Arab-Israeli normalisation should end after hospital attack: Palestinian party head

Mustafa Barghouti, the leader of the Palestinian National Initiative Party (PNI), has said that the attack on al-Ahli Arab hospital should make Arab countries rethink normalisations with Israel, which have been brokered by the US.

“I think it is absolutely shameful for any Arab government now to have an Israeli ambassador in their country,” said Barghouti, who co-founded the PNI as an alternative to the dominant Fatah and Hamas Palestinian political parties. “All the acts of normalization between Arab governments and Israel must be eliminated and canceled. This is the least they can do.”

“But also they should tell the United States that enough is enough,” he added.

Israel-Gaza conflict: Deepening concern for civilians, as UN school is hit

The head of the UN Palestine refugee agency (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini, has reported that at least six people were killed on Monday afternoon local time, when an UNRWA school being used as a shelter, was hit in the al-Maghazi camp in the middle region of the embattled Gaza Strip.

Dozens were injured (including UNRWA staff) and severe structural damage was caused to the school“, he said. „The numbers are likely to be higher. This is outrageous, and it again shows a flagrant disregard for the lives of civilians.“

Human Rights Organizations raise a loud and clear voice against the harming of all innocent civilians

12 October 2023

We, members of the undersigned human rights organizations in Israel, are shocked and horrified in these dreadful days.
Hamas’ horrific crimes against innocent civilians – including children, women, and the elderly – have shaken us all, and we are struggling to recover from the unbearable sights and sounds. Some of us were in the Israeli communities on the Gaza border during the assault; many of us have family, friends, and colleagues who endured and are still in the midst of the harrowing events; and we all know people who were murdered, injured, or abducted. It will take time to fully understand the implications and consequences of Hamas’ heinous attack, for which there can be no justification.

17.10.2023 - 19:50 [ Zazim.org ]

Statement by members of the human rights community in Israel

(13.10.2023)

We call for the immediate release of all hostages and an end to the bombardment of civilians in Israel and in Gaza. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach civilian populations, medical facilities and places of refuge must not be harmed, and vital resources such as water and electricity must not be cut off. The killing of additional civilians will not bring back those who were lost. Indiscriminate destruction and a siege harming innocents will not bring relief, justice, or calm.

Announcement of human rights organizations in Israel, October 2023

(15.10.2023)

As individuals working to promote human rights and who believe in the sanctity of life, we urgently call for an end to all indiscriminate harming of civilian lives and infrastructure. We call for negotiations and all possible action to be taken to bring about the release of the hostages – while prioritizing the civilians held by Hamas. It is the only humane and rational thing to do, and it must be done now.

17.10.2023 - 18:50 [ Association for Civil Rights in Israel ]

We, Members of the Undersigned Human Rights Organizations in Israel, are Shocked and Horrified.

(15.10.2023)

Most of our teams include Israelis and Palestinians; therefore, some of us have relatives and colleagues in Gaza currently living under the ongoing assault of the Israeli military. Children, women, and the elderly are being indiscriminately attacked with nowhere to hide.

Even now – especially now – we must maintain our moral and humane position and refuse to give in to despair or the urge for vengeance. Keeping our faith in the human spirit and its inherent goodness is more vital than ever. One thing is clear: We will never surrender our belief in humanity – even now, when doing so is more challenging than ever.

A Land for All: Shared and Agreed Principles

One Land, Two States

Palestine/the Land of Israel is one historic and geographic unit, stretching from the Jordan River to the sea. In it, two sovereign states will exist – Palestine and Israel, where the two people will realize their right of self-determination. The border between the two states will be drawn according to the June 4, 1967 border, thus bringing a complete end to the occupation.
2.

Democracy, Human Rights, Rule of Law

The two states will be democracies; their governments will be founded on the principle of rule of law and recognition of the universality of human rights, as recognized by international law, based on the principles of equality, freedom and the sanctity of human life.

