Internationale Raumstation: ISS-Besatzung muss vorübergehend Schutz suchen
Roskosmos teilte mit, dass ihre Experten zwei Lecks an Bord der Internationalen Raumstation entdeckt hätten, für die Besatzung jedoch keine unmittelbare Gefahr bestehe. Das erste Leck sei rasch abgedichtet worden, und derzeit liefen die Vorbereitungen zur Abdichtung des zweiten. „Die Sicherheit der Besatzung und der Bordsysteme ist nicht gefährdet, der Druck an Bord der ISS ist stabil und wird auf dem vorgesehenen Niveau gehalten.“
Die NASA und Roskosmos – die beiden Hauptbetreiber der Station – streiten seit Monaten über die Ursache und mögliche Reparaturmaßnahmen für kleine Luftlecks im Servicemodul Swesda.
Astronauts on International Space Station take shelter in SpaceX Dragon as cosmonauts try to fix air leak
The four astronauts of SpaceX‘s Crew-12 mission are NASA‘s Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, Sophie Adenot of the European Space Agency and cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. They arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) in mid-February for a six-month stay.
They took shelter today in Crew-12‘s Dragon capsule „Freedom,“ along with NASA‘s Williams, who arrived at the station in late November aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
Williams flew with two crewmates on that Soyuz — cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev. They‘re presumably the ones who attempted the PrK leak fix today. (Stevens‘ X post did not mention who performed the repair or what exactly the operation entailed.)

NASA on Friday temporarily ordered astronauts to take shelter during repairs to fix a fresh leak aboard the International Space Station.
The five astronauts moved into the SpaceX capsule that is docked at the station while cosmonauts worked to fix the leak, which is on the Russian side of the orbiting laboratory.

Britain has begun using SpaceX‘s militarised satellite network Starshield, according to two people familiar with the matter, making it among the first countries outside the United States to adopt Elon Musk‘s government-focused variant of Starlink.
Starshield, developed for the U.S. government, is designed for military and intelligence missions with enhanced security features, while SpaceX‘s standard Starlink broadband service is aimed at consumer and commercial use.

Starshield terminals can connect to both commercial Starlink satellites and a separate, more secure constellation, also called Starshield, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Rashida Tlaib calls out Brian Mast for describing Lebanese civilians killed by Israel as terrorists
US Representative Rashida Tlaib rejected Republican representative Brian Mast’s claim that Lebanese civilians killed by Israel are “terrorists”.
The exchange occurred on Wednesday night during a US House of Representatives session following Tlaib‘s resolution to withdraw US troops from Lebanon, which Mast called “reckless and unserious”.
“Eleven children killed, injured every 24 hours in Lebanon. Are those children Hezbollah? Are those children terrorists?” Tlaib shot at Mast who continued to dismiss Tlaib and her call to protect civilians in Lebanon.
Track AIPAC, an American online project that tracks US political donations by organisations that are part of the Israel lobby, including Aipac, reported that Mast received $881,227 from pro-Israel PACs as of April 2026.
House blocks Rep. Rashida Tlaib‘s war powers resolution on Lebanon
The resolution, introduced by Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, directs the president to remove U.S. armed forces „from Lebanon“ within seven days of the measure‘s adoption. It failed in a 92 to 324 vote, with two voting present.
„Currently, there are no U.S. servicemembers involved in combat operations or hostilities in Lebanon,“ House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar said in a statement before the vote.

House Democrats voted unanimously on Wednesday against continuing the Iran war without congressional approval — but a day later, Democratic leaders helped defeat a similar measure aimed at Israel’s parallel war in Lebanon.
The second measure failed 324-92 Thursday afternoon, a day after passage of a war powers resolution focused on Iran sent a message to the Trump administration.
Ninety-one Democrats voted for the measure sponsored by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., to block U.S. support for Israel’s assault on Lebanon. 117 Democrats voted against.
Lebanon death toll since early March increases to 3,558
At least 3,558 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon since March 2, according to the latest figures from Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Another 10,870 people have been wounded over the same period.
Israeli strikes on Lebanon‘s Tyre kill six people
Israeli strikes overnight on the historic southern Lebanese city of Tyre, known as Sour in Arabic, killed at least six people, a civil defence source told Middle East Eye on Friday.
One strike near Jabal Amel hospital killed four people, wounded seven others and caused minor damage to the facility, the source said.
A second strike on a residential area killed three people and wounded five, including a child.

