Recently Haaretz’s weekend edition published a long interview, seven pages in the Hebrew version, with the veteran Communist Party of Israel leading member Tamar Gozansky, a former Hadash MK. She entered the Knesset in July 1990 as a replacement for veteran Hadash MK Tawfik Toubi and retained her seat in the 1992 elections, after which she chaired the Knesset’s joint committee on early childhood. She was reelected in 1996 and again chaired the joint committee on early childhood. Following a third re-election in 1999 she became chairwoman of the committee on the rights of the child and the special committee for school dropout rates.

New Left and Antiwar Movement History and Geography
Antiwar and countercultural activism by millions of young people of every backgound turned campuses and cities into both battle grounds and zones of social and cultural innovation while helping to bring down two presidents and rearranging both the Democratic and Republican Parties. The impact of these movements registered widely: in the military which had to be redesigned to operate without conscription; in mass media which scrambled to recapture a generation that had discovered underground newspapers; and especially in the new ways that many Americans would from then on view their nation‘s institutions and role in the world.
Hadash and the Communist Party of Israel Slams Trump’s Calls to Ethnically Cleanse Gaza
According to Hadash MK Aida Touma-Sliman, “Trump’s Imperialist plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza and take it under American occupation is a declaration of another criminal war on the Palestinian people of Gaza. The people of Gaza will stay on their land, and they will rebuild it.” According to Hadash MK Ofer Cassif, “Facing the notion of Arab deportation and exile — ‘transfer’ — we must stand up and say sharply and simply: It will be impossible because we will not allow it. Even if we must lie down under the wheels of trucks. Even if we must blow up the bridges. There will be no mass deportation by force, because we will not allow it to happen, internationally known author Amoz Oz wrote this statement in his 1990 Manifesto ‘On Democracy and Obedience’.” “Now is the time to follow his wisdom and humanity and unite under one calling: No transfer, no ethnic cleansing, yes to peace and a Palestinian State!”, he added.
How the South Korean president‘s martial law declaration unfolded
(December 3, 2024)
After South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law in the country, thousands of protesters took to the streets alongside the leading opposition Democratic party, urging MPs to head to the national assembly and vote it down.
Following a dramatic night in which soldiers attempted to block MPs from entering parliament, lawmakers unanimously adopted a bill rejecting the martial law declaration, prompting the president to backtrack. Here is how the night unfolded in Seoul
Who’s the traitor here?
(January 8, 2025)
Eighteen People Power Party (PPP) lawmakers who broke through police barricades to vote in favor of repealing martial law have since been labeled traitors. So too have the 12 alleged lawmakers who supported President Yoon‘s impeachment. Recently, acting President Choi Sang-mok faced similar accusations after appointing two Constitutional Court justices. But this raises a critical question: Who is betraying whom?
Without the actions of those 18 lawmakers, the PPP would remain tarnished by its complicity in shielding martial law. Without Choi’s decision, the impeachment trial could have descended into a legal quagmire, leaving the nation paralyzed.
NYU Imposes One-Year Suspensions on 11 Students for Protesting Gaza Genocide
On Dec. 11, over a dozen NYU students and faculty dropped flyers and hung banners throughout the Bobst Library while 13 people sat in on the administrative floor of thelibrary. The actionists were demanding a meeting with administrators, who had, in the spring during the Gaza solidarity encampment movement at NYU, promised students to disclose the university’s endowment, including all its investments in weapons manufacturers and ties to Israel and companies that profit off its occupation of Palestine.
The direct action was organized by student group Shut It Down NYU, which challenges what it sees as NYU’s ties to imperialism. Not only were the students’ demands ignored, but yesterday, 11 of them were suspended for a year on the pretext of participating “in coordinated and collective disruptive action” — the non-violent action at the library. Several more NYU students are currently going through disciplinary proceedings that could result in similar punishments.
Here is the press release we received from Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine:
Awakening From Empire Propaganda Starts With One Small Act Of Heresy
And it just takes one. One well-placed spotlight on one obvious plot hole is all it takes to get someone pulling on a thread that will eventually unravel the whole matrix of delusion for them. And once they’re awake, they can join us in helping to wake up the others.
So make a vocation of being a serial blasphemer. Get people asking the inconvenient questions, and spark as many small acts of heresy as you can. People are only going to awaken from the imperial narrative matrix one pair of eyelids at a time, and we each have the opportunity to spend some time every day trying to help open them.
Israel deports two German citizens: Ben Gvir
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said that two „terrorist-supporting anarchists with German citizenship“ who allegedly entered an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank and „disturbed and clashed with soldiers“ have been deported.
“A special team that I established in the Israel police as soon as the war broke out acted with determination and speed to arrest and deport them,” the far-right minister wrote in a post on X.
“That’s the only way it works.”

