Flotilla oggi in Senato con M5S sponsor.

“If They Block the Flotilla, We Block Everything!”: Italian Dockworkers Prepared to Strike for the Global Sumud Flotilla

(September 2, 2025)

The Global Samud Flotilla has set sail to break the siege on Gaza, under threat of interception and repression by the Israeli state. In response, Italian dockworkers have announced that they are prepared to shut down the dock of Genoa, should Israel stop the flotilla from delivering aid to Gaza.

Italian Dockworkers Threaten to ‘Shut Down All of Europe’ If Gaza Aid Flotilla Is Blocked

(September 2, 2025)

Speaking at a procession in the port of Genoa – one of Italy’s two largest commercial ports – on behalf of the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB), a syndicate of various grassroots unions in Italy and thought to be the largest of its kind, the dockworker said: “If we lose contact with our boats, with our comrades – even for just 20 minutes – we will shut down all of Europe.”

“Our young women and men must come back without a scratch, and all this cargo, which belongs to the people and is going to the people, must reach its destination, down to the very last box.”

In Genoa, 50,000 people greet the Global Sumud Flotilla boats departing for Gaza.

(September 1, 2025)

Yesterday was an exciting day in Genoa, with a huge celebration that began in the afternoon at the Music for Peace headquarters, one of the collection points for the 300 tons of aid brought by the Genoese and arriving from other Italian cities and even abroad, amid a constant flow of people. Forty tons were expected, and part of it will be reserved for Sudan, where a terrible and little-discussed humanitarian crisis is underway. Volunteers worked tirelessly to pack the enormous quantity of basic necessities, a tangible sign of a wave of generous popular solidarity, contrasting with the cowardice and inertia of European governments, incapable of reaching an agreement to stop Israel.

UNIFIL statement on attack on peacekeepers clearing roadblocks (3 September 2025)

Yesterday morning, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) drones dropped four grenades close to UNIFIL peacekeepers working to clear roadblocks hindering access to a UN position close to the Blue Line.

This is one of the most serious attacks on UNIFIL personnel and assets since the cessation of hostilities agreement of last November.

One grenade impacted within 20 metres and three within approximately 100 metres of UN personnel and vehicles. The drones were observed returning south of the Blue Line.

The IDF had been informed in advance of UNIFIL’s road clearance work in the area, southeast of the village of Marwahin. Out of concern for the safety of peacekeepers following the incident, yesterday’s work was suspended.

Any actions endangering UN peacekeepers and assets, and interference with their mandated tasks are unacceptable and a serious violation of Resolution 1701 and international law. It is the responsibility of the IDF to ensure safety and security of the peacekeepers performing Security Council-mandated tasks.

Pedro Sánchez: Europe’s response to war in Gaza has been a failure

“What we’re now witnessing in Gaza is perhaps one of the darkest episodes of international relations in the 21st century, and in this regard what I have to say is that Spain has been very vocal within the EU and also within the international community,” he said. “Within the EU, what we have done so far is advocate to suspend the strategic partnership that the EU has with Israel.”

Maduro: No one believes Marco Rubio‘s lies against Venezuela

In this regard, he said that imperialism attacks Venezuela with the threat of its warships for two reasons: „One is that they come for Venezuela‘s wealth. They come for the oil, for the world‘s largest oil reserves. The fourth largest gas reserves, they come for the natural reserves, for our soil,“ he listed.

„The second is that they are here for Simón Bolívar‘s project. They want to try to root out the great liberation project, so that the example doesn‘t spread to the world,“ he reflected.

He added that the U.S. government doesn‘t want the world to see „that a country‘s budget isn‘t spent on wars, it‘s invested in education, youth, and progress.“

What Large-Scale US Military Action Against Venezuela Could Look Like

Venezuela would struggle to hit back with its small, dubiously effective aircraft fleet, „under-serviced frigates“ and an „aging submarine,“ Solar said. The U.S. would likely come out as the victor in a second wave of torpedoes, guided munitions and surface-to-air missiles the deployed force boasts, Solar said.

U.S. kills 11 in strike on alleged drug vessel from Venezuela, Trump says

In a secret assessment in April, U.S. intelligence agencies said that Maduro’s government “probably does not have a policy of cooperating with TDA and is not directing TDA movement to and operations in the United States.” Rather, the assessment said, the Venezuelan regime, while sometimes tolerating the gang’s activities inside Venezuela, largely views it as a potential security threat.

The assessment contradicted Trump’s claim that Maduro controls the group, a rationale he used in invoking the Alien Enemies Act as justification to deport alleged gang members without due process.

Appeals court blocks Trump‘s use of Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelans

The ruling barred the use of the act in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana, which fall under the Fifth Circuit‘s purview. The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Justice Department will almost certainly appeal to the wider appeals court or the Supreme Court.

Trump deployment of military troops to Los Angeles was illegal, judge rules in blistering opinion

Experts say the ensuing judicial dust-up it will clarify precedent in a murky corner of the law. But some warn it could also unearth a road map for future deployments in cities across the U.S.

“If Breyer sides with Newsom and the 9th Circuit sides with Trump, we now have a playbook to use the National Guard and maybe the military around the country,” said Mark P. Nevitt, a law professor at Emory University and one of the country’s foremost experts on the law at the heart of the case.

“He’d have a ruling from the most liberal circuit in America giving the legal go-ahead for this deployment,” Nevitt said. “That would make bad law for the country.”