Operation Rubicon: How the CIA and BND Spied on the World

Operation Rubicon was a joint covert operation carried out by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the West German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) during the Cold War. The operation involved the acquisition and operation of a Swiss company called Crypto AG, which was a leading manufacturer of encryption machines used by governments, militaries, and intelligence agencies around the world.
Under Operation Rubicon, the CIA and BND secretly purchased Crypto AG and then modified the encryption machines to allow the intelligence agencies to eavesdrop on the communications of foreign governments and intelligence services that used the machines. The operation reportedly began in the 1950s and continued until the early 2000s.
The operation was considered one of the most successful and longest-running espionage operations of the Cold War, allowing the CIA and BND to intercept and decipher sensitive communications from numerous countries, including Iran, Argentina, and Libya. However, the operation was eventually exposed in 2020 through investigative reporting by several news organizations, leading to widespread criticism of the intelligence agencies involved and calls for greater transparency and accountability in intelligence operations.

Im Internet sind alle gleich, so dachten noch zu Beginn des Millenniums viele Menschen hoffnungsvoll. Als es Ende der 1950er-Jahre von militärischen Thinktanks aus nach und nach in die Wissenschaft und eine zunächst noch kleine Öffentlichkeit fand, glich das Internet einer Utopie. Hinter der Maske der Anonymität sollten alle Nutzer*innen gleich sein und somit alle die gleichen Rechte haben. Keine Hierarchien – auch nicht zwischen den User*innen in verschiedenen Ländern.
Doch diese Hoffnung vom Internet als einem diskriminierungsfreien Raum bleibt bis heute eine Illusion. Im Gegenteil: Machtstrukturen sind schon in der technischen Infrastruktur fest angelegt. Sie führen die Geschichte des Kolonialismus auch in der virtuellen Sphäre fort: in Gestalt des „digitalen“ oder „elektronischen Kolonialismus“.

Everyone is equal on the Internet; at least that’s what many people optimistically thought at the beginning of the millennium. When it gradually found its way in the late 1950s from military think tanks into academia and then initially a small public sphere, the Internet was considered a utopia. Hidden behind the mask of anonymity, all users would be equal and therefore would all have equal rights. There would be no hierarchies – not even among users in different countries.
Yet this hope that the Internet would be a non-discriminatory space remains an illusion to this day. Quite to the contrary, power structures are already firmly established in its technical infrastructure. They continue the history of colonialism in the virtual sphere in the form of “digital” or “electronic colonialism.”

The race to put computing infrastructure in orbit is accelerating as hyperscalers across cloud, AI, and space compete to see who will emerge winners in what many believe will fuel the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The last few months have been a flurry of orbital data announcements, from SpaceX filing for a constellation of up to 1 million satellites to create an orbital data center and collaborating with AI giant Anthropic. Google is exploring Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) clusters in space. Starcloud has plans for an 88,000-satellite constellation aimed at delivering on-orbit compute at scale, to name a few.
Starlink Has Privatized Geopolitics

Starlink is far more than a commercial connectivity service. It is strategic infrastructure that increasingly shapes how wars are fought, how states manage internal unrest, and how criminal networks operate in ungoverned spaces. What makes Starlink so politically consequential is not just its globe-spanning reach but also the governance model behind it.
A private company is now a gatekeeper in orbit, helping decide who connects as well as where, under what conditions, and with what technical constraints. In a growing number of conflicts, these decisions carry military and political effects that states struggle to replicate or control. If many strategic supply chains now depend on private firms, Starlink is an unusually concentrated case of private discretion over public security functions.
