Sudan‘s RSF massacres 433 people as it forms parallel ‘peace government’

The latest massacre comes as senior RSF leaders and allied figures arrived in the Kenyan capital to set the wheels in motion for the formation of a parallel government in areas the paramilitary group controls.

Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, the deputy commander of the RSF and brother of its leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (commonly known as Hemeti), arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday for the two-day conference.

A political charter “for the government of peace and unity”, as it’s being dubbed, is set to be signed on Wednesday.

Syria: Mass Grave in Damascus Should be Protected, Investigated

Residents in Tadamon said that executions in the area were common. In interviews in 2022, they described at least 10 other incidents of summary killings between August 2012 and January 2014 in Tadamon, Daraya, Moadamiya, and surrounding areas. This evidence suggests that other bodies were buried in and around the area. The area was also the site of armed clashes between Syrian government forces and opposition fighters affiliated with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) at numerous points between 2012 and 2013.

Human Rights Watch began investigating the massacre in October 2021, after receiving a leaked video discovered by a member of a Syrian militia on a laptop and handed to Annsar Shahhoud and Uğur Ümit Üngör, researchers at the University of Amsterdam and the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam, and ARD, a German Public Broadcaster.

“This video, filmed by the perpetrators themselves who laughed as they killed their victims, shows the Syrian government’s callous disregard for people’s lives,” Zayadin said. “This massacre is just one horrific incident in a pattern of state violence and apparent war crimes.”

An Israeli air strike on a multi-storey residential building in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, left dozens of Palestinians killed and wounded on Sunday morning.

The government media office in Gaza put the number of those killed at 72. It said the strike hit a residential building that housed members of six families.

Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli air strike killed at least 10 people in al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, when a missile hit a house, medics said.

This brings the death toll in the besieged Palestinian enclave since 7 October 2023 to 43,163, with more than 101,510 wounded and at least 10,000 still missing, likely dead and buried under rubble.

Health officials report that over 60 percent of the victims are children and women.

In the case of South Africa v. Israel, two violations in particular have been raised: complicity in genocide and failure to prevent genocide. Death toll in Moscow concert hall attack climbs to 133 – investigators

The death toll in the attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow Region has grown to 133, Russia’s Investigative Committee said on Saturday. Emergency services continue to dig through the rubble of the building, which was partially destroyed in a massive fire sparked by the attackers.
