Peace is even more difficult, he observed, „when arms production, sales, and trade are on the rise“ and public funds spent on arms can come at the expense of bread for the hungry. He decried „the interests and the profits that move the puppet strings of war.“ And these must be brought to light, „talked about and written about,“ he emphasised, since many have no idea how much of their public funds are being spent on weapons, whereas they should be informed.

I’ll never forget the reporting trips Masha and I made to Bucha, Ukraine, in early April: we witnessed bodies, some with arms bound behind their backs, strewn along a single street in this town on the outskirts of Kyiv. We decided to investigate who killed them. Eight months later, we know. Using exclusive phone records, documents, interviews and thousands of hours of video, we proved how a single paratrooper military unit, the 234th Air Assault Regiment, killed dozens of Ukrainians on Yablunska Street.

Russia and Ukraine may have agreed on a tentative deal to end the war in April, according to a recent piece in Foreign Affairs.
“Russian and Ukrainian negotiators appeared to have tentatively agreed on the outlines of a negotiated interim settlement,” wrote Fiona Hill and Angela Stent. “Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries.”
The news highlights the impact of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s efforts to stop negotiations, as journalist Branko Marcetic noted on Twitter.

1. Respecting the sovereignty of all countries. Universally recognized international law, including the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, must be strictly observed. The sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries must be effectively upheld. All countries, big or small, strong or weak, rich or poor, are equal members of the international community. All parties should jointly uphold the basic norms governing international relations and defend international fairness and justice. Equal and uniform application of international law should be promoted, while double standards must be rejected.
2. Abandoning the Cold War mentality. The security of a country should not be pursued at the expense of others. The security of a region should not be achieved by strengthening or expanding military blocs. The legitimate security interests and concerns of all countries must be taken seriously and addressed properly. There is no simple solution to a complex issue. All parties should, following the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security and bearing in mind the long-term peace and stability of the world, help forge a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture. All parties should oppose the pursuit of one‘s own security at the cost of others‘ security, prevent bloc confrontation, and work together for peace and stability on the Eurasian Continent.
3. Ceasing hostilities. Conflict and war benefit no one. All parties must stay rational and exercise restraint, avoid fanning the flames and aggravating tensions, and prevent the crisis from deteriorating further or even spiraling out of control. All parties should support Russia and Ukraine in working in the same direction and resuming direct dialogue as quickly as possible, so as to gradually deescalate the situation and ultimately reach a comprehensive ceasefire.

– Neutralität, also weder Mitgliedschaft im Nordatlantikpakt N.A.T.O., noch in der Europäischen Union. Modell ähnlich wie Yugoslawien und Finnland nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg.
– bestimmt nicht demilitarisiert, sondern bis an die Zähne bewaffnet, allerdings ohne Atomzähne jedweder Art, weder Entwicklung noch Stationierung
– nach Wahl der ukrainischen Regierungen bzw Parlamentsmehrheiten jeweils Handelspakte und Waffenlieferungen mit bzw durch E.U. und N.A.T.O., ähnlich wie mit der Schweiz oder Schweden.
langfristig:
– die Verfassungsänderung, die 2014 im letzten Moment abgewürgt wurde und den von N.A.T.O. und E.U. gestützten Putsch überhaupt erst auslöste und möglich machte: Föderalisierung der Ukraine und, als ein Angebot, maximale Autonomie für die heute abgespaltenen und faktisch vom russischen Staat besetzten Gebiete im Donbass. Ebenso ein Angebot in Form einer besonderen staatlichen Konföderation mit den separatistischen Regionen, inklusive Betretungsverbot von staatlichen ukrainischen bewaffneten Kräften (Militär, Geheimdienste, Polizei, etc) für die nächsten, sagen wir, 20 Jahre und Stationierung neutraler U.N.O.-Truppen aus hastunichgesehn (Südamerika oder so). Ebenso ein Angebot an die Russische Föderation, nach dem Modell Guantanamo in Kuba, für 99 Jahre exterritoriale Militär- und Marinestützpunkte Russlands auf der Krim zuzulassen und ein ähnliches Autonomie-Modell wie für den Donbass vorzuschlagen, bei offizieller staatlicher Hoheit der Ukraine über die Krim.

Sovereign independence and equality must be upheld, and efforts should be made for all countries to enjoy equality in terms of rights, rules and opportunities.
3. Stay committed to abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. The purposes and principles of the UN Charter embody the deep reflection by people around the world on the bitter lessons of the two world wars. They are humanity’s institutional design for collective security and lasting peace. The various confrontations and injustices in the world today did not occur because the purposes and principles of the UN Charter are outdated, but because they are not effectively maintained and implemented. We call on all countries to practice true multilateralism; firmly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, the international order underpinned by international law and the basic norms of international relations underpinned by the UN Charter; and uphold the authority of the UN and its status as the main platform for global security governance. The Cold War mentality, unilateralism, bloc confrontation and hegemonism contradict the spirit of the UN Charter and must be resisted and rejected.
7. Implement the five-point proposal on realizing peace and stability in the Middle East, including advocating mutual respect, upholding equity and justice, realizing non-proliferation, jointly fostering collective security, and accelerating development cooperation, so as to jointly establish a new security framework in the Middle East. Support the positive momentum and the efforts of Middle East countries to strengthen dialogue and improve their relations, accommodate the reasonable security concerns of all parties, strengthen the internal forces of safeguarding regional security, and support the League of Arab States (LAS) and other regional organizations in playing a constructive role in this regard. The international community should take practical steps to advance the two-state solution to the Palestinian question, and convene a larger, more authoritative and more influential international peace conference, so as to achieve a just solution to the Palestinian question at an early date.
