How Israel‘s Resurgent Right Wing Killed Politics, Silenced the Left, and Pushes Autocracy – or Theocracy
In Israel‘s Orwellian elections, national ‚unity‘ means no Arabs, self-censorship is rife, ‚freedom‘ is vague and fear is a core political asset
Tonight I learned that you may innocently use two everyday words in a discussion that had nothing to do with Jews, Jewishness or even race at all, but because Stalin used the same words to attack Jews 70 years ago, your comment will be considered anti-Semitic. Utterly insane.
Impossible to overestimate the damage @UKLabour‘s #Brexit betrayal will do to the socialist cause. The message people will take away is: if it‘s not even possible to contest membership of a free trade area, how is one supposed to believe that it‘s possible to contest capitalism?
Exclusive: Liam Fox tells Tory MPs that Customs Union will be ‚worst of both worlds‘ in leaked letter
Liam Fox has told Tory MPs that a Customs Union is the „worst of both worlds“ and will leave Britain unable to set its own trade policy in a leaked letter obtained by The Telegraph.
The International Trade Secretary said that the UK will itself be „traded“ by the European Union as it sells access to British markets as part of future deals after Brexit.
European far-right parties unite into new alliance ahead of EU elections
The group includes Mr Salvini’s League, as well as France‘s far-right National Rally (formerly National Front), Austria‘s Freedom Party and the Netherland‘s Party for Freedom. Those parties have long sat together in the European Parliament.
But Mr Salvini was also joined on Monday by the far-right Alternative for Germany‘s co-leader Joerg Meuthen, Olli Kotro of the Eurosceptic populist Finns party, and Anders Vistisen of the right-wing, populist Danish People‘s Party.

European elections are happening and they will be the most important in British history
Pro-Brexit MPs, whether they voted to leave or to remain, have long feared that holding European elections would provoke a political backlash. One MP in a marginal constituency recently told me that their constituents would “burn my office to the ground” when they received their polling cards in the mail.
Nein means NEIN! Merkel ‚will rebuff May‘s desperate pleas‘ in Berlin as Macron vows to get even TOUGHER on year-long Brexit delay with a ‚stop Boris‘ clause to prevent a new Brexiteer PM ‚vandalizing‘ the EU

Brexit news: Behave to earn long Article 50 extension, EU set to tell Theresa May
Theresa May was today ordered by Germany and France to accept “very strict” conditions in return for a Brexit delay.
In a fresh humiliation, the Prime Minister was told she can only have a longer extension of Article 50 if Britain is bound by a good behaviour contract.
As a commentator on Israel and Jewish life, I think I owe it to my readers on the eve of Israel‘s elections to tell readers where I stand. So here‘s my case: „Don‘t Vote for Bibi, Israel‘s Eminently Dispensable Man“

(4.4.2019)
Frustrated over their choices in the Israeli election, and at Arab politicians whom they describe as ineffective, some Palestinian citizens of Israel have been gathering popular support for a boycott of Tuesday’s ballot.
But a well-known Palestinian hip-hop artist released a powerful new video on Thursday pushing back on the boycott, urging Arab citizens not to waste their votes — and expressing hope that a strong turnout on Tuesday could help send Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu packing, or even “to prison.”