Emek Shaveh: About Us

Emek Shaveh is an Israeli NGO working to defend cultural heritage rights and to protect ancient sites as public assets that belong to members of all communities, faiths and peoples. We object to the fact that the ruins of the past have become a political tool in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and work to challenge those who use archaeological sites to dispossess disenfranchised communities. We view heritage site as resources for building bridges and strengthening bonds between peoples and cultures and believe that archaeological sites cannot constitute proof of precedence or ownership by any one nation, ethnic group or religion over a given place.

Where There is Struggle There is HOPE

Standing Together is a grassroots movement mobilizing Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel in pursuit of peace, equality, and social and climate justice. While the minority who benefit from the status quo of occupation and economic inequality seek to keep us divided, we know that we — the majority — have far more in common than that which sets us apart. When we stand together, we are strong enough to fundamentally alter the existing socio-political reality. The future that we want — peace and independence for Israelis and Palestinians, full equality for all citizens, and true social, economic, and environmental justice — is possible. Because where there is struggle, there is hope.

Akevot Institute for Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Research: What We Do

Akevot Institute for Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Research was founded in 2014 out of a recognition of the unique role archives can play in breaking conflict-enhancing myths, fostering fact-based discourse, and supporting the work of human rights defenders. We make archives a tool for change by researching and exposing mechanisms, processes and events who play a role in the perpetuation of the Conflict. We assist human rights defenders and civil society organizations in accessing archival documentation relevant to their work. We campaign to expand the public’s access to government archives to promote transparency and freedom of information.

17.10.2023 - 16:03 [ Women Wage Peace ]

Women Wage Peace: Mission Statement

The movement Women Wage Peace functions on the basis of these ten principles:

1

All actions serve to further the two goals of the movement, a negotiated agreement ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with full participation of women in all aspects of peace making and ensuring security. Thus member(s) must present a rationale for every activity she/they wish to include in WWP’s yearly program.

2

We refrain from criticism including criticism of political leaders, and support positive action directed toward negotiation of a peaceful resolution of the conflict. This approach is based on the belief that action to further a political agreement is both possible and beneficial for the future of Israel.

3

We are non-partisan; the movement’s purpose is to create a consensus among the majority of Israeli citizens, regardless of their political affiliations or loyalties, in the belief that we all have common interests, desires and needs for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. We do not, therefore, support any political party or individual identified with any party and we do not campaign on behalf of any individual or party.

Mehazkim: About Us

Revolutions start online

‘Mehazkim’ [in Hebrew: ‘Strengthening’ or ‘Empowering’] is a progressive digital movement working to promote the values, ideas and solutions of the Israeli left. We are leading struggles for a more democratic Israel through effective digital campaigns and inclusive collaborations.

Winning Together

We established ‘Mehazkim’ because we realized that it is impossible to win alone; Because we were sick and tired of hiding and being afraid in the face of incitement and violence directed against us for years. Mehazkim aspires to be the main political and digital force of activists, organizations, initiatives and protests, as well as of ordinary citizens who feel empowered to act for a better Israel.

Strengthening the Israeli Left

The Israeli conservatives uses a variety of methods to dominate the agenda and produce a false representation of public support for nationalistic and illiberal ideas. We started as a small group of activists, and became a movement that works with all members of the broad democratic camp through innovative digital campaigns.

We are here to strengthen the left and to strengthen Israel – this is what we do.

CFP’s mission is to build the social infrastructure necessary for ending the conflict and the occupation: communities of Palestinians and Israelis working together through non-violent means to promote peace.

About Yesh-Gvul

Yesh Gvul was founded in 1982 with the outbreak of the First Lebanon War, as a refusal movement of soldiers in the reserves force.
Its first petition, which would define the movement’s trajectory, reads:
„[…] you are trying to solve the Palestinian problem by warfare … to impose a ‘new order’ on the ruins of Lebanon, to spill our blood and the blood of others for the sake of the Phalange. That is not why we enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces.”
Close to 3,000 reservists signed the petition, 160 of whom were jailed for refusing to serve on Lebanese territory. Yesh Gvul supported the first Lebanon War refuseniks, most of whom were selective objectors, and worked to influence public opinion against waging wars in Lebanon. Ever since, the movement has helped soldiers who refuse to serve or are considering refusal, as well as their families.