Washington’s Israel Policy Is Just Feigning Ignorance Of Israeli Depravity
A war zone is a collapse in law and order where might makes right and whoever has the guns makes the rules. People who normally wouldn’t risk imprisonment for acting out their fantasies of torture and murder have the opportunity during wartime to become one of the people with the guns who make the rules. They have a helpless population at their fingertips to whom they can do anything they like.
War is the worst thing in the world. It’s the most insane thing humans do. So, so much of the trauma and dysfunction of our species are the lingering reverberations from wars which ended decades ago, passed down from generation to generation by soldiers returning home and by civilians who’ve been subjected to unfathomable abuse by those who found themselves free to do anything they want to them.
Do Something Every Day To Help De-Normalize The Abuses Of The Empire
One very important task we can undertake as citizens of the western empire is to help de-normalize the tyranny, murderousness and savagery that the imperial propagandists work to normalize.

NOTICE: As the night progresses, we have received word from someone arrested inside of Hamilton that NYPD stormed the building and proceeded to tackle and body slam protesters, and attacked them with batons, shields, and sound grenades. We ask all Columbia affiliates in proximity to NYPD to continue recording whatever they can.
We have put up the most glorious fight. We did not allow the movement to end with a false deal from Columbia.

Live Updates: Protesters Take Over Building on Columbia Campus
The protest was expanding after university officials had tried to ease the situation by suspending students who had refused to leave a pro-Palestinian encampment.
BREAKING: In a revolutionary nod to the 1968 uprisings, and in continuation of the campus legacy of resistance against complicity, Columbia students have begun occupying Hamilton Hall, the campus’s main administrative building, overseen by the university’s genocide profiteers.

Campus protests spread around the country
From coast to coast, calls to end the Israel-Hamas war are spreading on college campuses.
Pro-Palestinian Campus Encampments Spread Nationwide Amid Mass Arrests at Columbia, NYU & Yale
Palestinian solidarity protests and encampments are appearing on college campuses from Massachusetts to California to protest Israel‘s attacks on Gaza and to call for divestment from Israeli apartheid. This week, police have raided encampments and arrested students at Yale and New York University. Palestinian American scholar and New York University professor Helga Tawil-Souri describes forming a faculty buffer to protect students, negotiating with police, and the ensuing crackdown that led to over 100 arrests Monday night. Uptown in New York City, the encampment at Columbia University is entering its seventh day despite mass arrests of protesters last week.

“Speech, no matter how unpopular it may be, is the essence of academia. Protest against Zionism in Israel is pure protected speech. … If Jewish students are made uncomfortable by it, f— them!” Cohen, who was raised in an Orthodox Jewish home, told the Village Sun.
“Speech is supposed to make you uncomfortable. This is not lighting candles and kumbaya. … All speech is protected unless the imminent intent is to commit violence — like shouting ‘Fire!’ in a crowded movie theater,” he added. (…)

