington on Monday.

An emotional Fischer announced Monday that there was no officer body camera video of the shooting.
“That lack of institutional failure will not be tolerated,” Fischer said as he announced Conrad’s termination, effective immediately. Robert Schroeder will serve as interim police chief.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer on Monday announced there was no officer body camera video of the shooting that killed a popular owner of a barbecue restaurant early Monday morning.

The two students were in downtown Atlanta during during the second night of protests in the city over the death of George Floyd. In the incident, the two students were pulled from the car, stunned, and arrested. FOX 5 learned one of the students is enrolled at Spelman College and the other is enrolled at Morehouse College. Both were released from police custody Sunday.
The chief of police in Norfolk, Virginia marched Saturday with protesters rallying against the death of George Floyd and police brutality, according to video taken on the scene. Larry Boone walked with demonstrators after having conversations with several of them about police accountability: “I want to meet with each and every one of you if we can work together…All policemen, folks, aren’t bad.” Amidst shouts from protesters, he praised them for remaining peaceful: “You’ve shown the world how it’s done.”

Just to be clear, this is separate from the 3pm gathering scheduled at Westlake Center.
