More than 50 MPs and Peers have joined me in urging David Lammy to immediately meet with the lawyers of those on hunger strike. The government needs to wake up, take responsibility, and show some humanity before it is too late.

Palestine Action is worth dying for, says hunger striker

In the telephone interview, he said: “But I’m looking at the bigger picture of perhaps we can relieve oppression abroad and relieve the situations for my codefendants. Yes, I’m scared of passing away. Yes, this may have lifelong implications. But I look at the risk versus reward. I see it as worthwhile.”

He added that he had become a “shell” of himself because he rejects food and drinks only water with salt.

He said his speech has become slurred, he has been getting regular chest pains to the point like he feels he is “getting Tasered” and his body has been shaking. He added that a nurse told him she was concerned that he would not wake up when he went to sleep.

UK prisoner on 42-day hunger strike says he fears death but will continue

An imprisoned Palestine Action activist who has been on hunger strike for 42 days has said he fears dying but believes the protest is worthwhile, according to an interview with The Sunday Times.

Kamran Ahmed, 28, spoke by telephone from HMP Pentonville in north London, where he is being held on remand. He is one of six Palestine Action activists refusing food while facing charges they deny, linked to alleged break-ins and criminal damage carried out before the group was banned under UK terrorism legislation.

Months ago, Annie Farmer reminded us how her sister Maria filed a complaint with the FBI in 1996 — and never heard back.

She argued more girls were harmed „that didn‘t need to be“ because of FBI inaction. Farmer had told the FBI that Epstein, who assaulted Maria, a figurative artist, and Ghislaine Maxwell had stolen photos of her younger sisters. Today‘s release confirms her complaint.

Epstein Files Include 1996 Child Porn Complaint That F.B.I. Ignored

(December 19, 2025)

The woman, Maria Farmer, has for years said that she had called federal investigators in the summer of 1996, but the F.B.I. had never publicly acknowledged her original report, even to Ms. Farmer. Some people following the Epstein case had accused her of inventing the story. After the release of thousands of Epstein files on Friday, The New York Times contacted Ms. Farmer about a report stamped with the date of Sept. 3, 1996. She broke down in tears.

“I’ve waited 30 years,” she said. “I can’t believe it. They can’t call me a liar anymore.”

Over 500 pages in initial Epstein files release were entirely blacked out, CBS News finds

One series of three consecutive documents — totaling 255 pages — is entirely redacted, with each page covered by a black box. A fourth 119-page document labeled „Grand Jury-NY“ is also entirely redacted.

At least 180 blacked-out pages appear in files that are mostly but not entirely redacted. In some cases, a cover page, a photo of a folder or something else that isn‘t fully redacted precedes several pages that are entirely obscured by a black box.

Lula Government Pushes Back Against Milei Over Map Depicting Brazil as a Favela and Takes Aim at Argentine Poverty

Vieira said that „the map posted by President Milei needs an urgent update“ and presented data favorable to Brazil without directly mentioning Argentina. The minister highlighted that under President Lula, the country „is modernizing and addressing its social problems,“ has a „growing economy, the lowest unemployment levels, international reserves of US$ 360 billion,“ and has exited the Hunger Map.

Vieira also noted that Brazil has had a „stable currency for 30 years“ and does not owe „a single cent to the IMF,“ while a government source pointed to Argentina’s financial difficulties.

In 2024, Milei’s first year in office, poverty in Argentina surged to 52.9%, later falling to 31.6% in the first half of the year—still higher than Brazil’s 23.1%. The IMF extended a US$ 20 billion loan to the country.

Nicaragua v. United States

The Case Concerning the Military and Paramilitary Activities in and Against Nicaragua (Nicaragua v. United States of America) (1986)[2] was a case where the International Court of Justice (ICJ) held that the U.S. had violated international law by supporting the Contras in their rebellion against the Sandinistas and by mining Nicaragua‘s harbors. The case was decided in favor of Nicaragua and against the United States with the awarding of reparations to Nicaragua.

(…)

In response to the ICJ‘s decision that US aid to the contra rebels violated international law, US State Department lawyer, Abraham Sofaer, said that the US would no longer recognize the ICJ‘s ‚compulsory jurisdiction‘ authority. Sofaer said „We felt the Nicaragua case was an unfortunate signal to us that we should be concerned about our security interests and about the use of the court for political-public relations purposes. . . . The President does not want the court used for those purposes–at the same time, he and others in this Administration want to continue to use the court for its intended purposes“. Paul Reichler, one of the lawyers representing Nicaragua in the case, said: „It‘s another indication that this Administration has no regard for international law–when international law conflicts with a foreign policy objective of the Administration, they will throw international law into the waste basket“.

No justice yet for Chad Joseph after US strike

When asked whether he assessed the risk of leaving at that time given that it was one month into the repeated US strikes, she answered, “I believe so, and he took that risk.”

When Guardian Media asked her why he took that risk, she responded, “I know about the sea law; I know since I was young. If it’s a boat, whatever, you’re supposed to stop it, see. The law is not to kill people. Wherever you are, you are not to kill people like that. This is the first time in my life, and I am 51 years old; I have never heard about this kind of stuff,” she said.

On having her son labelled a narco-trafficker, she responded, “Where is the proof? If it’s drugs, where is the proof? Where is it? You understand?”

Venezuela condemns second theft of oil tanker by the US

The Venezuelan government described the action as a serious act of piracy, noting that it constitutes the commission of the crime stipulated in Article 3 of the 1988 Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation.

He also denounced the operation as a violation of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations, Article 2 of the Geneva Convention on the High Seas, and the Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation between States.

(…)

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms that these acts will not go unpunished and will take all appropriate actions, including filing complaints with the United Nations Security Council, other multilateral organizations, and governments worldwide. International law will prevail, and those responsible for these grave acts will be held accountable before justice and history for their criminal conduct.

US seizes another vessel off Venezuela as Trump administration ramps up pressure on Caracas

The US seized a large oil tanker called the Skipper, which had been under sanctions for its ties to Iran, on December 10.

While Trump’s directive this week targeted sanctioned tankers, the vessel the US seized Saturday is not under US sanctions, the official said. The seizure wasn’t contested by the tanker’s crew.

The vessel was a Panamanian-flagged tanker carrying Venezuelan oil, according to the official, and was ultimately destined for Asia.