120 antiwar protesters arrested at NYU; Calif. students form barricade
At the University of Minnesota, police moved in during early-morning hours at the request of the institution, arrested nine people and cleared tents in a grassy expanse in front of the main library. That followed the arrest of 120 protesters at New York University on Monday night, according to the New York Police Department.
The developments at those two schools mirrored scenes at Columbia University on Thursday and Yale University on Monday. On the West Coast, California State Polytechnic University at Humboldt went into a lockdown after student protesters barricaded themselves inside a building.
It began with defiance at Columbia. Now students nationwide are upping their Gaza war protests
What began last week when Columbia University students refused to end their protest against Israel’s war with Hamas had turned into a much larger movement by Tuesday as students across the nation set up encampments, occupied buildings and ignored demands to leave.

The Elbit Eight carried out direct action protests under the banner of Palestine Action, to try and disrupt the flow of drones and other military equipment to Israel.
The case ended on 22 December, following a six-week trial held at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London.
Declaration of Conscience and Concern of Global Intellectuals on Gaza Genocide
Under these circumstances, this Declaration calls not only for the denunciation of Israel’s genocidal assault but also for taking effective action to permanently prevent its repetition. We come together due to the urgency of the moment, which obliges global intellectuals to stand against the ongoing horrific ordeal of the Palestinian people and, most of all, to implore action by those who have the power, and hence the responsibility, to do so. Israel’s continuing rejection of a permanent ceasefire intensifies our concerns.
Many weeks of cruel devastation caused by Israel’s grossly disproportionate response to the October 7 attack, continues to exhibit Israel’s vengeful fury. That fury can in no way be excused by the horrendous violence of Hamas against civilians in Israel or inapplicable claims of self-defense against an occupied population.
(…)
In addition, Israel has been greenlighting settler-led violence and escalating ethnic cleansing efforts in the West Bank. Given these developments we urge national governments to embargo and halt all shipments of weapons to Israel, especially the United States and the United Kingdom, which should also withdraw their provocative naval presences from the Eastern Mediterranean; we urge the UN Security Council and General Assembly to so decree without delay.

Peace vigil demanding DNC call for ceasefire in Gaza violently attacked by police
(16.11.2023)
Washington, DC — Washington, D.C. police violently attacked nonviolent anti-war activists at a ceasefire vigil outside a fundraiser event held by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Wednesday evening. Wielding pepper spray and pellet guns, the police rushed members of the interfaith vigil without warning, where some activists had blocked some of the doors of the Democratic DCCC’s candidate event, asking politicians to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The activists were joined by faith leaders in calling for a ceasefire to end the Israeli military’s massacre of Palestinians, to facilitate a hostage exchange, and to ensure that humanitarian and medical aid can reach Palestinians in besieged Gaza.
FAQs on Nov 15 Protest
What happened on November 15?
On November 15, a multi-faith group of nonviolent peace activists led a vigil to mourn the lives of Palestinians and Israelis killed since October 7, followed by a moral act of civil disobedience calling on Democrats to support a ceasefire to save lives, and to end our government’s funding of violence against Palestinian civilians by Netanyahu’s far-right government.
Police brutally attacked these nonviolent anti-war activists who were bringing their messaging for a ceasefire outside of a fundraiser event held by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Without any warning or request to disperse, the police rushed members of the interfaith vigil and protest, wielding pepper spray and pellet guns. Police threw protesters down the stairs, sprayed pepper spray, and hit protesters with bikes. They knocked one protester to the ground, dragged them by their hair, and then knocked them back down the steps.
Over 11,200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes and siege since October 7, including over 4,600 children.

This has continued unrelenting despite calls from world leaders and millions of people across the world for an end to this genocidal violence.
The hundreds of thousands converging in Washington DC will join people from across the globe to demand an immediate ceasefire, an end to all US aid to Israel, and an end to the over 16-year siege on Gaza.

