Between Washington‘s rock & Ankara‘s hard place, Kurds had better choose Damascus
The US should never have been there in the first place (though reading Hillary Clinton‘s late-night response to Trump it is clearer than ever that the world dodged more than a bullet when she failed to win the presidency).
The Kurdish people should have never placed their fate in the hands of a far off and thoroughly unreliable US “ally” which has picked them up only to put them back on the shelf so many times before. Syrian Kurds belong to Syria and it is with their Syrian neighbours and government that the SDF should have been in alliance.
Syrian Kurds hint at possible talks with Damascus amid US troops withdrawal
“At that time we may hold talks with Damascus or the Russian side to fill the void or block the Turkish attack, so this may develop and there could be meetings and contacts in case of a vacuum,” he added.
A senior Syrian government official, in return, said Damascus is ready to welcome Syria‘s Kurds back into the fold after Washington left them to face Turkish military threats alone.

No10 say Brexit deal is now ‘impossible’ and warn EU countries they will be treated as hostile – as Boris vows to meet Irish PM for last-ditch talks

Eine Bundesrepublik Syrien
(13.03.2016)

Kurds in Syria Ready to Negotiate With Damascus as Turkish Operation Looming – Official
„In order for the AANES to continue to safeguard the people‘s rights and play a role in all Syria, an agreement with Damascus is necessary. This is why we have repeatedly tried, either directly or through Russia, to hold dialogue with Damascus and reach a political agreement to end the Syrian crisis and confront the agendas seeking the division of the Syrian territory“, Badran Jiakurd, an adviser to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, said.
US official tells @NBCNews no US troops have left Syria. They are not packing. No orders to pack. So, Trump’s apparent green light to Turkey for a military operation against the Kurds has trigged confusion and panic, but not real change, for now.
Pat Robertson is „appalled“ by Trump‘s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northern Syria: „The President of the United States is in great danger of losing the mandate of Heaven if he permits this to happen.“
Trump: ‘We’re Leaving Syria’ – Neocons Go Nuts!
President Trump has indicated that he will fulfill one of his central campaign promises – to get the US out of the endless wars in the Middle East and elsewhere. He has directed US troops to begin withdrawing from parts of northeast Syria in advance of an expected Turkish incursion into the region. Neocons screech that this will mean a comeback for ISIS and that abandoning the Kurds is treachery. They want to continue the “successful” Obama policy of eight years.
There are now soldiers serving in Afghanistan who weren‘t even alive when the war started. It‘s past time to end this conflict and #StopEndlessWar.
CVA on 18 years of US engagement in Afghanistan
As of today, American troops have been engaged in Afghanistan for 18 years—America’s longest war ever. This means today’s recruits may be sent to fight in a war that started before they were even born, and many of those currently deployed are likely too young to remember the events of 9/11.
There’s no question we were justified in responding to those attacks, and the men and women who have been sent to Afghanistan have served honorably. But our continued involvement in the region does not serve American interests and only works to destabilize the region further. After nearly two decades of fighting, thousands of lives lost, and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent, it is past time to bring our troops home.
Will the Supreme Court Hand Trump Even More Power?
The version of the “unitary executive” put forth by Mr. Trump, the Justice Department and the shareholders would open the door for a president to fire for any reason — even personal reasons unrelated to the public interest or even for no reason at all — any head of an administrative agency, including the heads of “independent agencies” like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as well as the Federal Reserve, the Federal Trade Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. (These agency heads are nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.)
Was will die Protestbewegung in Hongkong erreichen?
