“There are immediate litmus tests that we are failing, and the cost is counted in millions of lives, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Sudan, Ukraine and elsewhere. How to stop Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip should be at the forefront of everyone’s mind. It cannot be business as usual while Israel deliberately starves and annihilates a population before our very eyes. We need rock-solid political will to end this hellish nightmare, with states applying robust diplomatic and economic pressure on Israel to end its unlawful occupation of the Palestinian territory – just as the UN General Assembly mandated in a resolution 12 months ago – and stop the genocide and its cruel system of apartheid against all Palestinians whose rights Israel controls.”
On September 18, Amnesty International will publish research naming 15 major US, Chinese, Spanish, South Korean and Israeli firms that are contributing to or directly linked to Israel’s crimes under international law. The briefing will contain detailed calls on states and companies to uphold their obligations and responsibilities under international law and standards.
“There can frankly be very little doubt that we are seeing starvation and hunger as an instrument of the war,” he told MEE.
“There is no prior experience in my five decades of humanitarian experience that can come close to comparison to the horror we are all seeing in Gaza,” he said.
“The UN announcement, based on serious hospital data, that people are fainting in the street from hunger and malnutrition, tells us all we need to know.
“It is a historic fact that children die first in these circumstances. Our humanity cannot believe our eyes.”
Israel’s siege on Gaza since 2 March has blocked the entry of humanitarian supplies by the UN and its partner organisations to the enclave, bringing the 2.1 million population to the brink of famine.
Reacting to the EU’s decision not to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement, Agnès Callamard Amnesty International’s Secretary General said:
“The EU’s refusal to suspend its agreement with Israel is a cruel and unlawful betrayal – of the European project and vision, predicated on upholding international law and fighting authoritarian practices, of the European Union’s own rules and of the human rights of Palestinians.
This will be remembered as one of the most disgraceful moments in the EU’s history.

On Saturday, groups of activists will gather for a series of protests coordinated by the campaign group Defend Our Juries (DOJ) in London, Manchester and Cardiff. An independently organised protest will also be staged in Derry in Northern Ireland.
Protesters plan to hold signs reading: “I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.“
This follows the arrest of 29 people under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act, including an 83-year-old retired priest and an emergency worker, for holding the same signs in Parliament Square last weekend.

Doctor Victoria Rose and Tom Potokar speak from the hospitals frequently coming under Israeli military fire.
“I want the world to know that Palestine has writers, artists, thinkers and, most importantly, lovers. I want the world to know that we are humans just like you.” So writes Anas Jnena in one of the many poignant stories featured in this important and timely collection.
The voices of Gaza’s youth have been palpably missing in the ongoing war.
They have been reduced to grim statistics by a media overwhelmed by the brutality of the ongoing genocide that has claimed the lives of more than 52,000 Palestinians to date.
In an interview with the BBC‘s Laura Kuenssberg, the Tory leader threw her support behind Israel‘s decision, arguing that „every country should be allowed to police its own borders“.
The MPs were travelling to the occupied West Bank, which the UK government recognises as occupied Palestinian territory.
„If you look at the reasons why the Israeli government has given for why they’re not letting them in, they don’t believe that they’re going to comply with their laws,“ Badenoch added.

The rules affect thousands of businesses of all sizes worldwide, far exceeding the scope of the EU’s Digital Safety Act (DSA) and similar online safety frameworks. Companies that view the OSA as the “UK‘s DSA” may be surprised to learn that it applies to a much wider range of tech businesses, not just the biggest global platforms.
In fact, it applies to more than 100,000 user-to-user (U2U) and search services providers that target the UK market or have many UK users — including social media apps, video sharing platforms (VSPs), private messaging apps, online marketplaces, gaming sites, search engines and others — even if they’re small or based overseas.

The act places new safety requirements on social media platforms, search engines, messaging, gaming and dating apps, and pornographic and file-sharing sites.
Websites and apps covered by the law have until March 16 of next year to “complete an assessment to understand the risks illegal content poses to children and adults on their platform,” the release said.
The law lists more than 130 “priority offenses.” Companies that fail to comply could be fined up to 10% of global annual turnover or up to 18 million pounds (about $22.8 million), whichever number is greater.

The UK‘s International Criminal Court Act, signed in 2001, enforces compliance with the court
Sir Keir Starmer has backed the International Criminal Court (ICC) after it issued an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister.
When asked about the issue, Sir Keir’s official spokesman said the Government respected the independence of the court.
He declined to say whether Mr Netanyahu would be arrested if he arrived in the UK.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry says Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have killed more than 3,000 people since October last year.
As Israel continues its intense bombardment, one of Lebanon’s main cities in the south, Nabatieh, is now largely empty.
Israel ordered the entire city to evacuate in early October.
Despite this, the city’s main hospital remains open, and emergency services are still operating for the approximately 200 families who remain there.
However, supporters of Ukraine argue the nation needs the ability to hit targets inside Russia to be able to stage an effective resistance – and point to Russia’s use of foreign-sourced munitions against cities in Ukraine.

Though several months have passed since Khan‘s application, ICC judges have not issued any arrest warrants.
Speaking to the BBC, Khan said it was important to show the court would hold all nations to the same standard in relation to alleged war crimes. He also welcomed the new UK government‘s recent decision to drop its opposition to the arrest warrants.
Khan pointed out that the same political leaders who had applauded the court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin had condemned the same being done for the Israeli leadership.
“We need to apply the law in a way that is equal, because if we don’t, and importantly if we’re not seen to, we’re going to lose all the architecture, not just the ICC, that has been built on human suffering since Nuremberg.”

The UK‘s new Online Safety Bill, which is set to take effect next year and aims to curb speculative news and online hate speech, has gained renewed attention after far-right groups used social media to incite violence.
The Workers Party of Britain (WPB), also called the Workers Party of Great Britain (WPGB) or Workers Party GB,[13][14][15] is a socialist political party in the United Kingdom, formed in December 2019 and led by George Galloway, the Member of Parliament for Rochdale since a 2024 by-election.

On September 19, 2023, the UK House of Commons passed the so-called „online safety bill“. This law puts everyone in reach, not just in Britain, under arbitary espionage by maximum cynic dialectic excuses (abuse of power because of abuse of power).
Who surrenders, surrenders. You do that on your own account.