Machsom Watch: About us
In January 2001, three Jewish Jerusalemite women first saw a military checkpoint in the West Bank and obeyed their conscience. From this point, MachsomWatch grew as an organization whose members are women of all walks of life in Israeli society. Within two years our number rose from 75 to 500, women were thoroughly convinced that with our activity we would put an end to the occupation.
We have no administration, are all volunteers and our decisions are made by voting in a plenary meeting.
Combatants for Peace: About Us
We are a group of Palestinians and Israelis who have taken an active part in the cycle of violence in our region: Israeli soldiers serving in the IDF and Palestinians as combatants fighting to free their country, Palestine, from the Israeli occupation. We – serving our peoples, raised weapons which we aimed at each other and saw each other only through gun sights – have established Combatants for Peace on the basis of non-violence principles.
CFP’s mission is to build the social infrastructure necessary for ending the conflict and the occupation: communities of Palestinians and Israelis working together through non-violent means to promote peace.
Mothers Against Violence: About us
Mothers Against Violence (MAV) are an Israeli network of women activists opposing the occupation and Israeli militarism from a feminine maternal perspective, training Israeli women to form local chapters of resistance and influence family and community members to refuse to participate in military service in the occupied territories.

The organizations involved include Standing Together, Peace Now, Breaking the Silence, and Combatants for Peace. The activists also placed stickers reading, „Caution! Terror supporters and architects of the [judicial] coup work in this building.“
Speaking to Haaretz, the activist who was detained – Nadav Weiman – said that a day before he was brought in for questioning, a person who took over his apartment lease in Tel Aviv called him and told him that three police officers knocked on his door looking for him. According to Weiman, police called him and asked him to come in for questioning only after they didn‘t find him in his apartment.
„March on Jerusalem“-organizers: NATO-coup in Ukraine and military coup in Egypt as a blueprint
Obviously, spies are trying to infiltrate Israel´s Democracy Movement that resists the judicial coup of Benyamin Netanyahu´s extreme right-wing government. That spies agenda seems to follow some „broad consensus“ of Mossad and CIA, demanded by US state leadership, to keep situation under control and safequard geostrategic goals.
An analysis and prognosis.
Israel’s Protests Are Creating a New People
Members of the governing coalition say the results of the election reflect the will of the people, but so do the demonstrations. Moreover, since their inception demonstrations have had a place in the political imagination of democracy. According to political philosopher Hannah Arendt, demonstrations are “spaces of appearance” that serve as the antithesis to displays of power by totalitarian regimes.
Israelis Mobilize Largest Protest in Weeks Ahead of Monday‘s Knesset Vote on Key Judicial Coup Bill
Speakers at the main protest in Tel Aviv included protest leader Shikma Bressler and Prof. Yuval Noah Harari. Bressler warned that the government is “rushing towards a dictatorship and the destruction of the country,” and that “this coming Monday, it intends to pass, in a first vote, the cancellation of the reasonableness standard.”
Referring to the day of resistance planned for Tuesday, Bressler told demonstrators: “We will take to the streets en masse, with unparalleled determination, in a legal and non-violent struggle. I emphasize – non-violent. We call on the public to prepare for a prolonged and persistent struggle.”
The Enemy From Within
America is a stratocracy, a form of government dominated by the military. It is axiomatic among the two ruling parties that there must be a constant preparation for war. The war machine’s massive budgets are sacrosanct. Its billions of dollars in waste and fraud are ignored. Its military fiascos in Southeast Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East have disappeared into the vast cavern of historical amnesia. This amnesia, which means there is never accountability, licenses the war machine to economically disembowel the country and drive the Empire into one self-defeating conflict after another. The militarists win every election. They cannot lose. It is impossible to vote against them. The war state is a Götterdämmerung, as Dwight Macdonald writes, “without the gods.”
If There Was Ever a Time for Israel‘s Protesters to Wake Up, It‘s Now
If there was a time to wake up, once again, with all our strength against the judicial coup – that time is now. This is not a drill; it‘s back with us. The protest leaders promised in the beginning that they „sleep with their boots on.“ Now it‘s time to put ours on.
