CAIR Renews Call on Congress to Demand Israel Release Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya After Torture Reportedly Causes Broken Ribs

âDr. Abu Safiya has been in Israeli captivity since December 2024. In that time, he has been subjected to repeated acts of torture causing serious injuries. Dr. Abu Safiyaâs only crime was treating the thousands of Palestinians maimed by Israelâs genocidal assault on Gaza. We call on all members of Congress to demand his immediate release from captivity and hold the Israeli government accountable for its treatment of him.â

I first met Abu Safiya at the beginning of February 2024 when I visited Kamal Adwan Hospital. I entered the pediatric intensive care unit, where several premature babies were receiving treatment. Their health conditions were critical, and they were suffering from malnutrition.
I saw Abu Safiya moving between the hospital departments. He appeared anxious and exhausted as he asked one of the nurses to search for formula specifically needed for premature infants…..
Houthi attacks kill 11 in Yemen and target Saudi refinery
Strikes by Yemen‘s Houthis on Sunday killed at least 11 people, a medical source in the Yemeni port city of Mokha has told AFP, after an earlier drone salvo targeted a Saudi oil refinery on the Red Sea coast.
A years-long truce in Yemen‘s civil war between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed internationally recognised government appeared to collapse last month.
Iraqi factions to surrender weapons to PMF by Sept. 30
Iraqi political leaders agreed on a mechanism for armed factions to hand over their weapons to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which would register and store the arms under state supervision, a source in the leading Shiite Coordination Framework told Shafaq News on Sunday.
Under the agreement, the PMF âa state security organization comprising mostly Shiite armed factionsâ would take custody of the weapons, document their types and storage locations, and oversee any subsequent movement of arms or personnel under orders from the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Iraqi Prime Minister Stresses End of US Coalition Mission on September 30
In a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi emphasized that regional issues should be resolved through dialogue, while recalling the end date of the US coalition mission in Iraq.
He also announced September 30 as the final deadline for the withdrawal of US coalition forces from Iraq.

Trump Threatens âLeakersâ With Jail Time Over Reports About Munitions Shortages

Media reports have also said that the US has used up nearly all of its ATACMS missiles and Precision-Strike Missiles, which were both used extensively in strikes on Iran.
Trump also responded to a report from The Washington Post that said he lashed out at US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over the munitions shortages, which one source told the outlet was part of the reason why Trump held off on his threats to dramatically escalate the war.
Sources told the Post that on the sidelines of a recent cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump vented his frustration at Hegseth over the munitions shortages. The report said that Hegseth then blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for both the shortages and for failing to ensure Trump was informed about the issue.
Renewed Iran War Would Test Diminished Interceptor Inventories

THAAD deliveries during the ceasefire outpaced estimated use over the same period, resulting in higher inventories today than in April. Patriot calculations include the latest MSE variant and PAC-3s.
