The Republican-led House voted after raucous debate Thursday to oust Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from the chamber‘s Foreign Affairs Committee, citing her anti-Israel comments, in a dramatic response after Democrats in the last session booted far-right GOP lawmakers over incendiary remarks.
These 6 House Democrats voted against the infrastructure bill. These 13 Republicans voted for it.
A number of progressives — who have consistently called for both the infrastructure and the separate economic package, known as the Build Back Better Act, to move together — voted „no“ on the legislation.

In a letter sent to the White House on Thursday, Omar said the information Hale revealed, “while politically embarrassing to some, has shone a vital light on the legal and moral problems of the drone program and informed the public debate on an issue that has for too many years remained in the shadows.”
This constant cycle of violence and retribution is a failed policy and will not make any of us safer. Congress has authority over War Powers and should be consulted before any escalation.

Rep. Ilhan Omar Introduces Bill to Cancel All Rent and Mortgage Payments During the COVID-19 Pandemic

WASHINGTON— Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) unveiled the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act, a bill to institute a nationwide cancellation of rents and home mortgage payments through the duration of the coronavirus pandemic. The bill would constitute a full payment forgiveness, with no accumulation of debt for renters or homeowners and no negative impact on their credit rating or rental history. The legislation will establish a relief fund for landlords and mortgage holders to cover losses from the cancelled payments and create an optional fund to fully finance the purchase of private rental properties by non-profits, public housing authorities, cooperatives, community land trusts, and states or local governments—in order to increase the availability of affordable housing during this downturn.
And I hear @IlhanMN has a bill to do just that! It’s an opportunity for Congress to help working people in an ambitious and meaningful way.

Ilhan Omar Joins Sanders in N.H., Delivers Message of ‚Radical Love‘
Omar is one of three members of the “squad,” a group of influential Democratic congresswomen, who have endorsed Sanders. She told the crowd that her liberal politics are sometimes labeled “radical” by critics.
“The truth is the only radicalism we are motivated by is radical love,” said Omar. “That’s why we’re calling on everyone to be moved, radically, by love for their neighbors, for their country, for our democracy, and for humanity.”
After I and many progressives cosponsored, the resolution was altered to remove the word “occupation.” It also removed a reference to the “broadly held consensus” on the two state solution. Here is what they took out.

Twitter has shut down the accounts of Danielle Stella, a Republican challenger to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) in Omar’s bid for reelection, after Stella twice tweeted about hanging the congresswoman.
The campaign account for Stella, a candidate in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, posted Tuesday that “If it is proven @IlhanMN passed sensitive info to Iran, she should be tried for #treason and hanged.”

219 Dems voted in favor of fully reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act enabling the federal government’s mass surveillance of citizens. Only 10 Repubs voted for it. The “squad” (AOC, Omar, Pressley, Tlaib) joined most Repubs in voting “no.” Gabbard didn’t vote.
