Theresa May halts vote on new Brexit deal as her leadership enters ‚death spiral‘
Theresa May caved in to her Cabinet today by dramatically halting her Brexit withdrawal Bill in a move that heightened expectations she will resign as Tory leader tomorrow.
Tories urge Philip May to make the PM accept ‚reality‘ and QUIT after she humiliatingly PULLS her hated Brexit Bill – as the party faces disaster in EU elections today
MPs have been told the legislation will not now be published tomorrow and the second reading will not take place in the first week of June – despite Mrs May previously laying out the timetable.
The humiliating retreat is the clearest sign yet that Mrs May‘s time in power is drawing to a close, after fury at her compromise offer for the Commons to vote on whether to hold another Brexit referendum.

If May isn’t on her way out by the end of today, don’t back her in tomorrow’s European elections
(22.05.2019)
The Tory leadership knows this as well as you or I do, and is so embarrassed by it that it has scarcely campaigned. The Party’s website front page bears no reference to tomorrow’s poll. Its Twitter feed is so embarrassed that it has put up plugs for the cause only over the last 24 hours. At least one campaigning leaflet doesn’t mention Brexit at all.
A single photo sums the situation up – of a despondent May leaving the stage, at a campaign launch with no audience present and a single journalist reporting, while Ashley Fox winces in the background and three cheerless other candidates fail to raise a single smile between them. It is the photographic equivalent of clinical depression.
The European Parliament is a democratic facade for a system dominated by unelected bureaucrats
In the speech I made on that occasion, I tried to point out that democracy was not achieved simply by holding elections; what mattered was what the elections were to, and for. Were we electing representatives to a body by which we agreed to be governed? Or were we simply providing a democratic facade for a political system dominated by unelected bureaucrats and central bankers, who exercised a power of government over us to which we had not consented?
Executive of 1922 has made no decision. Paralysis. I wonder if there should be a vote of No Confidence in the 1922 Executive? Colleagues are growing impatient.
‚The sofa‘s up against the door‘: Tory MPs count the hours until May quits as she ‚barricades‘ herself in Downing Street after Leadsom resigns on eve of today‘s Euro elections that will see the party wiped out
However sources said meetings with senior ministers were postponed because Mrs May was having her regular audience with the Queen, who she was expected to brief on her intentions.
Brexit news latest: Theresa May clings onto power after 1922 Committee meeting
Theresa May is still clinging onto power after the executive of the 1922 Committee failed to agree a rule change which would allow a fresh bid to oust her.
It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I have decided to resign from the Government.

Theresa May is continuing to face pressure from her own MPs to resign after one of her senior ministers quit the cabinet.
The Leader of the House, Andrea Leadsom, stepped down on Wednesday night over the PM‘s Brexit policy.
We’ve Hit a New Low in Campaign Hit Pieces
Recent efforts to sandbag Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard are crude repeats of behaviors that helped elect Trump in 2016
„Recent efforts to sandbag Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard are crude repeats of behaviors that helped elect Trump in 2016.“ Everyone needs to read this eye-opening piece by Matt Taibbi.
“They smear anyone who is against regime change wars” – @TulsiGabbard Indeed they do! While resisting US imperialism outside of the Venezuelan embassy last week, we were called Venezuelan/Russian/Iranian/Cuban/Palestinian puppets…?
War with Iran will be far more costly than the Iraq war. It will undermine our national security, and waste countless of lives and trillions of dollars. As president, I‘ll restore the Iran nuclear deal and de-escalate tensions. Join me and say #NoIranWar!
India’s Betrayal Of Iran Is Only The Beginning
(15.05.2019)
The sudden visit to New Delhi by the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif for a meeting on May 14 with the outgoing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the dying days of the Modi government underscores dramatically how much Tehran has been traumatised by the Indian decision under American pressure to summarily stop all imports of Iranian oil w.e.f May 2.
How Modi Won Reelection as India’s Hindu Nationalist Messiah
Modi and his political party pivoted away from confronting corruption, redesignating the central threat to Indian society instead as „the Muslim threat“ – India’s own Muslim community and neighboring Pakistan. Deliberately stoked religious polarization has deepened to a worrisome extent.
Modi replaced his „development man“ imperative with a new public image: that of the Hindu savior. That shift has also won significant popular support.

He then marched out into the Rose Garden, where reporters had been gathered, and delivered a statement bristling with anger as he demanded that Democrats “get these phony investigations over with.”
