Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, as the new offensive is known, is a calculated campaign of territorial reconfiguration coordinated with the United States.
Ahead of the United Nations General Assembly summit that begins on Monday, Israel is preparing to bring the north fully under its control.
According to the Israeli officers, behind the scenes there is a belief that, if the Gaza City operation goes according to plan, Netanyahu plans to declare victory at the UN on 26 September.
The Israeli military, meanwhile, has informed medical personnel and humanitarian groups in northern Gaza to begin developing plans for the evacuation of civilians to the south , ahead of the military offensive to conquer the area. This week, Israeli military officials informed „medical officials and international organizations in the northern Gaza Strip to prepare for the evacuation of the population to the southern Gaza Strip,“ according to a statement released by the military.
The IDF Gaza District Coordination and Liaison officer said in a warning given to the senior official in the health system: “I am contacting you regarding the possibility of the army entering Gaza City, there will be a full evacuation from Gaza to the southern Strip. This requires you to prepare a plan to transfer the medical equipment from north to south, so that you will be able to provide treatment for all the patients in the southern Strip and prepare the hospitals to receive the patients coming from the north, it is important to us that you receive this from an official source. We are going to provide you with a place to be in, whether it is a field hospital or any other hospital.”
“This is all part and parcel of the punishment of the Palestinian people,” Ghafar, a senior fellow and director of the foreign policy programme at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, told Al Jazeera.
He noted that despite “massive protests” and growing opposition to Israeli actions around the world, the global pressure has not affected the Israeli government’s strategy.

Recent attacks have been particularly devastating in the Az Zaytoun neighbourhood, where airstrikes, artillery shelling and gunfire are continuous and intense, causing a high number of civilian casualties and the large-scale destruction of residential buildings and public facilities, the UN human rights office, OHCHR, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory said in a statement.
Since 8 August, the office has recorded 54 attacks on residential buildings and entire blocks in Gaza City, killing 87 Palestinians, including at least 25 children and entire families.
It also recorded attacks on shelters for internally displaced people, including tents and schools, killing at least 14.
These casualty figures “indicate that the systematic destruction of Gaza City is already underway,” the statement said.
However, OHCHR stressed that these devastating figures are only a portion of the actual toll due to underreporting in such dire circumstances.

The U.S. should not be complicit in or use ANY governmental, American taxpayer resources to aid and abet what amounts to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian civilians from Gaza.

David Barnea, the director of Israel‘s Mossad spy agency, held meetings in Washington this week seeking help from US officials to convince countries to take hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who Israel plans to ethnically cleanse from Gaza, Axios reported on 19 July.
According to two sources, the Israeli spy chief told White House envoy Steve Witkoff that Israel has been in talks with Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Libya to accept Palestinians as refugees.
In March, in the wake of the collapse of an earlier ceasefire, Katz had issued a warning to Gaza residents that, if they didn’t release the remaining hostages and “remove Hamas” themselves, Israel would act with “unprecedented force.” Other “options” were possible for Gaza’s population, Katz suggested, including “relocation to other countries,” while threatening “complete destruction and devastation.”
At the time, Meron Rapoport, a left-wing Israeli journalist, parsed the statements coming from prominent lawmakers and officials, as well as connected right-wing Israeli journalists, and came up with this somewhat prescient conclusion: “Israel is preparing to forcibly displace the entire population of Gaza — through a combination of evacuation orders and intense bombardment — into an enclosed and possibly fenced-off area,” he wrote on April 1, suggesting the goal was tantamount to the creation of a large “concentration camp.”

The Foreign Secretary said: “The statements that you’ve just described from defence minister [Israel Katz] relate very much to where the IDF are located and you’ll understand that if they’re, if what you describe is true then I think that would be a big sticking point for getting that ceasefire.”
Describing the issue as one of Israel’s “location” in Gaza, he added: “I suspect the statement from defence minister Katz is in relation to that and I suspect if indeed he is insistent of that position then it would be very hard to see how we get that ceasefire because there is an acute discussion about the degree to which the IDF withdraws from Gaza.”

Katz proposed the idea that some 600,000 Palestinians living or displaced to the al-Mawasi area in the southern Gaza Strip would be transported to what he called a „humanitarian city,“ from which they wouldn’t be „allowed to leave“.

