UNRWA Commissioner-General: The burning of UNRWA’s headquarters is an unprecedented attack on the United Nations
(January 25, 2ß26)
There are no limits to the defiance of the United Nations and international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
After having been stormed and demolished by the Israeli authorities, the UNRWA Headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem has now been set on fire.
UN chief warns he could refer Israel to ICJ over laws targeting UNRWA
(January 13, 2026)
In a January 8 letter to Netanyahu, Guterres said the UN cannot remain indifferent to “actions taken by Israel, which are in direct contravention of the obligations of Israel under international law. They must be reversed without delay.”
Lincoln Carrier Strike Group Has Arrived In CENTCOM’s Area Of Responsibility
The arrival of the Lincoln CSG to the region follows a U.S. Air Force Central (AFCENT) announcement on Sunday that it will be conducting Agile Spartan, “a multi-day readiness exercise to demonstrate the ability to deploy, disperse, and sustain combat airpower across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.” AFCENT told us that Agile Spartan is “part of its regular exercise schedule and not in response to current tensions.” However, the optics of the timing are hard to avoid.

Fetterman Calls on President Trump to Fire DHS Secretary Noem
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, following the tragedies in Minnesota and the incompetence of the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Noem, U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) released the following statement:
“President Trump: I make a direct appeal to immediately fire Secretary Noem.
“Americans have died.
“She is betraying DHS’s core mission and trashing your border security legacy.
“DO NOT make the mistake President Biden made for not firing a grossly incompetent DHS Secretary.”
ICE chief ordered to appear in court to explain why detainees have been denied due process
The chief federal judge in Minnesota says the Trump administration has failed to comply with orders to hold hearings for detained immigrants and ordered the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to appear before him Friday to explain why he shouldn‘t be held in contempt.
In an order dated Monday, Chief Judge Patrick J. Schiltz said Todd Lyons, the acting director of ICE, must appear personally in court. Schlitz took the administration to task over its handling of bond hearings for immigrants it has detained.
Judge orders acting ICE director to appear in federal court in Minneapolis
“This Court has been extremely patient with respondents, even though respondents decided to send thousands of agents to Minnesota to detain aliens without making any provision for dealing with the hundreds of habeas petitions and other lawsuits that were sure to result,” Schiltz continued.
The judge wrote that ICE and Homeland Security officials “have continually assured the Court that they recognize their obligation to comply with Court orders, and that they have taken steps to ensure that those orders will be honored going forward. Unfortunately, though, the violations continue.”

The Trump-Vance-Noem-Bovino Message to Americans: Obey or Die
Back in 1980, I went into Uganda during the Civil War against Idi Amin to take over a refugee camp up in the Karamoja region. When I was leaving the country, going through the Entebbe airport (which had only intermittent electricity and considerable damage from the war), I was confronted by three armed men, two of them Tanzanian soldiers (who’d just successfully occupied the country as Amin fled to Saudi Arabia) and one a local Ugandan policeman.
One of the soldiers had an AK-47 over his shoulder and he grabbed the clip and rotated the gun down so the barrel was pointed right at my nose from a distance of about 6 inches.
“I could kill you right here, right now,” he said with a smile, “and nobody will ever know. Nobody will ever punish me. Now, give us half of your money.”
His message was essentially the same message that the Trump regime is trying to communicate to all of us today:
Donald Trump Sends Kristi Noem Rival Tom Homan to Minnesota
„He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there,“ Trump said of Homan in a Monday morning post on Truth Social, announcing his deployment to Minnesota. „Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.“
The move cuts across DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who is facing increasing pressure after deadly clashes in Minneapolis between federal immigration enforcement officers and protesters. Homan is a potential rival to Noem for her role, though she publicly welcomed Trump‘s decision.
Trump White House distances itself from provocative claims by Noem, others on Pretti shooting
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and deputy White House chief of staff Stephen Miller quickly accused Pretti, an ICU nurse, of domestic terrorism after Saturday‘s shooting without citing any evidence.
(…)
President Trump on Monday announced he is dispatching his border czar, Tom Homan, to Minnesota — bypassing the normal chain of command — where Noem and Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino have been overseeing ICE operations.
White House eases tone on Pretti killing: Trump ‘does not want any Americans to lose their lives’
Stephen Miller, Trump’s homeland security adviser, had called Pretti a “domestic terrorist” and accused him of being an “assassin.”
(…)
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, shortly after Pretti’s killing, claimed he had been “brandishing” a weapon and that he had reacted “violently” to officers’ attempts to disarm him. Later analyses from multiple news outlets found many of those claims were contradicted by the available video evidence.
Leavitt, asked Monday about Miller’s comments, said, “I have not heard the president characterize Mr. Pretti in that way.”
Stephen Miller: ICE’s ideologue-in-chief
(January 26, 2026)
Today, we’ll be talking about Stephen Miller, Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, and how the deadly ICE surge in Minnesota is only the latest example of domestic policy that he has championed. In Trump‘s second administration, Miller is emerging as the main architect and enforcer of Trump‘s signature policies: from hardline immigration policies and mass deportations, to retaliation against the administration‘s perceived enemies, to increasingly aggressive foreign policy.
Trump‘s immigration approval drops to record low, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds
Just 39% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing on immigration, down from 41% earlier this month, while 53% disapprove, the poll found.
Commander Gregory Bovino, some Border Patrol agents set to leave Minneapolis, sources say
One of the sources said Bovino was relieved of his command in Minneapolis and is expected to return to California‘s El Centro sector, where he served as the chief agent before the Trump administration deployed him to major American cities, including Los Angeles and Chicago.
The development follows intense backlash over how top federal officials, including Bovino, responded to the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti. Bovino, citing no evidence, suggested over the weekend Pretti intended to „massacre“ federal agents.
Border Patrol Official Gregory Bovino Is Set to Leave Minnesota
Several other Border Patrol agents are expected to leave with Mr. Bovino.
Mr. Bovino’s operations in major American cities across the country have sparked lawsuits and protests. Mr. Bovino, a sector chief in one part of the California border, first became a fixture after he led immigration operations following protests in Los Angeles in June. Since then, he has been deployed to Chicago, Charlotte, New Orleans and Minneapolis.
As of this weekend, there were more than 1,000 U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and agents in the city. That’s along with a force of up to 2,000 from ICE.
Trump strikes a positive tone on Tim Walz after phone call with the Minnesota governor
It marks a noticeable shift in the way the president has talked about Walz, whom he’s repeatedly criticized for his handling of a fraud scandal in Minnesota and blamed for unrest that has led to federal officers shooting and killing two people in recent weeks.
As recently as Saturday, after a federal agent’s fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, Trump accused Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who is also a Democrat, of „inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric“ and slammed them as „sanctimonious political fools.“
Walz and Frey both talk to President Trump today; Say positive conversations
Trump and Democratic Gov. Tim Walz spoke in a phone call and later offered comments that were a marked change from the critical statements they have exchanged in the past. Their conversation happened on the same day a federal judge heard arguments in a lawsuit aimed at halting the federal immigration enforcement surge in the state.
“We, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength,” the president wrote in a social media post.
Walz, in a statement, said the call was “productive” and that impartial investigations into the shootings were needed
Democrats Embrace a Shutdown Fight They Wanted to Avoid
After a second fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis, Democrats say public opinion is on their side and they are willing to risk a backlash to counter what they see as police-state tactics.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”
