Though my family were avid followers of politics, they were never Kennedy supporters. In spite of that, I found “Bobby’s” anti-war position both brave and admirable.
In the wee hours of June 5, I watched live coverage of the California primary — the last big ticket to the Democratic nomination. My mother and I stayed up for RFK to give his speech, then turned off the TV and went to bed.
That next morning, my mother would wake me with the awful news: Sen. Kennedy had been shot at the hotel in Los Angeles where we’d seen him on TV just hours earlier.
Polls suggest that around half of Democrats want someone besides the 80-year-old Mr Biden as their 2024 nominee, with most citing concerns over the president’s age.
Mr Kennedy’s entrance into the race could further highlight those electoral vulnerabilities.
There is historical precedent – no sitting president has won re-election in the last 50 years after facing an intra-party challenger who hit double digits.

Wir lesen die mit dem Lissabon-Vertrag in Kraft getretene “Charta der Grundrechte der Europäischen Union”, Artikel 52 (“Tragweite und Auslegung der Rechte und Grundsätze“), Absatz 5:
“Die Bestimmungen dieser Charta, in denen Grundsätze festgelegt sind, können durch Akte der Gesetzgebung und der Ausführung der Organe, Einrichtungen und sonstigen Stellen der Union sowie durch Akte der Mitgliedstaaten zur Durchführung des Rechts der Union in Ausübung ihrer jeweiligen Zuständigkeiten umgesetzt werden. Sie können vor Gericht nur bei der Auslegung dieser Akte und bei Entscheidungen über deren Rechtmäßigkeit herangezogen werden.”
Es darf sich jetzt jeder fragen, ob selbst die Straßenverkehrsordnung mehr als heran gezogen werden kann. Der entsprechende Passus war übrigens in der vorhergehenden “Charta” aus dem Jahre 2000 noch nicht enthalten.
Das im Verordnungsvorschlag vorgesehene Instrument der Aufdeckungsanordnung läuft auf eine automatisierte, massenhafte Analyse von Kommunikations(inhalts-)daten aller Nutzer hinaus. Dies würde letztlich zu einer vollständigen Aufhebung der Vertraulichkeit der Kommunikation im digitalen Raum – etwa bei Email-, Messenger- und Chatanbietern, sozialen Medien oder Clouddiensten – führen, die mit den Grundrechtsgarantien insbesondere der Art. 7, 8 und 11 GRCh nicht zu vereinbaren ist.

Die dadurch begründete Pflicht zur massenhaften Auswertung von Kommunikationsinhalten ist mit den Freiheitsgrundrechten, insbesondere dem Recht auf Achtung des Privatlebens (Art. 7
EU-GRCh, Art. 8 EMRK), auf Schutz personenbezogener Daten (Art. 8 EU-GRCh) sowie dem Recht auf Meinungs- und Informationsfreiheit (Art. 11 EU-GRCh, Art. 10 EMRK), unvereinbar.

Auch die derzeit im EU-Parlament diskutierten Änderungen seien nicht geeignet, sämtliche rechtliche Bedenken auszuräumen.
„Die Chatkontrolle bedeutet letztlich eine vollständige Aufhebung der Vertraulichkeit der Kommunikation im digitalen Raum“, sagt Rechtsanwalt David Albrecht, Mitglied im Ausschuss Gefahrenabwehrrecht des DAV, in einer Pressemitteilung. Insgesamt seien die Pläne nicht mit der Grundrechtecharta der Europäischen Union vereinbar, so Albrecht. Ohne Änderungen würde der Europäische Gerichtshof (EuGH) die Regelungen in einigen Jahren wieder „kassieren“, warnt der Jurist.

Russia also says that Western military vehicles were used in the incursion.
It posted pictures of destroyed US vehicles apparently at the scene of the fighting but some Ukrainian military experts and bloggers have suggested they could have been staged.
The US said it was skeptical that reports of US-supplied weapons being used in the incursion were true and did not “encourage or enable strikes inside of Russia”.
But Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the vehicles were evidence of growing Western military involvement in Ukraine.
