U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who leads the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and is in his fifth term, was defeated by Mamdaniâs most polarizing pick, Darializa Avila Chevalier, a democratic socialist who once helped organize pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.
U.S. Rep. Dan Goldman, a two-term incumbent, was beaten by the Mamdani-backed former city Comptroller Brad Lander, a fixture among New York progressives who has often shown sympathy to the democratic socialist movement. And another Mamdani ally, democratic socialist state Assembly Member Claire Valdez, defeated the handpicked successor of retiring U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez.
Immer dasselbe – in zeitlichen Schleifen, auratischen Wellen, historischen Episoden.

„Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law,“ the Indian lawyer and judge said.
The commission, which previously concluded that Israel bore responsibility for genocide in Gaza, found that children were targeted in two ways: directly, through precision weapons including quadcopters and sniper rifles, and indirectly, through the systematic destruction of the conditions necessary for their survival.
It named specific Israeli military units responsible for killings and urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prioritise crimes against children in its ongoing investigation.
Below, we highlight the report‘s key findings.
(June 24, 2026)
In a report published Tuesday, the commission â which last year concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza â found that Israeli military operations have continued causing âunprecedented death, injury and traumaâ to Palestinian children.
The commission describes what it says is the deliberate targeting of children as a key indicator of Israeli authoritiesâ genocidal intent to destroy the Palestinian people, including after a ceasefire in Gaza took effect.
âEven after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law,â said Srinivasan Muralidhar, chairman of the commission.
Two Senate Republicans who supported a previous resolution calling for an end to the US war on Iran changed their votes late Wednesday after President Donald Trump publicly and privately berated GOP lawmakers, calling them âlosersâ who provided âaid and comfort to the enemy.â
In Wednesdayâs procedural vote, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.)âwho reportedly got into a shouting match with Trump over the Iran war during a closed-door lunch hours earlierâsided with virtually every other Republican in opposing the war powers resolution, just a day after he supported a separate, symbolic resolution calling for the removal of US forces from the conflict. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) also switched, changing his vote to âpresentâ at the urging of the president.

Later in the day, however, signs emerged that some of the Senate Republicans who had previously voted to constrain Mr. Trump‘s war powers were reconsidering.
Cassidy was briefed on Iran at the White House by Vice President JD Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff, the senator confirmed on X, writing that the conversation „address[ed] many of my concerns.“ Cassidy voted against advancing the resolution Wednesday night.
And Paul voted present on Wednesday, despite voting in favor of the last several Iran war powers resolutions. He said on X his goal was to „give the President more space and leverage to negotiate a lasting peace.“

President Trump‘s meeting with Republican senators on Wednesday turned testy, and at one point, he sternly told Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy to sit down, after questions arose about the War Powers Resolution, according to sources directly familiar with the meeting.

Trump claims that his war on Iran doesnât need congressional approval because a cease-fire that took effect on April 8 effectively ended it. His Administration also argues that the 1973 law is âunconstitutionalâ and that the Administration only complies with parts of it to maintain good relations with the legislative branch.
Others, however, argue that Congressâ authority over declarations of war allows for the method. Rep. Gregory Meeks (D, N.Y.), the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee who sponsored the House war powers resolution, said in a statement that he will make sure that the Administration adheres to it: âRegardless of what President Trump says, this measure is binding under the War Powers Resolution, and I will explore all legal avenues to ensure the Executive complies with the will of Congress.â
GAZA, June 22, 2026 (WAFA) â Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the death toll from the Israeli military offensive on Gaza has risen to 73,035 Palestinians killed and 173,368 injured since October 2023.
According to the sources, hospitals across the Gaza Strip received the bodies of three Palestinians over the past 24 hours. Another 11 wounded Palestinians were also admitted for treatment.
The sources added that since the start of the current ceasefire on October 11, 2025, the number of Palestinians killed has reached 1,024, while the number of injuries has risen to 3,260. In addition, 784 bodies have been recovered from different areas of the Strip.
The epicenters, which USGS estimated to be about 3 miles apart, were near the town of MorĂłn on Venezuela‘s Caribbean coast, some 100 miles west of Caracas.

„This doesn‘t happen very often,“ Earle said. „When they‘re right together it‘s hard to understand what would happen.“
The strongest of the „doublet,“ as the USGS described the twin quakes, is the largest earthquake to strike Venezuela since 1900, when a 7.7-magnitude quake hit the country, according to USGS.
Published on Tuesday, the report was based on work by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI) on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, that took place last year. At that time, the commission concluded that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The COI‘s report also found that the „intense scale and systematic nature of the Israeli military operations have continued,“ causing unprecedented death, injury and trauma to Palestinian children. Israel denies the allegations and says the commission‘s report is propoganda meant to vilify the country.
A U.N. report released on Tuesday accused Israeli security forces of abuse and deliberate killings of Palestinian children eight months after Israel and Hamas reached a truce in the Gaza Strip.
The report was compiled by an independent commission of three senior international jurists who investigated the violence. It concluded that the killings were part of a strategy to destroy the future of Palestinians in Gaza and said that this amounted to genocide.