Connecting all these dots leads to a fairly clear conclusion: Israel is preparing to forcibly displace the entire population of Gaza — through a combination of evacuation orders and intense bombardment — into an enclosed and possibly fenced-off area. Anyone caught outside its boundaries would be killed, and buildings throughout the rest of the enclave would likely be razed to the ground.
Without mincing words, this “humanitarian zone,” as Magal so kindly put it, in which the army intends to corral Gaza’s 2 million residents, can be summed up in just two words: concentration camp. This is not hyperbole; it is simply the most precise definition to help us better understand what we are facing.

They reached consensus on these fundamental principles in general terms. They plan rapid implementation, beginning with Gaza warfare termination.
1. Gaza hostilities will conclude within two weeks, ending conditions will encompass four Arab nations (including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates) to administer the Gaza Strip, replacing the murderous Hamas terrorist organization. The remaining Hamas leadership will face exile to other countries, while the hostages gain freedom……
Per Israel Hayom, the five points discussed were as follows:
1. Wrapping up the war on Gaza within two weeks and allowing for Egypt and the UAE to administer Gaza, replacing Hamas. Israel‘s remaining captives in the strip would also be released during this time.
2. Multiple countries taking in Gaza residents for resettlement.
3. The Abraham Accords expanding to include Saudi Arabia and Syria, and potentially other neighbours.
4. Israel declaring its „willingness for future Palestinian conflict resolution“ under the „two-state solution“ concept, contingent upon reforms of the Palestinian Authority.
5. Washington acknowledged Israel‘s „limited“ sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
Speaking to journalists in Deir al Balah on Saturday, Jonathan Whittall, who heads the UN humanitarian coordination office (OCHA) in Gaza and the West Bank, said: “The attempt to survive is being met with a death sentence.”
Since Israel eased its total blockade last month, more than 400 people are reported to have died trying to reach food distribution points.
Mr. Whittall said humanitarian agencies are capable of reaching every family in the shattered enclave but are being systematically blocked. “We have a plan…but we are prevented from doing so at every turn.”
He described the situation as “weaponised hunger”, “forced displacement”, and “a death sentence for people just trying to survive”.
“This is carnage,” Mr. Whittall said. “It appears to be the erasure of Palestinian life from Gaza.”
He urged the international community to act: “We need a lasting ceasefire, accountability, and real pressure to stop this. This is the bare minimum.”

Israel-based human rights organizations – Gisha, Adalah, The Association for Civil Rights in Israel, and HaMoked: Center for the Defence of the Individual – addressed Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, and Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, demanding the immediate cancellation of the Security Cabinet decision from March 23, 2025, concerning “preparation for the possibility of voluntary departure of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to third countries.” Following this decision, a “Voluntary Emigration Administration” was established within the Defense Ministry. The organizations demand that Israeli authorities not interfere with the freedom of movement of Gaza residents and refrain from imposing restrictions on their right to return to the Strip at any time and without conditions. The letter was written by Attorney Suhad Bishara of Adalah and Attorney Osnat Cohen-Lifshitz of Gisha.
The letter noted that statements by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reveal an intention to promote and implement transfer from the Gaza Strip under the guise of “voluntary emigration.” It was recently reported that Israel is using intelligence information to send messages to Gaza residents, calling on them to contact a representative to coordinate their departure.

ICJ advisory opinion: Recalls the request for an urgent advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on Israel’s obligations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In an official statement, the operations room held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the blackout, citing a direct attack on the last remaining main fiber optic route connecting Gaza.
According to the statement, this strike has caused an inclusive digital blackout, now affecting the central and southern governorates of the Strip. These areas join Gaza City and the northern region, which have already been disconnected for two days.
Accordingly, Netanyahu is facing increasing accusations that he is prolonging the war in order to keep his coalition intact, as his far-right partners who envision Israel permanently occupying the Strip, establishing settlements there and encouraging the mass-migration of its Palestinians threaten to collapse the government if he agrees to a permanent ceasefire and withdrawal from Gaza.

Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic, citing a source at Nasser Medical Complex, report that the death toll from Israeli gunfire at the aid distribution site in Rafah has risen to eight.
In total, at least 118 Palestinians have been killed near the US-backed aid points since May 27, according to figures form the Gaza Government Media Office.
The same sources told WAFA News Agency that the number of injuries has reached 125,341, with thousands still trapped under the rubble.
In the last 24 hours alone, 97 martyrs (including two bodies retrieved from the rubble) and 440 injuries were recorded at hospitals across Gaza.
